I went to see Ben Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone for Radio 3’s Saturday Review. “Emotionally disturbing” it claimed to be, with its echoes of the Madeleine McCann case, and so it was, and a welcome change from the dull, written-to-formula films that pour from major studios. If profit rather than enthusiasm is the bottom line, all you get is variations on what made a profit last year.

We all know that there are many indications pointing to Madeleine’s death that night.
The fact that Tapas 7 did go checking their own children, after Kate gave the alarm.They immediately started searching for Madeleine.
The fact thet they did not stay on the side of the road, waiting for news when police, journalists, helicopters went searching for the child, after a news on Dutch news paper.
The fact they did not wait for the results of police searching in Murat’s garden( in front of his house). They went to Huelva.
The fact that guests, unhabitants of Algarve, particulary of Luz went every day or week ends searching for the girl and the parents did not join them.
The fact Kate and 3 more Tapas 7 “recognized”Murat, and workers at the resort, neither police of GNR ever saw him.
The fact Tapas 9 refused a reconstruction on June 2007 and April 2008.
The fact the parents never showed anguish and dispair, asking themselves what was happening with their little girl.
So many little things but no proof of death

Cheryl because TB subscribes to something it doesn’t automatically negate it, my own theory is that the answers to this case lie in Portugal not in the UK, I think in my opinion the priest by his very proximity to the main participants and the case in general, knows something, I may be wrong, somehow I don’t think so.

It wasn’t just about his thoughts on what the Priest knew, it was a full frontal attack on the Catholic Church period on all aspects of it. Well none of us are really going to know anything until and if those files are released for the public to read. That should keep Anorak going on on this MM site for years to come!
Thanks for that link to the Rolling Stones singing - will pass it on to my brother who has never missed a concert by them given over here in DC. They sure do still have ‘life’ in them and keep the women swooning over here when they are on the stage.

Well, if I were going to be deeply boring I’d answer that, but my money has been on Splog for many months now.
The thing that led me astray in the first instance was the fact that they are indisputably vegetarian, but once I’d checked the entry on Proust everything fell into place.
Vegetarian, but deeply keen on culture and not very bright; it was a disaster waiting to happen, and I believe the editors to the HHGG are sweating buckets waiting for the writs to hit the fan…

Hi Gandolf ……. There aren’t any negative forensics. Only inconclusive forensics.
The main body of evidence is in some big sealed brown envelopes at the PJ.

The church has done so much damage over here in the US with all those freaking paedophiles they transferred from church to church instead of turning them in, not to mention denying for a long time they even existed! I agree they should have to report paedolphiles right away even if heard in Confession. But you may know the Churches still have the Confessionals set up so the Priest can’t see the person confessing.
You know it used to be Psychiatrists were protected under our laws also and didn’t have to reveal anything told them by patients. What started that turning around was many years ago that massacre down in Texas by a man who got on top of building and started killing people randomly. He had been going to a Psychiatrist and a big outcry after that on what they had to tell authorities at the time with patients like that. Then it became law they had to also immediately report any one telling them about child abuse. Many years ago a lady who has since moved away from my neighborhood had taken her son to a psychiatrist and my heavens he told the Dr. he was sexually abusing his sister and by the time she got home totally unaware of what the son was doing the police were at her door waiting!

No, neither do I.
I expect that tomorrow we will be informed of the complete reverse, and then on Monday both governments will issue a joint communique announcing that, unfortunately, visitors from the planet Splog mistook Madeleine for the small cake by that name mentioned in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and ate her.
I know that Coco’s holding out for the man-eating sardines but my money is still on the little grey vegetarian aliens from the aforementioned planet…

Evening Coco. Apart from Gandolf autistically repeating the same question for 24 hours, there’s Espresso with details from the PJ’s Final Report, claiming that the PJ have no evidence whatsoever against all 3 arguidos.
My post 800: I tend to disbelieve that at this stage [report in the hands of the prosecutor, who still has to decide] with the investigation still under secrecy, such details would be available to the press …

I never saw it written in the papers he refused to talk to the police, either. But it sure became bible on here once dear sweet TB started crucifying the Catholic Church - we had some run ins on some things he said about the Church at the time. Maria, I remember think back you came back at him with some article in the Resident (?) where the Priest defended himself and put down as ‘garbage’ (my description not his) all the rumours being printed in the papers re him, the Church being cleaned out of any mention of Madeleine, etc. Totje had it also.
