Madeleine McCann: The A-Team, Ruining Lives And Spinning The Single Thread
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY STAR: “SECRET A-TEAM IN HUNT FOR MADDIE”
In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground.
Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann have forked out £500,000 on an “A-Team” of former top spooks to find missing daughter Madeleine.
Can the plan come together?
The couple now have “a global operation” of dozens of retired FBI, CIA and even MI5 agents dedicated to solving the mystery of her disappearance. The top secret team has been given six months to solve the riddle.
Pah! The A Team can do it in 40 minutes WITH ad breaks…
Says the McCanns’ spokesman – and still the McCanns’ spokesman – Clarence Mitchell:
“They have been on board for a few months and are on a six-month contract. For security reasons we can’t go into detail of the experts involved but it would not be wrong to say some are former military and police personnel with a degree of expertise.”
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The A-Team.
THE GUARDIAN: “Diary: Esther Addley”
Our sympathies today are split, however, for we must also spare a small pang of pity for the security guard in Brussels who on Tuesday told the Sun about his sighting of a young girl who absolutely, definitely, without question was Madeleine McCann. “I saw her face and recognised that it was her,” said the man. “I would bet everything I own that it was her.”
It was our Maddie?
And sure enough, Belgian police later confirmed - dear reader, you are ahead of me - that it wasn’t. We can find nothing, as yet, on eBay, but Kate and Gerry McCann will be heartened that the man is without doubt now living under a cardboard box with only his own gnawed fists and his shame for sustenance.
The McCann case ruins lives..?
SPIKED: “‘Our Maddie’ makes a media comeback - The silly-season resurrection of the McCann tragedy shows that this was always a cynical, elite-scripted drama.”
Not that the absence of anything beyond hypothesis has inhibited the frontpage speculation. Indeed, the absence of hard evidence at the heart of the Maddie phenomenon has been its lifeblood. With nothing known beyond the barest of facts, anything, no matter how macabre, can be guessed at. And what better than a mail-order paedophile ring based, of course, in Belgium? In lieu of evidence, good old-fashioned prejudice will do. Indeed, over the past year, two pictures showing obviously Muslim women carrying or walking with a blonde-haired girl have been splashed under the headline: ‘IS THIS MADDIE?’ Well, Arab women with a European-looking child – it’s got to be dodgy.

It appears that the 24 photos story has failed to develop, a negative report so to speak.
August 14th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Why do some people come on this site and speak with such an authoritarian tone - as though they have the full solution to the mystery ? Do they think sub-consciously or even cosciously that they know more than us ?
August 14th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Maybe the indication in the flower bed came from somebodies shoe as they drunkenly stumbled heading out into the night. Or maybe they were hiding in the shadows.
Amaral, I think, has a strong end game.
I wonder if the McCanns have been advised what is pictured in the 24 photos.
I can imagine thay are in a bit of a flap about thet revelation.
I think Amarals message to Clarrie was superb. Last time he mentioned the PR man Clarrie shut up for a few weeks.

You are almost correct but never mind that you missed out the reference to “no evidence against any of the three former arguidos” I would expect no less of people on the backfoot.

Perhaps you would point out the passage in which the Portuguese Attorney General states that there is evidence of a crime committed by anyone other than the three former arguidos?
In your own time, of course.

I remember him as well - I have been ‘lurking’ for some time.
I sometimes find it hard on here to detemine who is on who’s side !
People talk in such broad terms.

Insofar as the term ’side’ is appropriate, Anorak is on Madeleine’s side.
Though of course, the MM threads are a very small part of Anorak .

The Portugese Attorney General has to my knowledge not disnissed the case - therefore inconclusive - so far - shelved - awaiting further evidence - which - Bide your time will out !!
August 14th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
OK - I don’t play with fowl / or as we term them vermin - we generally shoot them and eat them - Very tasty with rich currant sauce !!
I take it you are referrring to pigeons ?
Here’s to the heath, the hill and the heather, the bonnet, the plaid, the kilt and the feather!
Cheers !!

No; someone called Red Rooster.
Not someone you would wish to be associated with.

Explain………………….The Portuguese Attorney General had no doubt as to what to make of it.

Artemis
The difficulty is that the Portuguese Attorney General has said that there is no evidence of any crime at all.
August 14th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Yes Garth - I know you think we are all brainless - but contrary to the behaviour of the McCanns I have managed to raise my children - through childhood & into adulthood - without losing any !! Glory be !
Something happened in those days - I say those days because nothing is certain - but there is - I believe more evidence for fowlplay within the group or accident - than abduction !!

References to fowlplay inevitably bring a former poster to mind; may I suggest that you rephrase, hastily.

