Two British tourists tried to take a small fair-haired child from a beach, thinking it was Madeleine McCann, it emerged yesterday.

Convinced it was the girl who disappeared in Portugal last year, they kept a careful eye on the pair and even took some secret photos.

When the woman’s back was turned, they grabbed the child’s arm only to find it was not Madeleine but the son of a Croatian footballer. Leone Drpic is two-and-ahalf and has long blond hair like Madeleine, but there the similarity ends. His dad Dino, 27, plays for Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia and his mum Nives is a glamour model.

Nives said yesterday: “I started getting suspicious when the British woman approached Leone and started chatting with him. Suddenly she grabbed him by the arm, apparently thinking nobody was watching him. However, when I went over she realised her mistake and apologised.”
Grab a kid – any kid – and if caught says “oops! Thought it was our Maddy”.

Genette’s father, John Tate, has prostate cancer and on Monday said his dying wish would be to find the body of his “little girl”. He told the Western Morning News what happened to his family is similar to the case of missing Madeleine McCann. The 66-year-old said: “I have nothing but total sympathy and empathy for the McCanns. What has happened to Maddie is very similar to what happened to ourselves.
“I hope Maddie is found alive and well and reunited with her family. I would have loved nothing more than that for myself with Genette. But, of course, her mum Sheila and myself have known for many years that Genette was murdered.”

But if she had been, would she then remember that the pyjama bottoms were NOT pink. The McC s told us that and showed us replicas of the WHITE bottoms with the Eeyore motif.
And she only came up with the PINK pyjamas AFTER having been ‘helped along’ by a cognitive psychologist or some such other title. Her original wa sthe bundleman, carrying a bundle wrapped in a blanket. No legs, no pyjamas.

Petermac I think it is important not to automatically buy into the idea that GMcC, JT and JW were all there in the street at the same time.. You will see that the GMcC/JW meeting is not mentioned in the PJ timeline. JW himself is reported as saying that he went out between 8.15 and 8.30 and met GMcC between 8.45 and 9.15, so the meeting could have been a good half hour before JT claimed to have been there.
I eagerly await details of the Tapas waiters’ statements as to when GmcC and JT got up from the table. Any inconsistencies and I would be inclined to believe those who were willing to do the reconstruction.

Without really understanding what has gone on behind the scene and with a couple of the posters here, it appears that you both have left Anorak.
I just want to wish you Good Luck and say that I appreciated your help in the past, when I found myself in some trouble with Admin.
There is a saying in Spanish, that you may or may not understand: “No hay mal que por bien no venga” … which roughly means …. “something good comes out of something bad”.

The fact is that most of us haven’t a clue what her gripe is, even though she’s been going on about it for what seems like weeks.
What bothers me is that, somehow or other, her problem seems linked to Duncan and Carmen leaving.
If true, these are sad losses.

I do not expect uncritical support. Luckily I have the support from the people that matter….to me. I hope that I have also given them the support they deserve.
I have apologised on numerous occasions for bringing anything unrelated to the forum. I have explained enough imo to others questions when it was even not directed to them but they still choose to throw mud.
I do not find it acceptable that a (unpaid) moderator has been reduced to sitting on a pavement in floods of tears due to exhaustion & frustration etc regarding the way she has been treated.

This has even been told to the boss to which I have a copy (as he knows) & to which I have been told that I can do with the information as I wish. Therefore perhaps you can see that I have been trying to be discreet / diplomatic to see if someone is willing to man the sinking ship (not my quote)

There is an excellent post by someone called “speak your mind” on Joana’site today. The poster says the PJ didn’t react as they should have at the beginning : they should have interrogated the tapas group at once, as their statements were full of contradictions. The British ambassador wasn’t stopped from interfering. The political people weren’t kept away. Then it was too late to make the witnesses explain their contradictions. He thinks that should it have happened in the USA, Germany, or France, it wouldn’t have been possible to influence the police in a similar way. He thinks the authorities were too complacent.
He also speaks of the Pope’s reaction to the C’s, which he thought very cold at the time.
Very interesting.

WHAT are the chances ?
Edie and Keala, 100% record……….. then they get it wrong 8 times on 6 different occasions in several different locations.
They then go to Jersey and instantly back on track 1 alert and remains several years old are found !

Like I said before. I’ve lived with gun dogs all my life and have been a beater on many occasions and when they get a scent they get a scent. They don’t mess up. Something was there for them to smell it end of.
