BBC’s John Simpson On Manoeuvres With Robert Mugabe
JOHN Simpson, the BBC’s seemingly unsackable puffed-up war bore, says on the BBC website:
It has been done with great brutality, but Robert Mugabe has achieved an extraordinary turnaround here…
The moral is clear: never underestimate Robert Mugabe’s ferocious determination to stay in power
His opponent, Morgan Tsvangirai, has been completely outmanoeuvred.
Just look at those big scars on Mr Tsvangirai’s head to see how he’s been out manoeuvred…
Using sjamboks, army belts and gun butts, the soldiers attacked Tsvangirai until he passed out. One of the soldiers poured cold water all over Tsvangirai to resuscitate him. Tsvangirai regained consciousness again at around 1:30 a.m…. One vicious woman was left to work on him. She removed an army belt from her waist and used it to assault Tsvangirai until he passed out again. ”

The BBC is obsessed with democratising Zimbabwe, a country on the other side of the world. Meanwhile, British people cannot even elect the House of Lords or the head of state.
Mugabe from Zimbabwe, enough already! Come on, what about championing the rights of the common man nearer to home, Joe Bloggs from Britain? The British Broadcasting Company should be encouraging the world to put sanctions on Britain until it becomes a democracy!

What makes Zimbabwe even more tragic is that before Mugarbe it was one of the wealthiest and well run countries in the African continent. It was referred to as the “bread basket” of Africa - a large exporter of food. Of course that was before Mugarbe’s land grab for the benefit of his family and cronies. Before this farms were run efficiently by people who were unfortunately overwhelmingly white and therefore by definition evil racists. May I point out that making this generalization about the (former) white population is dare I say it racist but in this world there seems to be racism and then there is RACISM. I personally am fed up with this collective guilt trip that the white populations of this world seem to carry because of the appalling injustices imposed on the African populations in the 18th and 19th centuries. We tend to pussyfoot around black people because of fear of being accused of racism. He is not a black man, he is a man period, and an evil son of a bitch at that and should be judged as such. Can you imagine the indignant international outrage if Mugarbe was white!!!! The fact he is black is and should be irrelevant in this day and age.

John B. Agree.
I lived in Nigeria (Biafran war era) and visited many other African countries. So many countries on that continent brought to their knees by despots and we allow it for fear of being called ‘colonials’ again. Hence the earthly canonisation of Mandela. (Whatever happened to his wife Winnie?)
Do we just wait for the whole continent to turn to dust with the accompanying starvation and death of the masses? I guess so……. so sad and such a waste.

Hi Coolandcalm,
Tony Blair on a visit to South Africa, said that it was decided “to let the African countries sort out their own problems.” So when have they ever done that?
You commented that there is so little interest in what is going on in Zimbabwe and there is certainly a real lack of action and leadership to deal with the abuses of power by Mugabe and his thugs.
This Zimbabwe horror story is a repeat of what has happened throughout much of the African continent since the end of colonial rule by various countries. June Johnson on the site put forward the opinion that Zimbabwe isn’t rich in OIL as the main reason why
nothing has been done to remove Mugabe. That opinion may has some accuracy but its being black that worked greatly to Mugabe’s advantage too.
Today, the newspapers of full of photos and news about Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday. Many famous people are in London to celebrate and honour him.I like Mandela personally and his 27 years in prison was a great wrong in the days of South African aparthied but has Africa been a success story since the handing over of power to black leaders? Mugabe is just another man who has joined a very long list of people who abused power and didn’t give a damn about his own citizens in Zimbabwe.
May Nelson have a good day on his birthday, but its ironic that it wasn’t that many years ago that he was regarded as a terrorist by a British government. How times change.

As I have said previously. Zimbabwe has no oil. So I’m afraid US Rangers won’t be parachuting in any time soon to “liberate” the population. Now Venezuela, guess what, apparantly, according to the US, Iranians and hezbollah are and have been in the country since Chavez was elected to power. Oh did I mention Chavez is vehimently anti American and Venezuela has the largest unproven oil deposits in the world. Now there’s a population ripe for liberation!!!

It never fails to amaze me that there is so little real interest in what is going on in Zimbabwe.
We may huff and puff a little but thats about it.
Oh and of course, we took away his honorary knighthood. Bet that really showed him who’s boss eh?
