Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Wins Damages
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
ROBERT Murat, the one-eyed, “oddball“, “weirdo“, “bouncy castle” fetishist, fingered by the Sunday Mirror’s Lori Campbell, has settled a claim for damages with a number of British newspapers over allegations of his involvement in the Madeleine McCann inquiry.
Mr Murat will be in the High Court in London on Thursday to receive apologies from the newspapers.
Did he get £1million? Did they all apologise?
The Sun’s Julie Moult considers the evidence. And delivers a piece entitled “stories of a fantasist”. “He always seemed so eager to get involved in the police investigation,” says the Sun’s woman–on-the-scene. “Robert claimed he had a daughter just like Madeleine and said he felt compelled to do anything he could. But to me he seemed like classic fantasist.”
The settlement is with eight UK national newspapers, with damages totalling between £250,000 and £500,000, according to Sky News.
The Mail’s Neil Sears also spots Murat. In “My encounters with a man ‘who just wanted to help’”, Sears tells Mail readers, “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.”
The Sunday Mirror’s Lori Cambell who alerted police to Murat’s behaviour, she saw as “creepy”. She todl the police. But why did she tell the world?
Paul Titcombe had worked with Murat, and the Sun duly noted:
“Paul also suspected Murat had an unhealthy interest in children,” notes the Sun. Interesting. But, sadly, the Sun does not enlarge on this. The usually loquacious Titcombe is not quoted. Examples are not cited.
And:
The Sun hears from Murat’s former work colleague Ji Stanton. Says he: “If he didn’t take his medication, he could be very Jekyll and Hyde. People did see him as creepy.”
The Express topped the lot by comparing an innocent Murat to Soham killer Ian Huntley.
“Kidnapping has weird echoes of Soham case,” says the Express’s front page. “MADDY SUSPECT BEHAVED JUST LIKE HUNTLEY.”
Tuck Price defended Murat when they pointed the finger, and Kate McCann wondered, before the tabloids cleared him. Berore he killed himself. Before he became another Michael Cook. Jenny Murat remained steadfast. We watched his girlfriend.
Max Clifford. Calling Max Clifford…

Ann! Spooky isn’t it? Not!
And of course apart from K leaving the twins in the apartment whilst she went back to tell her pals that M was missing - the others forgot to fucking check that their own off-spring may have gone missing with her or at the same time.
Spooky-wooky-wookier!

Yes - but why is it us ‘lesser mortals’ who are the only ones to pick up on what is the bleedin’ obvious ?? and every time we do, we get poo-poohed and might as well go talk to the nearest brick wall !! K & G neglected their kids big-time, in this we are adamant. If you or I had done it over here, the kids would now be in Care, but it was not just that but all the weird stuff that followed, stories changing, the Tapas 7 ( 8,9 or 10 ) who actually had to meet up to make sure they got their stories right and were allowed to do so !! People seeing people where they weren’t and so on ad nauseam…. you don’ty need reminding, and I think that is why we are all still here because it was so weird and distorted and fraught with lies and deception that we are staying the course in the hopes that all will eventually be revealed……

Basically I am one of those people who helps other people make extraordinary amounts of money and have fab lives - and then I pick up the left over crumbs and morsels - like Ruth the Gleaner in the Bible lol

Oh Carmen! I feel so comforted by your kind words. As you know -I am not a well-person.
However, having met some of the cyber-guys on here I feel quite normal again now! lol
I think trial by media would be heavily weighted in their favour at the moment! Maybe it’s a bit of a Zeitgeist ……… Lots of truths and lies …. Forgetting to remember and remembering to forget Amen lol X

There is something comforting in being surrounded by people nuttier than yourself, isn’t there!
I think trial by media and trail by internet fora is the response of a public fed a diet of ‘Big Brother’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity’ and then told that jury trial by your peers is a right that the government wishes to abandon.

If you see the ease with which I showed Karen how to take control of her life in my last comment -I think you will see I have potential. And maybe CM will write to us so we can help him too.

Karen! Haha!
July 16th, 2008 at 8:16 am
Karen! I would do some gardening but it’s all done.
And I’m dead-lining again at the moment so I need all the rest I can get - in order for my creative side to come out.
That’s why I am concerned to learn that you stay awake when you can’t sleep. You simply must sleep - perchance to dream and organise one’s mind.
Take control of the situation and start drinking heavily - before it’s too late! X Trust me you will feel better -especially in an office situation. X

I’ve tried everything.
To be honest it’s my own fault - I have lifestyle habits that don’t promote a good night’s sleep.

I’ll think of you snuggling while I’m trapped in my drab office.

You poor thing. Have you tried half a bottle of Tia Maria with hot water and a cinnamon stick? X

I am wandering as lonely as one of Wordsworth’s clouds.
Am I having an out-of -body experience again? This is when I come up with my alien-type theories. This is when I waste band-width …….

I sleep for a few hours here and there but mostly I can’t switch my mind off, so I stay awake.

I don’t want to keep hours like this believe me - but it’s the only way I can think of making a living at the moment. If I knew way back then what I know now - I think I would have gone on the game!

After these last couple of cases I’m sure some bright spark will be electing for trial by media rather than trial by jury. It’s their ‘uman rights, innit?

Hi Carmen!
It’s just that I never have anybody to play with on here anymore because of the hours that I keep. Or else I am too childish! Which makes everybody piss off and leave when I come on! lol
*****************************
Told you you’d end up traumatised and paranoid, did I not!
You’re never alone with Anorak, it’s like the Windmill, always open; I really don’t know how you or Karen manage to keep the hours that you do keep, though.
