…so ……if that’s the case, how do they explain that the child was supposed to have said her name was Maddie and that “..they took me from my holiday ” and all the rest of what she is supposed to have said ? which I feel was quite clear enough. I have yet to see many CCTV pictures that are clear enough to recognise anybody from and I think from what little you can see that this child bears a striking resemblance to Maddie, striking enough to follow up vigorously anyway if you a were a desperate enough parent !!

Long way back in the thread I know but I wasn’t aware that Kate had said that but my point is that here ia CCTV footage of a very, very similar looking child, claiming to have been “taken from my holiday” and so on, who says her name was Maddie whether this is how she would normally decribe herself or not, and no-one saw fit to follow it up !! At a distance it looks like an egg, it feels like an egg therefore it is an egg until you go and pick it up and find that actually it’s not…….

In terms of the debate itself, the responses made to me were hostile and given the demand for ‘evidence’, it was not clear whether the exchange was one of debate or moderation. I do believe I provided evidence to support my case that Madeleine had been referred to as Maddie by her father and subsequent anecdotal evidence as to why the comments from the McCanns might have been made re. her being known/addressed as such. I might well have continued that the McCanns were likely to have been concerned that their child was becoming universally known as Maddie and the comments reflected this - for them to be viewed as ‘evidence’ such that Kate was lying if Maddie called herself that occasionally, I doubt very much. As such, I still believe that this is both valid and honest.

I have no wish to piss off the Mods or any other poster for that matter, but faced with hostility and bad manners I do tend to get a bit arsey myself which it is clearly a response that would be ill advised where the sparring partner is a mod. Thanks for clarifying that I am allowed to disagree and I assume then that I can scroll such posts too… Call me old fashioned but I do prefer to stay within the ‘rules’ and ideally, avoid conflicts with my hosts.
