Madeleine McCann: Glamour Models, Grabbing Little Boys And Genette Tate
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Britons try to snatch Madeleine lookalike”
They tried to snatch her because she looked like our Maddy? The reward is still on offer, right?
Two British tourists tried to take a small fair-haired child from a beach, thinking it was Madeleine McCann, it emerged yesterday.
Protecting the little kiddies from nutters and oddballs…
Convinced it was the girl who disappeared in Portugal last year, they kept a careful eye on the pair and even took some secret photos.
Taking pictures of kids on the beach. Yes, a good idea…
When the woman’s back was turned, they grabbed the child’s arm only to find it was not Madeleine but the son of a Croatian footballer. Leone Drpic is two-and-ahalf and has long blond hair like Madeleine, but there the similarity ends. His dad Dino, 27, plays for Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia and his mum Nives is a glamour model.
Any pictures, for publicity purposes?
Nives said yesterday: “I started getting suspicious when the British woman approached Leone and started chatting with him. Suddenly she grabbed him by the arm, apparently thinking nobody was watching him. However, when I went over she realised her mistake and apologised.”
Grab a kid – any kid – and if caught says “oops! Thought it was our Maddy”.
DAILY MAIL: “British couple tried to ‘rescue’ Maddy lookalike… from a Croatian football star and his model wife”
Dino Drpic, who is a defender for Dinamo Zagreb and has several international caps, and his wife Nives are the Posh and Becks of Croatia. Their son Leone has long blond hair like Madeleine’s, but the similarity ends there - he is even six months younger than the missing three-year-old.
Three. Not four.
DAILY MAIL: “Notorious childkiller won’t be charged as longest-running missing persons case reaches 30th anniversary”
It’s child killer Robert Black:
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall police said: ‘Following the submission of a file to the Crown Prosecution Service, Devon and Cornwall Police has been informed that there is insufficient evidence to justify the institution of criminal proceedings against the individual arrested by the force in connection with the disappearance of Genette Tate.
‘”The force is aware that the 30th anniversary is approaching and would ask anyone with further information concerning this unsolved crime to contact us.”
And Madeleine McCann is connected how?
Genette’s father, John Tate, has prostate cancer and on Monday said his dying wish would be to find the body of his “little girl”. He told the Western Morning News what happened to his family is similar to the case of missing Madeleine McCann. The 66-year-old said: “I have nothing but total sympathy and empathy for the McCanns. What has happened to Maddie is very similar to what happened to ourselves.
“I hope Maddie is found alive and well and reunited with her family. I would have loved nothing more than that for myself with Genette. But, of course, her mum Sheila and myself have known for many years that Genette was murdered.”
Such are the facts…

Morning all.
Matt… I too am fascinated by your regular meal-times… wish I could do that instead of grazing; one of the big problems of working at home is the fridge walk-past. (or rather NOT walk-past)
Brandon… who is FP? I know I should probably know but can’t figure it right now!

Matt. I was going to come on earlier but there was a whiff of Gandolf hanging about - like a scent of death - so I tidied my bedroom instead.

Matt
Have you read about kate and the doping in the CM ?
FP seems to land her in it rather than go along with it, which makes it even more curiouser. dontcha fink?
Unless she was scared and trying to protect someone else.

Brandonflours! Good Morning!
I am thinking of trying to get an interview with Mr. Amaral and doing it as a web-cast - as Coco of the Commentariat Party.
Is there anything that you would like me to put on my 48 Questions sheet? It is nearly full lol!
August 19th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Good morning, Coco.
I always welcome polite and friendly posts.

Intriguing.
Hmmmmm….now when exactly were those handwritten timelines written.
Could they possibly have been written pre-”alarm” ?
Russell O’Brien handed them over to the police ??
And how could printed 10×15 poster type photo(?s) of MM be produced and
handed to the Police within an hour or so of the “alarm” and no accessable
printer within the holiday complex could have printed this/them ?
Courisor and courisor.

Morning Matt! It looks like you are under scrutiny there! Another fan for your club.
If only the Tapastwats had paid as much attention to their kids as we pay to perfect strangers on here.
Good Morning Commentariats and attendant Half-Wits?
Been hard catching up on the past few days - but have popped on and off and it looks like ill winds be a blowin’ about.
I bet there are a few people who are feeling a bit apprehensive at the moment - a bit unsure of the way things are pouring out of the police files onto the breakfast tables lol!
I must say that the UK Press in general are getting a wee bit braver - taking tentative steps towards the tsunami - or deluge of information we are about to receive! Oooooooooh! I like a good read!
Which bits of information does anybody think the UK Press should print for the unwashed and Un-Aroraked this weekend?
Who do we think is going to be the bravest UK Editor?
Should we nominate anybody - as Commentariat members of course - as a collective?

How are you, Matt?
What I love about your posts are the very regular breaks for food!
“Time for some eats” is a favourite phrase! It’s good to see someone with correct priorities. Have you had breakfast yet? Full English?!
I must away to my gruel before I go to work.
Good sleuthing! (Another of your favourite phrases!)
Have nice day.

I think that Nives and Dino Drpic were much much too lenient to this pair
of shortsighted nutters who took secret pics and tried to snatch their 30 month
old boy child.
I would have called the Police and ask for them to be charged with attempted
abduction.
And would have had them named and shamed too.
Is the only way to send out a message to any other fruitcakes who would do
such stupid things.
Some innocent soul/family is going to get seriously harmed if this nonsense
is allowed to continue.
