Of course, since the Court has had no access to the investigation files, no evidence contained in the investigation files could have been presented…

So there isn’t a reconstruction for them to go back to -
Or are you suggesting that this British Judge (or any of our British Justice system) has the right to order the PJ to reopen the investigation?
Your friend may indeed have some interesting things to say, but I can’t imagine that he has thought past his obvious hatred of our Courts when he says such blooming daft things.

Read this,very very interesting what JHL is saying…Madeleine is entitled to her human rights because she was made a woc on the assumption she was alive .
The same court who has decided to hand over to her progenitors some flimsy documents could ALSO oblige them to go back to portugal and answer the PJ “s questions,participate in a reconsruction BECAUSE it is in Madeleine”s best interests…applying the human rights convention
Of course,this is not going to happen…justice does not work for everybody :mgreen:

yes, we might discuss [even sometimes quarrel] about what’s written or said, but it’s up to them [pj/lp/soca/prosecutor/judge etc.] to find the truth of what happened, preferably finding Madeleine and getting someone convicted. And even if the case gets shelved [for the moment] I’m sure as soon as a new technology, evidence, statement, whatever turns up I expect them to reopen the case. Over here we’ve got “cold cases” teams, who succeed sometimes even after many, many years.

As do we, but I think we are a long way off that point.
The Portuguese obviously have the prior claim insofar as the offence(s) took place in Portugal, but Madeleine was, and I’m sorry to say ‘was’ rather than ‘is’, a British citizen.
Which means that the Portuguese are not the only prosecuting authorities.
I really can’t see the case being ’shelved’ anytime soon…

Odd how many times the words “hotel rooms” has been used. Some reporters have not the slightest regard for the accuracy of the most basic “facts” they give.
(I fully agree that this has to be extended to the sloppy, incomplete reporting of the court hearing. Not having got round to ironing a shirt in time, it took me ages to unearth the full facts! The Independent gave the best early reports but even it was poor.
Absolutely hopeless.
