Madeleine McCann Cliffhanger: Cliff Richard Signs Up
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
TIME for a Madeleine McCann tabloid story:
Cliff Richard has owned a vineyard just outside Praia da Luz?
Cliff has been signing copies of his book not 100 metres away from the McCann apartment. Anorak’s woman on the scene notices that Cliff was at Baptista – just behind the infamous Tapas Bar. He is signing bottles of his plonk.
Cliff is a good pal of Tony Blair.
Tony Blair was Prime Minster when Madeleine McCann went missing. Her disappearance escalated to be the main news story very fast. Diplomatic pressure was brought to bear on the matter quickly.
Note: Cliff Richard’s wine tastes like crushed mistletoe on a bed of bachelor pad and new tennis ball. Delish. And more than good enough for holidaymakers…
Cliff:
Note II: Expat will buy anything so long as its alcoholic and reminds them of hom.

Surprise surprise - the little girl in the bank has turned out not to be Madeleine. Did anybody really ever think it was?
The headlines this week have been bizarre; every day ‘Maddie sighted 100 times in Belgium.’
Oh really? Who are they trying to kid, and why?

Please can you stop it? We know that you’re not the kilt covered domestic god that you try to appear to be.
If you were why do you always have so much ironing to do?
PS gave your veggie burger to the cat.

If you come across a Veggie Burger - it’s mine.
I’d gone to bed before Nosey came back from McDs so I never got the chance to eat it.
Can you warm it up for me? I’ll have it for lunch. Just got to finish this pile of ironing and then I’ll be right over.

speaking about new sightings of Madeleine, in Belgium, Holland etc,
it makes me remember a song, I think sang by Harry Belafonte,
#there’s a hole
#in the bucket#
etc etc.
………………………………………………………….
Yes it went ” There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, dear Lisa, there’s a hole in my bucket dear Lisa - a hole” to which the response was “Well fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry , well fix it dear Henry, dear Henry…FIX it ” …………

Police were led to search the vehicle that Casey had been driving after her mother said it smelt like she’d been carrying a body in it. Cadaver dogs indicated the scent of human remains. Meanwhile, a neighbour reported that Casey had borrowed a shovel at the time of little Caylee’s disappearance, and police spent some time searching the back garden of the house in which Casey lived with her daughter and her mother.
Casey was arrested on 16th July and charged her with child neglect, making false official statements, and obstructing an investigation.
“Based on the repetitive lies that the defendant has told, we do not know with whom the child is or even if the child is alive,” Corporal Yuri Melich wrote in Casey’s arrest affidavit. He added, “It should be noted that at no time during any of the above interviews did the defendant show any obvious emotion as to the loss of her child.”
There have been sightings reported but police have not yet found Caylee or any indication of remains. The US media is gripped by the story, not least because of the character of young mother Casey, who has been described by police as “nonchalant” and who was seen in photos to be out clubbing with friends during the time her daughter was missing.
The case has quickly turned into another Madeleine McCann-style mystery, with websites springing up and many story-watchers sharing their comments on forums and blogs. One website summarises much of the story.
Police have not yet announced where the positive DNA was discovered, and their investigations are continuing.

If the media are questioning the validity of the dogs that lost her scent in the car park then they are not questioning Eddie and Keeler - they did not track her scent / and weren’t involved for months later.

re: the dogs
i read somewhere that K gave the police a towel that had been used by Maddie in order for the origional sniffers dogs to detect her scent.
Do you suppose that the towel had ONLY been used by maddeleine?
Could the dogs have picked up the twins scent also??
I don’t know anything about the use of sniffer dogs, but it seems to me that if someone had been walking around an area and the dogs were asked to follow their trail they would but wouldn’t be able to distinguish/indicate where someone had turned around and walked back home the same way?
In which case wouldn’t it be natural for a little girl on holiday to have walked to the shop (with parents?) and back a few times over that week.
August 10th, 2008 at 7:36 am
I am furious that they are trying to discredit Eddie and Keela by association.
Will other media outlets just copy this?
Even dare to add a photo of a springer spaniel?

