Madeleine McCann: Irvine Welsh, French T-Shirts And A Halo
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY HERALD: “I don’t believe we get rewarded or punished, but I believe we have a responsibility to try to get the best out of life and make it comfortable for other people”
IRVINE WELSH arrives at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin carrying a holdall in two-tone, light beige leather; it gives the impression that he has just walked in from a picnic. Natural atrium light swamps his head and in a flash he’s almost on top of me, swapping his bag from one set of fingers to another and shaking my hand. His face contorts: he is an hour and a bit late and he’s sorry.
A halo?
Welsh’s jacket is reversible yellow. His T-shirt, in French, says “What would you do if this was the end of the world?” Well? “I don’t know,” he says, apparently uninspired by the question he is advertising.
Well, he could plug his new book: Crime:
“It’s the most difficult thing to write about,” says Welsh. “Child sex abuse tests the limits of our liberalism to the full. You have the whole idea of whether rehabilitation is possible or even desirable.” He was about halfway through the first draft when the Madeleine McCann story broke and forced him to stop writing for two months. “I couldn’t look at the novel or at the newspapers,” he says. “I thought I was never going to finish the book.”
Fact and fiction - can you spot the difference?

Interesting; the Telegraph asserted that the case was listed to be heard in open court but now the BBC says ‘maybe’. The Leicestershire police are, as you have noted, refusing to comment, so that only leaves the McCanns as the people who wanted the publicity for this.
None of which is likely to impress the Family Court.
It does have powers to order a complete blackout on reporting within its jurisdiction.
And it is not unheard of for its judges to describe the sort of purple prose favoured by Clarrie as ’sanctimonious humbug’…

The cats dead. The dog ate him. Poor bugger, he must have a terrible stomach ache.
Anyway, nevermind the booze, try the deep breathing excercises, they really work. Chez has been doing them for about 10 minutes or so now. Do you think she’s alright?

C&C, anyone here can fabricate practically anything so as to think they have free reign to say what they like, and abuse and degrade other posters.
If for e.g. I said to you, that I have no food in my house, am on the verge of being thrown out on the streets along with my 6 year old son …. are you then all going to feel sorry for me

No, I don’t think that would be fair to this site and to the other posters - if I’m in such a mental turmoil that I can no longer think straight and logically, I would be stupid to expect to be take it out on total strangers on an internet forum and get away with it!
That would be about the time that I searched out a site that could help me with the predicament that I am in - and not a satire site where I could vent my anger on anyone!

You were commenting on one of my posts about a post made by another poster who is most certainly not Carmen, unless, that is, you are accusing Carmen of being a multiposter.
You were talking tosh.
I pointed that out.
You can’t substantiate the tosh so now you misrepresent the contents of my posts.

Mods and Admin
Ok lets look at the picture at the moment pro v anti McCann, and then can we move on to the true picture?
People feel the parents are being victimised and vilified for a small error of leaving their daughter, its now called ‘boring’ by the father…
On the other hand a small family of children were left ALONE, two are quite safe now, who was that thanks to? But one is either dead or so traumatised that her life will be wrecked. Or, I guess, boring some would say.
But when people are feeling sorry for two intelligent well educated adults, remember its NOT the anti McC you are scoring all points against, its a tiny child.
June 23rd, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Chatelaine and Julie…. did you actually read and absorb what Carmen said? Do you really find that an acceptable attack? If you do then I am really shocked.
…………………………………………………..
Now, either you are, as I have been told, facing considerable difficulties in your life which affect your viewpoint, and having worked in the mental health sector for many years, I understand only too well how difficult that must be for you, in which case I will continue to take care not to affect your attempts at rehabilitation, or………….you are just a whinging, whining, humourless, poster who runs to admin with phony tales of hardship when called to account for yourself.

Evenin folks
BBC have also reported now on the mcCourt action against Leicestershire police on the website. Some extracts below
‘McCanns make High Court files bid
The McCanns have made their daughter Madeleine a ward of court
The parents of Madeleine McCann will ask a High Court judge to order police files on the disappearance of their daughter to be released.
Leicestershire police have so far agreed with officers in Portugal not to disclose information on the case.
Kate and Gerry McCann hope the hearing on 7 July will give access to details of reported sightings of Madeleine.
—
The McCanns have made Madeleine a ward of court, which allows a judge to act in the best interests of a child in a legal dispute.
—-
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “An application has been made on Madeleine’s behalf by her parents for the disclosure of certain documents.
“The case and the judgment may be in public and this will be a matter for the court to decide. ‘ blah blah
A Leicestershire police spokeswoman said the force was aware that a court hearing was scheduled and it would be inappropriate to comment further. ‘
Even in the UK Clarrie is the only one to speak or would that be mispeak

I have observed at many occasions Cheryl’s digs at other people, including Carmen [and no, I have not kept records, as some of the posters do...]. I love that line.
Which description by Jane Tanner are they referring to?
There’s been rather a lot of them…

Are you sure all these descriptions were by Jane Tanner Chez? Or are you starting to read the sport?

Yep, I’m sure!
The high spot, or possibly the low spot, was when she decided that Cooper’s description sounded like the guy she says she saw.
How can you have forgotten the faux police press conference, with Clarrie looking as if he was auditioning for the The Real Inspector Hound?

Chenier….. Clarence allegedly accepted there had been virtually no leaks from the PJ AFTER Amaral had gone. It is common knowledge that prior to that there were many leaks.
However the info re: Kate WAS leaked but not confirmed who by and explained by the PJ as not being covered by secrecy laws as it was in her original witness statement, not her statements made at the time of being made arguida.
All this has been covered before. Very Groundhog Day.
————————–
Your claim cannot be substantiated.
May I suggest that you listen to the podcast before making claims that you cannot substantiate?
It’s quite long but I am sure that you will find it enlightening. And frankly, given a choice between Kelvin McKenzie and you on the topic of what was, or was not, leaked to journalists most people would regard Kelvin McKenzie as being the expert witness.
But of course, Clarrie and the Mccanns have much to gain by promulgating the myth that the PJ was leaking like a sieve; I see no reason, however, why we should be expected to buy into their PR…
