Madeleine McCann: More Evidence, Tony Parsons Knows And Claims
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns win right to see key evidence about Madeleine’s disappearance held by police”
The parents of Madeleine McCann today won the right to see key documents held by police relating to her disappearance.
Won?
The McCanns had planned to take Leicestershire Police to the High Court but no case was heard as the force agreed to give them access to 81 pieces of information gathered as part of the investigation.
Progress? Elsewhere, in the same online article:
The couple, who are both 40, are not expected to attend today’s hearing in London before Mrs Justice Hogg…The hearing is scheduled to take place in the High Court’s family division, although it will be held in open court.
Such is the news.
DAILY MIRROR: “Portuguese police to rule out Madeleine McCann abduction theory”
Portuguese police have decided that Madeleine McCann could not have been abducted, it was claimed yesterday.
Claimed.
They believe the youngster died in her family’s rented holiday flat in Praia da Luz.
Believe.
The newspaper Correio da Manha said a 50-page report, handed to prosecutors last week, reveals “new and strong doubts” about Gerry and Kate McCanns’ claim that their daughter was snatched.
So says a report about a report in a Portuguese newspaper.
TONY PARSONS: A case of cruelty
It happens less and less these days, simply because the story of Madeleine McCann is slipping from the news.
But every time that little girl’s face appears on the TV screen, our five-year-old daughter looks up and says exactly the same five words: “Did they find Madeleine yet?”
That little girl, the one who disappeared.
Somebody knows something. Almost certainly more than one person knows something. It’s not enough to shrug and walk away.
The Mirror’s Lori Campbell didn’t shrug.

If I report another mugging, will I one day have my statements to an unknown third party, who areworking for the suspects?
Thanks once again !!!

The point, as I understand it, about these calls, was that they were passed on to the police by Team McCann in the first place in the very early days following Madeleine’s disappearance.
So this is not a case of the police giving details of witness statements made originally to them.
I think you can heave a sigh of relief…

If by pros you mean people who would like to see justice executed in a fair and proper manner, so be it. However it is amusing to see the antis (get the maccanns at any cost) squirming and trying to deny that the presiding judge this morning made comments totally at odds with the Portuguese alleged take on the case.

Gandolf!!!
What a load of absolute tripe.
We all want to see Justice meted out in fair manner, especially towards Madeleine McCann, who had no choice or privilege in any of this, and she is the sweet innocent in this.
Don’t forget Mummy and Daddy were feeding their faces and drinking the night away while Madeleine was taken disappeared evaporated away

what history of the courts involvement??
—————————
I’m still waiting for the judgement!
But the Family Court became involved at a very early stage, and there seem to have been toings and froings over a period of time.
It’s possible that there has been a nudge from the powers that be in the Family Division along the lines of not bringing Wardship into disrepute; as I noted earlier you really can’t claim that you want people to assist the Court without telling them that the Court wants assistance.
Equally, if the purpose of the proceedings is to help to search for Madeleine then Justice Hogg’s comments are likely to do a great deal more for her than chasing up telephone calls made 14 months ago.
I don’t think there was any real choice about holding the hearing in public; the point of law is clearly of both national and international importance, since it has a direct bearing on the way that criminal investigations are conducted both here and transnationally.
One of the drawbacks of hiring an academic lawyer is that they may lack appreciation of the wider issues; Scott knows an awful lot about wardship but appears to have not grasped that his cunning wheeze would bring down the wrath of both the legislature and the executive on his clients’ heads, without anything to show for it.
I think that Madeleine was the winner today…
M and A
I think she was too.
Chenier could you email Paul (Anorak) directly if you have any info you want to divulge? he doesn’t always read all the threads. Its psorene@anorak.co.uk I’ll double check on that, if its wrong I’ll get back to you shortly JJ

Anyway - when is the coach trip to Rothley? We could all turn up and eat our sarnies near the front gates of the Manor. Hey now there’s a business opportunity…. like the trips to Yorkshire and Emmerdale! and anyone who really wants a bit of the action could book the Christmas Eve trip and take in Midnight Mass!!

Oh Nosey - bugger that - I came back skint - spent all my pension (for the year) in a night!!. You are right - I play online too and at least Anorak kept me busy - that is until I realised that my poker site overrides others and I can actually do both!! lol

The 81 pieces given are probably the details of the at least 81 sightings which were more or less immediately discounted by the pj. I think that we on Anorak have heard of at least 81 different accounts of sightings - so I agree with Chen. that the Leicester Police would not be giving anything away that could eventually prove vital to the PJ’s case, whichever way it eventually goes. My one and only concern, and the reason that I do feel that there will not be a conclusion, is the delay by the PJ to bring charges, if they intend to. The time and money involved must be huge, and it makes me wonder just how much longer the Portugese will be able to afford to let it run. Everytime there is a comment - there has to be man-time to either investigate, shelve or file. All takes money

Tosh.
There are 11,000 pieces of information sitting in the Leicestershire police’s files, none of which have been read by the Judge. Even you might grasp that any comments made on a basis of total ignorance of the evidence are not likely to carry much weight in the great scheme of things.
She flatly refused to follows Scott’s wording, notwithstanding his opening statement that as all the world knows, Madeleine was abducted.
Of course, there were three Counsel who spoke after him whose clients may know rather more about those files than he does.
He will continue to not know what is in those files, with the exception of 81 pieces of information, which is not much reward for that amount of expenditure. Particularly since the Leicestershire police had already reviewed them all.
And the cunning wheeze of a Wardship order which nobody knew about, thus apparently negating the usefulness of the order, turns out to have been a damp squib.
Those brilliant lawyers hired by the McCanns allowed them to get all the way to Court in pursuit of a legal argument which was doomed at the outset.
It’s really not a good idea to piss off the Attorney General…

Fair comment?
————————————–
‘All shall have prizes’.
Of course, if you believe that the Leicestershire police are incompetent and have not investigated those 81 items then that would be fair comment.
On the other hand I know of no evidence to prove that the Leicestershire police force is incompetent…
July 7th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
The Judge was required to square a difficult circle; however much Gandy would have liked her to say that Madeleine had been abducted she did not have any evidence in front of her which would allow her to say so. She has not read the 11,000 pieces of information sitting in the Leicestershire police forces files.
Of course, if Madeleine was really abducted by a single criminal then the odds are that almost certainly she is dead, which is not what the McCanns want to hear either.
If you read Justice Hogg’s statement carefully you will see that she does not exclude the parents from being that ‘one person’ she talks about.
And the history of the Court’s involvement is of interest…

Well, quite honestly I think that everything will just die a natural death. I really will be surprised if any charges are brought by the pj with regard to any crime - and that includes neglect and abandonment. The whole thing, start to now, has been a disaster. They should have hauled them in on neglect charges immediately. Lets face it, allowing them to pither around in Portugal until September did nothing to help find Madeleine - the McCanns certainly didnt seem to use their time looking - they used it to promote themselves.
I shall retire from even reading the news about them - it has been interesting on here, and nice to read the views of like minded folk - but I think it’s all over bar the shouting. and the shouting will be the hip hip hooray from the McCamp