Maddie Dogs Not ‘Trained’
Aug 10 2008
SNIFFER dogs used to search for Madeleine McCann were not properly trained.
Police used dogs more suited to rural work to search a 10-mile radius of the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz where Maddie was snatched on May 3 last year.
The dogs lost her trail in the nearby car park.
It is the latest damning revelation to emerge after the release of files from the bungled Portuguese police investigation.
Prosecutors Joao Melchior Gomes and Jose de Magalhaes e Menezes slated the probe, noting detectives had “achieved very little in terms of conclusive results”.
The report also damned the Portuguese police for failing even to establish if the five-year-old is alive or dead.

that first/last photo of the tapas9 is quite disturbing.
This is CCTV footage from the beach front restaurant is it?? Is this the same one who’s owner insisted that Maddie and her dad were dancing on the beach??
The McC’s obviousley aren’t in the picture but I can see where the owner may have got confused.
the little girl sitting on D P’s knee (
) looks a lot like Madeleine doesn’t she?
Are this the pair that were dancing on the beach then?
I feel sick all of a sudden.

“The latest news is Metodo 3 are going to sue the British Press for misquoting the Madeleine will be home for Christmas. They also claim they have only been paid
E60,000 for the 6 months plus E48,000 (which Brian Kennedy is supposedly
paid). This is a far cry from the £50,000 per month CM was quoting and it could be
very serious for No Stone Unturned if a donor wanted an explanation.”
Please let it happen !!! And let someone from the Press actually resist and force M3 to bring evidence and submit themselves to cross examination.
And then ask CM to explain where the 50k a month has gone to .

Madeleine ’seen in Belgian bank’
Kate and Gerry McCann will not “commit themselves emotionally” about any sightings of their daughter Madeleine until they have been confirmed officially, their spokesman has said.
When were they ever emotionally commited to their poor child Madeliene ?

The latest speculation about Madeleine feels like exploitation to keep this sad story going
Dreadful though the thought is, is it time to hope that Madeleine McCann died the night she disappeared?
Anything seems preferable to the explanation that she was abducted by a paedophile ring, and is perhaps still suffering. That it was always unlikely that some childless couple just fancied a little British girl, and all this time Madeleine has been enjoying ice cream and piano lessons. In their heart of hearts, the British public probably considered all this the moment Madeleine disappeared.
Odd, then, that with the publishing of the case files, the ‘paedo-ring’ angle has been shoved in our faces as ‘breaking news’. What’s new about this news? Nothing of course. Just as there seems nothing particularly new about the sightings, some of which seem dubious to say the least. Surely anyone who’d have spotted Maddie, especially in those first feverish weeks, would have locked the door on her and her ’sinister’ companions and screamed the place down.
Who are these people who muse at their leisure on ‘the strange sad blonde little girl’ before calling the police? The real McCoy, or the usual attention-seeking nut-jobs - we’ll never know.
In the grand scheme of things, all this may seem harmless PR padding, but it isn’t. The result is that ‘Maddie-sightings’ are going to end up having the same ring of authority as your bog-standard UFO, Elvis, or Lord Lucan spottings.
By the same token, last week’s sensational spin on what most of us guessed anyway, has given the case a dramatic unhelpful ‘Maddie: the sequel’ feel. A background hum of just wanting to keep the story going - to keep selling and exploiting as long as possible.
None of which is remotely fair. In real terms the only new development is that the McCanns can feel vindicated at how shabbily the investigation was conducted - which is what they said all along. However, if the speculation turns out to be true, how hollow a victory is that?

Tapas 7 feared trap by police
Friends afraid they would be made suspects if they returned
By Dan Sanderson, 10/08/2008
THE Tapas Seven REFUSED to go back to Praia da Luz for a kidnapping reconstruction because they were afraid Portuguese police were trying to TRAP them.
The group of friends who were dining with the McCanns when Maddie was snatched feared they TOO would be made suspects if they returned, we can reveal.
Cops wanted the group to go back to the Algarve this May—a whole YEAR after the youngster’s disappearance—but bizarrely told them they should come WITHOUT their children.
Case files also reveal that Portuguese detectives REFUSED to assure the group that they would not be arrested on arrival.
In an email to police chief Paulo Rebelo, one of the seven, Rachel Oldfield, said: “We still feel very uncertain of the motives in organising such a re-enactment. How is it going to help move the investigation in a positive direction? We cannot help but feel the re-interviews and re-enactment are too little too late.
“We feel we would be making ourselves and our families extremely vulnerable by returning to Portugal.”
Russell O’Brien and Jane Tanner say it was reassuring to get a letter from Portuguese cops saying there are ‘no suspicions over us regarding the commission of any criminal acts’.
But then Jane adds: “However, we heard something similar in the weeks before Kate and Gerry were made arguidos!”
The group said they would agree to return to Portugal if police “publicly dispelled damaging lies churned out by the Portuguese press”. The cops would not agree to such a statement so the reconstruction was shelved.
