MOST sightings of missing Madeleine McCann seem to involve Belgium and a paedophile ‘ring’ which might have kidnapped the child ‘to order’. Belgian police received more than 100 sightings, 30 of which required checking.

But the latest - by British businessman Trevor Francis, 64 - was on the Venezuelan island of Margarita. Nursing home owner Francis, who keeps a yacht there, says a girl he thinks was ‘Madeleine’ came into a restaurant with three women - all of Latin origin - and had the telltale blemish in her right eye.
He did.
In one sighting, the girl involved said she was ‘Maddie’ and had been taken from her mother. Yet the McCanns say Madeleine was never known as ‘Maddie’ to them. It’s an abbreviation devised by newspapers so the name will fit headlines.

IF we were talking about an incompetent police force, (and I don’t believe the Portuguese police are the bungling Mr. Plods that they are being made out to be in the British press) their failure to find evidence of an abduction would apply equally to their failure to find evidence to support their suspicions of the parents’ involvement. That too could be incompetence.

Of course, no one was suggesting otherwise. It works both ways. Only I happen to disagree with you regard the ‘bungling Mr Plods’. I happen to think under Amaral that’s exactly what they were.
How do you explain not sealing off the apartment for two months? Do you think that sounds like the actions of a competant police force?

From what I have seen from translations of the police report, a whole lot of questions are still unanswered and there are numerous contradictions. This has not been made clear in the British press, who appear to have completely ignored anything which does not follow the scenario according to the McCanns and Clarence. The McCanns’ arguido status was lifted, yes. No evidence has been found to link them to their daughter’s disappearance, no. But nor has any evidence been found to support their claim that Madeleine was abducted, nor has any explanation been provided for contradictions in statements, the findings of the British sniffer dogs and other inconsistencies. I’m not putting my own interpretations on evidence, I’m just asking why there are still so many unanswered questions and why it appears that nobody in the UK is addressing them.
