Madeleine McCann: With Columnist Fergus Shanahan And The Maddie Squad
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE COLUMNISTS
FERGUS SHANAHAN: “SWOOP FOR MADDIE”
“I tried to imagine the misery Kate and Gerry McCann must be going through with these Maddie sightings. It’s too awful.”
See the Sun’s front-page Maddie update in which she is served an ice-cream in Brussels. Shanahan is the paper’s deputy editor. It’s too awful…
“They must cling to any hope. But some of the latest rash of ‘sightings’ are based on thin detail.”
The ice-cream was chocolate.
“Sadly, the Maddie tragedy is attracting its fair-share of attention seekers”
The Sun’s front page says the ice-cream was cold and sweet – just how Maddie likes them!
“It seems unlikely that Europe’s most instantly recognisable child would be walked through city streets by her abductors.”
More likely she’d stop and be bought an ice cream…
“But if convincing reports of sightings continue, Scotland Yard should set up a Maddie squad capable of moving instantly anywhere in Europe.”
On the Sun’s word…

hi all - good night for shooting stars tonight - take a look north east in the sky - i’ve seen about 10 in the last 15 mins

CCTV images of a blonde girl walking with a woman in Brussels had raised hopes of finding Maddie.
Sightings … missing
Madeleine McCann
But yesterday the girl’s dad came forward after seeing images published by The Sun.
He told Belgian cops: “That’s not Madeleine, it’s my daughter.”
Kate and Gerry McCann, from Rothley, Leics, thanked The Sun for its investigation.

Dr Watson …….. I am in total agreement with this. Having spent two hours in a car when the central locking had an electrical fault.
I had to take the back seat out and snap the lock on the boot to cral out because the AA were really busy and I was too embarrassed to call the fire brigade out.

A possible recent sighting of Madeleine McCann in Brussels has been ruled out by the Belgian authorities.
The father of a young blonde girl whose image was captured on CCTV says it was his daughter with her nanny.
This is according to a BBC report

agw…. thanks for the ‘release’. I don’t knowingly libel anyone. (apart from Mr C&C of course)
COOLANDCALM - You libelled me this morning!
I noticed that you didn’t even apologise for your pathetic behaviour when you and Pam the Professor Full of Piss were swapping knife stories about my be not being the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I left without saying that you both sounded like two old bags who weren’t getting enough of the old mutton dagger.
…………………………..
I left the above post on another thread to do a test - Just in case I had been banned.
Not that I should be. After all I have serious behavioural problems and have to be medicated so can’t really be held responsible for what I write.

Good evening!
I always thought that it is a terrible design fault when a car has all windows electreic. It is a potential death trap! At least one window must be made manual! Unfortunately, all “better” specifications of car now have those dreadful all-electric windows. The boy would have lived, had the windows at thew back been mechanic. This is the manufacturer’s blame, I think. Building a car which you can’t escape from inside in the event of an accideny/ electric failure/ parents forgetting is an unexcusable, dangerous design flaw.
And if a thief gets inside your car, you would not want him to die inside, so you find a stinking corpse in your vehicle in the morning. Better he escapes.

Sun and DM have the story online but HOURS after it was reported in European press, I gather.
Similarly Sky….hours late.
Sun probably knew but wanted to get another day out of it first. Even then they reported the WHOLE story all over again after admitting a Belgian man “claimed” (!) the girl was his daughter, including the guard saying that he’d “bet everything he owned” that it was Madeleine. Good job nobody took him up on the bet…..
Almost as if the man might actually be lying…….
Unbelievable newspaper. (”Newspaper”? No…I think not.)
