Which Newspaper Will Buy Robert Murat’s Story?
MADELEINE McCann aguido Robert Murat has accepted £600,000 in libel damages over claims that he was involved in her abduction.
Outside court Mr Murat says: “The newspapers in this case brought about the total and utter destruction of mine and my family’s life and caused immense distress.”
Round up here.
Mr Murat, his friend Michaela Walczuch and IT consultant Sergey Malinka had all brought proceedings against Associated Newspapers, Express Newspapers, MGN Limited and News Group Newspapers over nearly 100 “seriously defamatory” articles.
Murat’s solicitor, Louis Charalambous, says:
“In particular, the defendants accept that none of the claimants had any involvement whatever in the abduction of Madeleine McCann.
“They accept that none of the claimants has any paedophile tendencies or connection with paedophiles or paedophile websites and that none of them lied to the police or obstructed the investigations.
“They accept that Mr Murat’s actions after the abduction were entirely proper and were motivated by a desire to help find Madeleine McCann. He became a volunteer translator for the Portuguese police and did everything he could to assist the investigation.
“Ms Walczuch was never suspected or accused of any involvement in the abduction of Madeleine McCann. Mr Malinka was not guilty of any sexual misconduct and has no criminal convictions.”
Now which paper will buy the rights to his story and try to earn back some of their losses?

“Perhaps provide some evidence as to why you claim the report was untruthful?”
————————-
I did not say the report in The People was untruthful, although I admit to a prejudice against it and other such rags as readily as you admit to yours against women who indulge in oral sex competitions. It does cross my mind now and then, I have to confess, that some of these tabloids may not always report things 100% accurately. Nasty and suspicious of me, I know.
I wondered if the implication you may have been drawing from it might have been that the Mcs told the twins that Madeleine had been taken by a monster.
I asked you if that was the implication you were drawing. You have now, several posts later, made it clear that it wasn’t.
So that’s OK then.
Trouble is, you sometimes allow impressions to be given which you want to be given, even if you manage a form of words which allows you to say later that that wasn’t what you meant at all!
Yummy yummy ketchup.
So this time, I just wanted to be sure.

Are you saying that Kate and Gerry McCann have told their twins that she was taken by a monster?
——————————————————————————————————
You were not saying that, then. Good! Cos I don’t think we know, do we??!!
————————————
Not even an apology for your last set of lies, Maria?
You are carrying on as normal, then…

karen, it is still a loaded statement though.

If the door was locked I’d say they were foolish but I could see how they might think they’d get away with it - but the door unlocked! They must be the world’s most complacent parents not to have qualms about that one.

“But we absolutely know the McCanns contributed to Madeleine’s disappearance by abandoning her.”
That’s a loaded statement.

Where as - if Murat isn’t guilty - then he’s got no responsibility at all.

Damn you! I have to copy 2 posts now - I thought you were resting your eyes by limiting yourself to commenting on the old thread (hope they’re ok by the way)
Post 1:
Actually - no one’s said that it has to be true.
On the other thread we were expressing doubts about how anyone could say that Murat was in no way involved (but Chenier pointed out it was a legal requirement or technicality or something).

Thank you, Matt,
very sad,Ray’s death.
He died of a stroke.
According to the Chinese Medicine fresh corn can help avoiding strokes.
It makes the veins elastic and they don’t break that easy.
Two or three boiled corn on the cobs per week. You could eat it everyday. You could eat also corn out of a tin.

What did the twins tell him?
Oooh err.

Nice one, Carmen.
You’ve just ensured that this thread will live for ever…

sorry… been working so missed the new thread. oops. am copying my post…..
Soooooo…. the apology today states that Murat is innocent of any involvement in madeleine’s disappearance. That has to be true of course.
The McCanns apology states that they are innocent of any involvement in madeleines disappearance. That has to be untrue of course.
Strange that! Especially as all three are still official suspects in Portugal. Where it happened. Something not quite right?

Ah. The People. I thought so. I remember the “report”.
Fine. No probs. Why didn’t you say so at once? Whew! That fine journal!
Mind you, even that does NOT report that K and G had told the twins that a monster had taken Madeleine. The twins are still tots. They play games. Even if there’s a word of truth in it (in The People, for God’s sake?), it could be a game they’d made up themselves.
But why worry about truth, chenier, if you can add another little slur? Every little helps, doesn’t it? Maybe you were an “investigator” for Tesco?
And YOU question the honesty of certain other posters?
Nothing you say is objective or shows a desire to reach as honest and truthful picture as possible. You see everything through the prism of your prejudice. You said yesterday, in a rare moment of truth, admittedly, that you ARE prejudiced. That prejudice makes you incapable of honesty in this particular case, no matter how many supposed “facts” you pick up from websites. IMO only.
I think I know what you would say if someone quoted something from The People, or similar, “reporting” on, for example, supposed inadequacies in the Portuguese police.
————————————————-
Maria,
What I said was:
‘It’s difficult to know what they will make of it; the part that shocked me most of all was the twins reported as saying ‘Madeleine was taken by a monster’.
No child should be told that their sibling was taken by a monster that nobody can find or can catch; how can they possibly be confident that the monster won’t take them too?
You, in your customary fashion, have lied about what I said.
You do it over and over again.
Not only do you not even bother to read the text of what other posters have written, you don’t bother to do even a modicum of research.
Ray Wyre was a controversial and well known figure; neither Ray Wyre nor the McCanns have ever denied the truthfulness of that report.
Perhaps you could explain why you are now doing so?
Perhaps provide some evidence as to why you claim the report was untruthful?
Or is it simply that you are so obsessed that you are incapable of any rational thought?
Of course I am prejudiced against people who leave small children alone with no-one to care for them. Of course I am prejudiced against women who take part in oral sex competitions.
I have every right to be.
But at least the Mezes Nine were hurting no-one but themselves. Or, possibly, the people they were competing on…

“And if they’re working on the premise that a child molester kidnapped Madeleine - then the twins were in the same room as a child molester - and that must be why he’s involved.”
Added to this the monster game - they seem to want to put the worse possible slant on it.
Well little kiddies, if you can get through this lot you’re ready for anything…

will the mccs be explaining to the twins that the monster took away their phychologist?
