Reclaim The Streets From New York Cyclists
CYCLISTS in New York. Cycle at your own risk:
As Anroak’s Man In NY says:
According to Gawker (via Gothamist and the NYT’s City Room) the cyclist was arrested while the cop has been put on “modified assignment” pending an investigation. Though what on earth the poor guy on the bike could have been doing to warrant this kind of treatment beats me.
He was cyclist. Get them before they get you:
Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson said that between 100 and 300 bicyclists were riding down a street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, blocking traffic in both lanes, when a man and a woman in a Subaru station wagon tried to pull out of a parking spot.
Some of the bicyclists blocked them, sat on the car and began banging on the vehicle, police said.
The driver feared being assaulted and backed up, but bumped a biker and enraged the group. In response, some of the bikers smashed the windshield and rear window, police said. While driving away, the driver hit another bicyclist.
The car stopped after one block, and the bicyclists surrounded the car. One cyclist punched the driver through an open window and another used a knife to slash the tires, according to reports.
The war with the cyclist has begun…

You missed: As Anroak’s Man In NY says:
Sloppy sub-editing Stig.
You’re slowing down. Senior moment?
…and take a very close look at that video. The cop was walking out of the road not toward the cyclist. The cyclist swerved toward and then inside instead of staying in the centre of the road. Most would have reacted exactly like the NYPD man or been run down.

It should be reclaim, not relaim and it should be: he was A cyclist.

Exactly what I would expect from the NYPD. I am just slightly surprised they didn’t pump 25-40 shots into him as well as they have done in several recent cases. They always get away with it so why shouldn’t they do it, it’s fun. Adds immeasurably to the job satisfaction.