Okay lets have a look at the theory that Madeleine had an accident in the apartment and the McCanns have tried to cover it up.
For arguments sake lets just say that Madeleine fell out of the parents bedroom window which has a drop (not enough to kill a child by my reckoning but whatever) which some apparently believe she could have seriously harmed herself.
So Kate returns to find Madeleine dead. Her first thoughts (because she is as brazen as they come) are not of the infants well being but more about saving her own neck. So with that in mind what does she do? She hides the body temporarily (where we dont know) and then informs the remainder of the party that she’s been abducted.
Everybody is searching. The police are informed. Kate puts on an a very clever act of panic.
Now its pretty obvious that this plan was well thought out because noone has got a clue as to Madelienes whereabouts. But then she hasn’t really had to time to concoct such a story and to fool the world has she?
But if she is as clever as some might believe then why didn’t Kate McCann just say that Madeleine had an accident in her presence? She fell over and banged her head after jumping around on the bed or something?

There is always a problem in attributing reactions to other people, simply because you would react in a particular way in a particular situation.
There is also a problem in attributing devious motives for what may be perfectly straightforward behaviour.
The reality is that if you are self centred enough to leave your children by themselves in the first place then surfing football websites would be perfectly in keeping with that degree of egotism…
August 14th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
OK - so when does it stop ?
The parents are not exacyly stressed by the extended search - because (perhaps) they know - there is no point in raising hopes - hence Gerry’s ’sucking lollipops’ and looking at football websites when police are endevouring to carry outr their duties - in fact quite the oposite - they are just ‘milking the cow’ assisted by ’spin’ - they are not behaving rationally
August 14th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
The Portuguese Attorney General had no doubt as to what to make of it.
August 14th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
OK - Sorry ! I was thinking - we have indications of men in the apartment - visit to check etc.Kate in a towel - nice - we have a big drop - and blood stains - and a missing child - and a timeline which does not add up - don’t know what to make of that.
It was only with GA statement Irealised there wa such a big drop to the flowe bed - was that the place the dogs reacted ?
August 14th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Of that you have my full agreement.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Truth of the matter is - we have a mystery - But w don’t have Madeleine !

Artemis
I think we can all agree with that.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
G.A. – How many sightings have there been? Thousands. It’s been a year. I stopped giving them a lot of importance on the day that the dogs confirmed the cadaver odour and the blood.
Spot the MISTAKE ?

Julie, is the guilt of your unwarranted stance, there is no evidence, perhaps you don’t think that is so, eating at you so badly that you are slavering like an incontinent hyena.
I like to comment on my own posts, as it undoubtedly puts windylickers like yourself on the spot, I am PMSL that you actually timed my posts, seek assistance, your condition of myopia will only get worse unless treated…….. may the truth engulf you….I may repeat these words of wisdom in 22 minutes…..would you like to set your alarm clock…..

Absolutely right Maria. However, i take my hat off to Julie. She has surprised me. In a nice way naturally.

Hi Maria
You have a lovely evening too … off for a while now.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Julie
Hi!
You’re obviously NOT “some people”!
Have a nice evening.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Garth
Won’t make any difference what the dog handler said! Some people will still think the dogs know better than he does!
And a few will even think they know better than any search expert.
Wuff!
August 14th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Garth,
For once I agree with something you’ve posted … take note … it doesn’t happen often!
I have always believed that sniffer dogs “point out” areas of interest - they, in themselves are not the source of conviction. Further investigation needs to be done on areas that they are pointing to. Hard evidence needs to be obtained by the investigators - however sniffer dogs are not often wrong IMO!
(Probably haven’t made myself clear enough in what I’m trying to say … but what the heck …. I try!)
August 14th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
A quote from the Sunday Times on the case files now available from the Portuguese police:
“The case file contains documents showing that Mark Harrison the British search expert & Mark Grimes the dog-handler warned the (sniffer dog) results should be treated with caution. They insisted that ‘corroborating evidence’ was needed & that no ‘intelligence reliablity could be placed on the results’”
Worth noting people!

Oh dear have we touched a nerve, people who do not respect the rule of law…….mirrors breaking all over the land………

Gandolf,
I have to ask why you feel the need to repeat yourself or comment on your own posts? Did you forget to change user name considering YOU had already used the first paragraph 22 minutes prior to this post?
You are no longer the poster you used to be … I used to enjoy it when Gandolf was posting.
You are a pathetic attempt at an imitation of a poster I used to admire …. didn’t agree with often … but admired nonetheless! If you feel the need to BE someone else, at least have the common sense to pull it off properly!
