Here’s One John Leslie Didn’t Make Earlier
JOHN LESLIE is now chiefly famous for not being a rapist.
The former Blue Peter presenter is accused of sexual assault in an allegation made earlier and now repeated in detail and in a fact sheet made available to Daily Star readers.
Leslie is accused of raping a woman 13 year ago. He denies all claims made against him and says it’s “trial by media”.
(John Leslie, star of a straight to tissue movie with Abi Titmuss, is not to be confused with the John Leslie who features in the films Sexophrenia, Making Ends Meet, Debbie Duz Dishes III and Frisky Business.)
The paper has the Leslie statement in full, which begins “Yesterday I attended Teddington police station…”, thus beginning the explanation as to what the charmless presenter has been up to since he was last seen on ITV’s day time show This Morning some years ago.
And he’s on the front page of the Sun. And there’s a question: “LESLIE: I DEFY ANYONE TO REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID 13 YEARS AGO ON A PARTICULAR NIGHT”.
That question to you Santa Claus. Where were you on the night of December 24th 1995?
The matter continues…

some women disgust me the way they just come out with rape and nothing happens to them when they retract the statement, all they are doing is making it harder for real rape victims to get justice, as for men being named , its disgusting and should not be allowed a mans career and life can be ruined by some stupid woman who just feels like saying shes been raped, women these days want equal rights and are always harping on about it , then lets give it them and charge all women who scream rape and later retract the statement.

Well, if it’s a serious problem the last thing we need is the Government getting involved…

Feminism is stopping the serious research into false rape accusation levels. This is a serious subject for both men and women and should be addressed by the Government.

And I totally agree BTW that anyone accused of rape should NOT be named until found guilty - there are so many women out there who can think of very strange ways to get revenge for being rejected by a man.

Seriously, I think all rape charges should be in camera , so to speak, until Justice is served.

I’ve never raped anyone.
But if any of you ladies are willing (and sign the standard consent form) I’ll give it a damn good try.

I don’t think the accuser / potential victim should be named because it would stop many genuine rape victims from coming forward but rape is such a stigma I do think the alleged rapist should also remain anonymous unless convicted.
The woman should automatically be named is she is proved to have lied.
I think there have been a couple of women lately who have been charged as a result of phoney allegations but certainly not all. Madness…….

Its a difficult one - Perhaps if the accuser eventually withdraws charges they should then be charged with wasting police time. Or as you suggest C&C that the ‘offender’ retains anonimity until convicted.

either that, or the accuser should also be named.

Unless his name was McCann of course

A close male friend was accused of rape by a woman he had met in a pub and then (stupidly?) he gone back to her place and stayed the night. She reported date-rape after he didn’t return her calls and texts.
he was charged etc etc and it went on for ober a year before the woman withdrew her allegation. However she was never named or charged. He was left jobless and agoraphobic.
Appalling really. Seeing all this John leslie stuff again makes me even more sure that there should be anonymity for the man unless there is eventually a guilty verdict.
