Madeleine McCann: More Evidence, Tony Parsons Knows And Claims
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns win right to see key evidence about Madeleine’s disappearance held by police”
The parents of Madeleine McCann today won the right to see key documents held by police relating to her disappearance.
Won?
The McCanns had planned to take Leicestershire Police to the High Court but no case was heard as the force agreed to give them access to 81 pieces of information gathered as part of the investigation.
Progress? Elsewhere, in the same online article:
The couple, who are both 40, are not expected to attend today’s hearing in London before Mrs Justice Hogg…The hearing is scheduled to take place in the High Court’s family division, although it will be held in open court.
Such is the news.
DAILY MIRROR: “Portuguese police to rule out Madeleine McCann abduction theory”
Portuguese police have decided that Madeleine McCann could not have been abducted, it was claimed yesterday.
Claimed.
They believe the youngster died in her family’s rented holiday flat in Praia da Luz.
Believe.
The newspaper Correio da Manha said a 50-page report, handed to prosecutors last week, reveals “new and strong doubts” about Gerry and Kate McCanns’ claim that their daughter was snatched.
So says a report about a report in a Portuguese newspaper.
TONY PARSONS: A case of cruelty
It happens less and less these days, simply because the story of Madeleine McCann is slipping from the news.
But every time that little girl’s face appears on the TV screen, our five-year-old daughter looks up and says exactly the same five words: “Did they find Madeleine yet?”
That little girl, the one who disappeared.
Somebody knows something. Almost certainly more than one person knows something. It’s not enough to shrug and walk away.
The Mirror’s Lori Campbell didn’t shrug.

The dark place has whole thread for Justice Hogg and her disgraceful support of the fragrant duo, surely they cannot be allowed to denigrate such a wonderful and charitable lady. The polis should lift every last one of them, at least 18 months for contemptuous comment and forced to listen to Des O’Connor wailing.
—————————————-
Now that is unkind of them, though probably not dreadful enough to warrant being forced to listen to Des O’Connor.
I myself would have thought that if anything could be regarded as punishment suitable for a Judge, being forced to drastically amend her own order in public would rank pretty high…

Gandy, I don’t think it is seen as a victory for anybody. There are no victories to be had in this sorry case save for the return of a poor little girl.
The McCs want information from the police because they believe it will help them find their little girl. Well fair enough - they have 81 more bits of information apparently.
We (well me for sure) will never know what the 81 pieces are or their relevance or indeed whether they were ever in the McCs possession before.
———————————————
Well we do if we believe the Judge and all the Counsel.
The 81 items are telephone calls made to the McCanns’ solicitors and passed on to Leicestershire Constabulary’s incident room during the early stages of the inquiry.
Of course if we disbelieve the Judge and all the Counsel we don’t know what those items are…

the ending there should have read “most of us…”
I confess though to having no idea who the “most” are so maybe I should just say ‘me’.

Gandolf
You seem very eager that the entire matter is shelved.
If the parents are not involved directly in their daughters disappearance, and actually not many people think they are directly, but definitely indirectly
Would you be happy then that the Portuguese still close/ shelve the case.
Or, would you be happier if the perpetrator is found, but not by the Portuguese, or not found at all, just that the parents don’t carry any of the can for what happened to their own daughter in their ABSENCE.
After all if you have NO faith in the PJ , if they did find AN Other would you believe them, surely not?
You see most people here are concerned with what happened to Madeleine, her parents don’t really matter to the ‘antis’, rather like the parents matter the most to the pros, but MM seems to be colatarol damage

To be honest I would never claim victory or defeat or anything I didn’t know about for sure.
Most of Gandy are merely trying to understand. I personally gave up point scoring when I left primary school.

I know, Maravilha, but I wanted to make it clear that there is no chance of the judgement being overturned….
I personally wouldn’t deliver anything to the McCanns…

How do you mean ’so that it makes it clear it does not apply to the pollice or other agencies’
Have the Mcc’s been using it ‘against’ these other agencies?
my mind is boggling…
———————————
Sorry, that should be law enforcement agencies.
Originally Justice Hogg issued a very widely phrased order which required anyone on whom it was served to disclose relevant information to the Mccanns’ solicitors.
Team Mccann then served it on a number of people/organisations including the police.
The police said no.
The Mccanns then decided to take it to Court, and the Serious Crimes Agency as well as the Attorney General weighed in on the side of the police.
Justice Hogg was forced to amend her original order so that it now excludes the Leicestershire police and any other law enforcement agency in the UK.
The Family Court Judges may be powerful but there was never a snowball in hell’s chance of that order being upheld on appeal…

Brandon, the prosecuter needs a lot of time to read 4000 pages and anlyse them

McCanns 81 : Leicester Police 10,919
Doesn’t sound quite the convincing win that Clarrie is making it out to be.
And if I have understood, every bit of this information has been through the hands of Team McCann already. So again, how is this a victory.
Very interesting that neither of them was there, and therefore neither of them was available to be questioned directly by the Judge, nor could anyone see their non verbal behaviour.

I wonder if the McCanns will sue judge Justice Hogg because there are only 81 documents out of more than 4000.
I bet they will.
————————————
No, they won’t.
And that’s 11,000 items of information which the Leicestershire police hold.
The Press here isn’t reporting anything other than the McCanns’ lawyer and Justice Hogg’s judgement but there were three other Counsel who spoke, and the terms of the Wardship Order were varied to make it clear that it does not apply to the Police and other bodies.
In addition to the Leicestershire Police, the Serious Organised Crimes Agency and the Attorney General intervened in the case because it involves important issues of public policy.
The McCanns will not appeal against that Judgement…
July 7th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Nosey I am as sure about nothing as I previously told you, LP, it proves that you obviously put your own spin on what Justice Hogg actuallysaid, Stevie Wonder could see what she was saying.

**************************************************
I don’t think they could do that as the documents being released, i.e. the 81, are the ones that apparently are earliest and came in very soon after the event, or so this person said on TV at lunch-time. It appears these are considered the most relevant.
Doesn’t matter as K&G will complain anyway, no matter whether they had the whole 4000 or not !!
As to the rest of what you said Marvilha, re: Gerry looking down with fond, parental adoration and counting himself lucky to be the father of three children….come ON !! …imagination…..stretching…..he was out on the piss, having to take his turn in “checking” on the children and I cannot imagine for one rose-tinted moment that those were the thoughts in his head, or anything slightly resembling same, more than likely - IF he went into the room at all, he was probably thinking “…thank Christ, the little sods are well away …”

By the way: according what is published out of the investigation files, Gerry went to the apartment at 9.00 pm but did not enter the childrens room.
Did he not say(Panorama?) that he looked down to Maddie, “I saw how beautiful she was and how lucky I was to be father of three children”?
And that was the last time he saw her?
