Madeleine McCann: Child Alert, Daily Mail Knows And Fay Weldon
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCanns win child alert fight MADELEINE”
Kate and Gerry McCann yesterday won their fight for an EU-wide missing child alert system, in tribute to their daughter Madeleine. A declaration supporting the couple’s plea attracted backing from at least 398 MEPs - more than half the 785 European Parliament members.
Or as the Mail said earlier in the week: DAILY MAIL: “Brussels throws out McCann’s appeal for European missing child alert system”
THE INDEPENDENT: “Cultural Life: Fay Weldon, Author”
Film
I went to see Ben Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone for Radio 3’s Saturday Review. “Emotionally disturbing” it claimed to be, with its echoes of the Madeleine McCann case, and so it was, and a welcome change from the dull, written-to-formula films that pour from major studios. If profit rather than enthusiasm is the bottom line, all you get is variations on what made a profit last year.
On it goes…

morning lone.
to me it seems obvious that a young child left alone is at risk, i think everyone who has been parent would think similar having the experience or knowledge of how quickly they can become ill, ie vomit, and that that is often in the night.

BOG OFF
keep having to run in and out to get the washing in between showers.
Yesterday - for the first time in living memory I could see the bottom of both washing ‘mega’ bins.
last night I changed all the beds and the boys tidyed up their bedroom floor. So now they are both full again.

July 11th, 2008 at 11:23 am
nosey - did you get a dell ? I just got oen and it’s ggrrrrreeeeat
July 11th, 2008 at 11:22 am
I’ll get sent home if I don’t have a proper uniform on
Includes navy or black socks (which I always wear one of each because the uniform policy does not say anything about them having to match
)
actually that might be a good idea as we’re moving wards this weekend - its our turn to be steam cleaned
as if that will help. I could do with missing all the extra work involved…
But we are getting a posh new floor fitted (only in half the ward though coz they can’t afford to do the whole ward!! )
July 11th, 2008 at 11:22 am
wtf,
just to make you jealous, i have nearly finished my ironing, having a coffee break right now though, it’s exhausting work.

Nosey, I’ve found this :
“Justice Department statistics of kidnapped children in America also reports 24% of all kidnapping cases are “stranger-kidnappings”, compared with 49% family kidnappings, and 27% acquaintance kidnappings.”
So that means that in approx 76 % of cases, the perpetrator is know to the child ! (I also thought it was a much higher figure to be honest - although these stats appear to be a few years old, so it could be much higher!)

“it is only a crime when the person who abandons knows that under those circumstances the minor will be at risk”.
I’s a crime then in this case as the good doctors would have known that it was a risk leaving three babies alone night after night. If they say they did not know they would be at risk then they should be struck off being able to work as doctors. If they say they did not know they would be at risk and try to pull the wool over peoples eyes then in my opinion they are the lowest, nastiest, horrible, despicable forms of life I have ever come across.
Morning all
