Madeleine McCann: With Columnist Peter McKay
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE COLUMNISTS
PETER McKAY (Mail):
MOST sightings of missing Madeleine McCann seem to involve Belgium and a paedophile ‘ring’ which might have kidnapped the child ‘to order’. Belgian police received more than 100 sightings, 30 of which required checking.
Do they?
But the latest - by British businessman Trevor Francis, 64 - was on the Venezuelan island of Margarita. Nursing home owner Francis, who keeps a yacht there, says a girl he thinks was ‘Madeleine’ came into a restaurant with three women - all of Latin origin - and had the telltale blemish in her right eye.
He did.
In one sighting, the girl involved said she was ‘Maddie’ and had been taken from her mother. Yet the McCanns say Madeleine was never known as ‘Maddie’ to them. It’s an abbreviation devised by newspapers so the name will fit headlines.

Really charming to see how a poster gets abusive to another poster and everybody ignores it. Don’t you feel no shame?
——————————————————————————————————
That sentence should apply to any poster Totje, who gives abuse.
August 11th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Totje….. yes I agree with you but it is so often the case now.
So far there is no public reprimand… unlike Daisy whose comment was quite true. There are some on here who hate the mcCanns. They are of course entitled to, the same way some of us are entitled to NOT hate them.

What do you want “us” to do? They’re both grown-ups and can fend for themselves, I think. Involvement could mean escalation, and we don’t need that.
And there’s always Mods, if necessary
Good afternoon, b.t.w.

There must be a wholy innocent explanation…

to pass on their money
to keep up with their social circle

I must admit that I salute couples who decide not to have children, because they know that in their life / lifestyle, kids don’t fit in. They are honest about themselves and about what they want, without inflicting misery on innocent little ones.
On the other hand, I have to really bite my tongue sometimes not to make remarks to some parents about the way they IMO neglect their kids, the way the young ones get ingnored time after time. It is just too much effort for some parents … why do they really have children, I wonder?
And on that note, I’m off to sleep.
Good Night all, happy posting.

Thanks. She tries that with some posters all the time … and I have a giggle to myself at her explosive reactions. Like Ade would say …. “much fun”!

Selective parenting too imo
August 11th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
My worst nightmare would be a holiday with other couples. I can imagine nothing worse but I know lots do it…. I have friends who do it every year. 12 of them rent a villa, usually in the Caribbean and off they go. Nooooooo.
But… even those who do go on these strange multiple people holidays go off on their own during the day and socialise together in the evening. I would guess that was what the mcCanns and friends were doing? Selective socialising?
