Madeleine McCann: With Columnist Peter McKay
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE COLUMNISTS
PETER McKAY (Mail):
MOST sightings of missing Madeleine McCann seem to involve Belgium and a paedophile ‘ring’ which might have kidnapped the child ‘to order’. Belgian police received more than 100 sightings, 30 of which required checking.
Do they?
But the latest - by British businessman Trevor Francis, 64 - was on the Venezuelan island of Margarita. Nursing home owner Francis, who keeps a yacht there, says a girl he thinks was ‘Madeleine’ came into a restaurant with three women - all of Latin origin - and had the telltale blemish in her right eye.
He did.
In one sighting, the girl involved said she was ‘Maddie’ and had been taken from her mother. Yet the McCanns say Madeleine was never known as ‘Maddie’ to them. It’s an abbreviation devised by newspapers so the name will fit headlines.

From the previous thread.
…….What is that old saying, “If it looks like a duck, waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck - it is a duck?”……..
Not if it’s sighted in a Belgian bank

I think it looks very much like exclusion to me, prhpas they were just a moody couple, not much fun when your on holiday is it?
I’ve seen these types on holiday myself. Usually quite succesful, right up themselves cos they’ve got a few quid but they never seem to have any fun and the kids always look sad cos the parents aren’t really enjoying parenting and begrudge them because they can’t be out on the piss larging it. Whereas there’s a couple I know of that took it another step further and brought it to a whole new level

To people here on this blog, forum,
In order to protect Anorak, I unfortunately decided not to tell here what I read on “The Truth of the Lie”written by Gonçalo Amaral.
I suggest you all to get contact with the editor in Portugal,
Guerra e Paz,Editores S.A.
guerraepaz@guerraepaz.net
http://www.guerraepaz.net
and ask them about eventual edition in English and where to get it.
On a intervieuw (longer ago)I read or heard that Gonçalo did not tell everything he knows.
He could eventually write a new book, he said.

Are country foxes prettier than the urban crack whore types from shepherdsbush ?
some are some aren’t. You still get the scraggly ones in the countryside. Just depends what they’ve been up to really.

‘beautiful creatures to watch and especially hear at night. They shreek as well as hoot.’
yeah, at first i couldn’t work out what was happening, they were calling to each other, then one landed on the tree and for quite a few minutes stayed there and called to the other which then came over and they both moved on, sort of like a relay movement they were doing and it lasted quite a long time as in you could hear them moving from place to place across the town.

I bet somewhere -in England or not-there are one or two excellent journalists at work now, sifting through the investigation, asking questions, comparing results, and preparing some really interesting piece of journalism about the case.
