Portugal’s top cop has vowed to search “to the ends of the Earth” for Maddie McCann even though prosecutors have shelved the case. Almeida Rodrigues, head of the Judicial Police, said his detectives will chase up all leads until the 15-month mystery is solved.
No end in sight.
He said: “A case only stops being investigated if there is a successful criminal trial.”

And that’s why there’s still such an unwillingness among many to accept that the McCanns’ names really have been conclusively cleared. Take the Portuguese statement at face value, rather than deciphering it for clues that Madeleine’s parents really were guilty of her murder and are only being exonerated because they have powerful friends who put pressure on the authorities in Praia da Luz, and what it means is that there still isn’t closure and there’s precious little prospect of there ever being so. It means living with ambiguity.
Well, no. The McCanns are no longer suspects because there is no evidence to say otherwise. But hasn’t it all ended, O’Hanlon?

It was not my intention to bully or heckle and as you well know Chenier gives long before she gets.In fact …no I won’t be petty, but…no.
In fairness I did invite her to tell me to mind my own beeswax if she thought I was prying. And I wasn’t aware it was against the rules to attempt to guess the mod. It appears I was wrong and if so I apologise.
However chenier does have more than one meaning and surely there is no harm in pointing that out?
As regards the mods being gentle and caring and coming to my defence…oh that makes me feel all warm inside.

jo - Am OK. Got a shock reading that on the T for M. I think it was discussed on here - that subject. The reason Madeleine is so much in the news and the forum has gone on for the length it has, I think is that people are genuinely interested and want that child found and justice done for her also. I talk to people too, obviously not the same people. Yes there are some who blame the McCanns and they are entitled to their opinion, but in all honesty I must say that they are in a very vocal minority. Most people I have spoken to over the last 14 or so months have a very similar attitude to mine. Maybe we just move in different circles.

I don’t dispute this, but how do you know that today , tomorrow or the next you won’t make a bad choice? Any choice about anything…If and when that day comes you will know it, the last thing you will need is be horsewhipped for it day after day by any group . The McCanns know it too.The consequences for them have been horrendous At the time they felt it was ok. It was a system in place in many hotels and resorts.

I am very aware that following the herd can be a futile and foolish exercise.
But seriously KM is a GP, her training for this involves over burdened mothers, and the resulting anguish for mother and child when things go over the top.
BUT I work with animals and people as a result of this….not so far removed as you may think, we do contact the SS and they contact us about children/pets who suffer from uninspired parenting.
With the best will in the world, children are not the perfect vision that people dream of, they have minds spirit and personality of their own.But their parents should be parents first and foremost.
5A at Pd L could have had a fire, what then? babysitters are minimal cost, and should or could have entered both parents thoughts.
