I wouldn’t say the McCanns necessarily ‘have arrogant drunkard genes’, I haven’t noticed any arrogance about them in what has been shown on TV and pics in newspapers; but did note like the majority over there they do enjoy drinking as a past time since it seems they have a child missing and it is said they left her and her siblings alone for a night of dining and drinking! But that is not really a fair statement to make just about them as what I’ve read on here in past the Brits have been known to leave their children in hotel rooms alone while they sit in the pubs below. I have nothing against people who drink, Willo, I find it interesting to observe them - some become quite funny and happy when drinking and others become real assholes.

Lately, everything seems to go wrong for the McCann couple. Having enjoyed when Maddie disappeared, a period of fame and glory in which they looked happy, were declared arguidos on the basis of the evidence, its setbacks and contradictions.

When they tried to promote the Amber Alert in Europe despite having “busied” themselves in Parliament and devoted themselves to gather signatures as new champions of child safety, it is obvious now that the Union is not in for the task.

When they decidedly go to court reclaiming 100% of the incriminating dossier which is under secret investigation, and demanding the British police and bypassing the PJ and the Attorney General of the Republic of Portugal, they withdraw with 81/11.000 of documents

The mccanns dont believe in the PJ,they dont believe in dogs,they dont believe in DNA,they dont believe in their own versions of the facts…..and us who are just waiting justice for the disappeared child,we do not believe them either…..
And to make matters worse, the summary of secrecy will be shortly lifted in Portugal

Thanks for the full text. I managed to find it late last night and it makes interesting reading.

I think the full reading removes the suggestion that JH was “forced”, in some ignominious way, to amend her first order made in the early days of the investigation.

The legal questions were complex, as a full reading of Scott’s address reminds us, and it was always likely that the police would NOT wish either to damage their working relationship with the Portuguese police or to appear to interfere with an ongoing criminal investigation undertaken by another country. Perfectly reasonable in my view. However, the outcome of any legal wrangle, had the Mcs continued with their original case, just may not have been 100% clear. And even if, in the event of the Mcs continuing with the original application, the judge had still removed the police from the list of those obliged by the order to disclose information, she could still have urged the police to disclose voluntarily anything they could disclose without damaging the ongoing investigation etc. etc.

BTW, I think it is unlikely that Justice Hogg will have been unaware of the legal difficulties, given that every tuppenny ha’penny solicitor and barrister I know knew this and pointed it out as an obvious, though not certain, barrier to the Mcs’ application!!!!!! The suggestion that JH was shocked or surprised by any of this into ignominious defeat is amusing, to say the least. She is an experienced judge, for one one thing. For another, it is hardly likely that, in (possibly) the most high-profile case she is ever likely to be associated with, she did not do her homework to discover what everyone else already knew!

I was extremely interested to see how the matter would be resolved. In the event, the Leicestershire police understood the parents’ desire to have as much information as possible (the police’s own QC says so) and appeared to share their aim of “leaving no stone unturned” and therefore agreed to a compromise.

CM might well be delighted.

First of all, they could well have met an outright refusal. The Mcs could have come away with nothing at all. Many people (me included) thought that a very likely outcome.

Secondly, the judge made her remarkable comments in support of the McCanns in a situation where she had no need to do so. This says nothing about the correctness or otherwise of her opinions; but she did make them clear. In doing so, she has inevitably provided a measure of support and consolation for the McCanns. Whether or not she will later regret that is another matter.

Scott also referred to the fact that they hope that their arguido status will be removed soon. He gives this as a further reason for their withdrawing their application. This may or may not be true. It may be that they simply thought the hearing was likely to go against them anyway and were grateful for the compromise offered. They do have good legal advice, a fact worth remembering!

What Scott certainly does do, very clearly, is express their gratitude to the police for their help and support in the search for Madeleine. They wished that gratitude to be expressed through him.

It appears to me that Monday produced a very reasonable compromise all round, that Madeleine’s needs were paramount in everyone’s minds, thank God, but her parents’ anguish was not forgotten either.

The Frilly Philly one is wearing a horrible frock and has swollen ankles and says all sorts of daft things.

The RM and ROB dolls are almost identical.

The Clan car is plastic but the doors open and it has a baby-seat and the boot has all kinds of rubbish in it and even little sachets of cadaver fluids so you can make your own dna samples.
