Madeleine McCann: A New eFit, Selling Books And A Rapist’s Cover Story
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Madeleine McCann: Nanny’s new sketch echoes picture of kidnapper”
That’s the picture on the left. For wont of name, we’ll call him Cool.
This is the shadowy figure seen lurking in the bushes outside the flat from where Madeleine McCann vanished. And the woman who confronted the straggly-haired stranger eight months before is convinced he is the same man family friend Jane Tanner spotted carrying a child in pyjamas the night Maddy disappeared.
The man Jane Tanner says she saw is also on the left, for comparison purposes. They could be twins.
Despite telling police, British nanny Margaret Hall was not asked to help with an artist’s impression. Now, thanks to the Daily Mirror, a sketch of his face can be seen for the first time.
The Daily Mirror is on the case. It’s track record is im-pecc-able.
Margaret Hall added: “My description of the man is very similar to that of Jane Tanner’s. He had long hair but it was quite scruffy and straggly looking. He had said ‘no’ in English but he was not English because of his skin colouring. He looked more Portuguese than anything.”
DORSET ECHO: “Rapist gets 13 year sentence”
A FORMER Burger King manager has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after being found guilty of raping a girl and 16 counts of sexual assault over a period of seven years. Ehmad Alguet, 44, of Esmonde Way in Canford Heath, Poole, was found guilty by a majority verdict of 10 to two on each of the 17 counts by the jury at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday.
And:
He also told the court he had looked at illegal porn sites because he was trying to trace missing toddler Madeleine McCann.
THE GUARDIAN: “Edinburgh festival: When comedians attack - What is the most jaw-dropping example of audience harassment by a comic that you’ve come across?”
Capurro’s show this year is basically a big can of carbonated outrage, shaken vigorously and hurled into the crowd, with jokes about Madeleine McCann, paedophilia and Islam all present and correct.
The Guardian loves Capurro, the try-very-hard comic.
BBC: “Born Yesterday writer at festival”
An author who wrote last summer’s news as a novel and another who went in search of a sporting superstar will appear at the Inverness Book Festival. Gordon Burn covered the Blair-Brown prime ministerial handover, Glasgow Airport attack and the search for Madeline McCann in Born Yesterday.
Madeleine McCann: That’s entertainment…

Good cleaning thiugh.

So, wait. We think the Portugese police released only the portions of the case which make them look incompetent and SAVED the parts that incriminate the McCann’s??? Really??
Okay, that’s clearly my signal that it’s time to go clean my house!

That is what also puzzles me.
Apparently it is an unusual restriction for the Portuguese Judical bods to have instigated following a “hold up” decision of a serious case.
August 20th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
It’s only a guess, but my assumption is that, based on the word-for-word repetition of the phrase, that it is a legal standard, like “On the advice of counsel…” or “I refuse to answer on the grounds…” are here? You might translate it, then Google it to see if it doesn’t pop up in a number of unrelated cases if it’s really troubling you.

Matt, what is the point of releasing 17% of the information?

I should have added….apart from the pages which will not be allowed to be
read by Journalists etc.
The AG indicated that many will be withheld.

Wouldn’t it be great if somebody uploaded all the 30.000 pages?

There was a list of the questions Kate refused to answer; I can’t remember where I read them, now, but I’ll try to find them. The DVD situation is fishy, in my opinion; has nobody in the UK media obtained a copy and had it properly translated? Surely they have, but are not revealing the information because it would show the McCanns in a bad light. And don’t forget that the DVD apparently only contains 11,000 pages of the report - the other 19,000 (approximately) haven’t been released. Wish I knew what was in those pages!

Before someone replies saying the 48 questions have already been reported, one of the things I’m getting at is the phrase “explain more than you already had” that crops up in some of them:
“43. In the case files you were SHOWN CANINE forensic testing films, where you can see them marking due to detection of the scent of human corpse and blood traces, also human, and only human, as well as all the comments of the technician in charge of them. After watching and after the marking of the scent of corpse in your bedroom beside the wardrobe and behind the sofa, pushed up against the sofa wall, did you say you couldn’t explain any more than you already had?
44. When the sniffer dog also marked human blood behind the sofa, did you say you couldn’t explain any more than you already had?
45. When the sniffer dog marked the scent of corpse coming from the vehicle you hired a month after the disappearance, did you say you couldn’t explain any more than you already had?
46. When human blood was marked in the boot of the vehicle, did you say you couldn’t explain any more than you already had?
47. When confronted with the results of Maddie’s DNA, whose analysis was carried out in a British laboratory, collected from behind the sofa and the boot of the vehicle, did you say you couldn’t explain any more than you already had?

Only a small proportion of the 30,000 pages File has been provided to
Journalists presently.
About 5,000 pages only.
Mostly concerned with sightings and statements about them. And what
investigation followed.
We will have to wait until 30 days after the initial release before Journalists
can apply for provision of the remaining 25,ooo pages.

“When questions became of a nature that could incriminate her, she was made an arguido, her rights and duties were read out to her in English and thereafter she opted for the right to remain silent.”
And what WERE these questions exactly? Are they on the DVD? If not, why not? Have any of the journalists seen them? If not, why not? If so, why hasn’t it been reported?
I’m beginning to wonder about this DVD, the way the info seems to be trickling out (or not as the case may be.)
Why is Amaral so unspecific? Why did Gerry bother answering the questions if he was going to be an arguido anyway and if he knew Kate hadn’t answered some? What questions did Gerry answer?
Don’t people realise that if a process is supposed to have been “made public”, with loads of gaps in this “public” information, then the voids will fill up with rumour, suspicion and speculation?

From the Daily Mirror
“After hearing nothing from the police in the UK, she went straight to Metodo 3, the private investigators working for Kate and Gerry.”
She heard nothing ? Not even the screaming, hysterical laughter ? She heard nothing. She cannot have been listening very carefully. And then she inflicts the same on poor old M3. I beign to feel sorry for them.
Has Clarrie said anything about the “thing from the swamp”. It does remind me of a monster from those lovely old B ‘horror’ movies. Had he got webbed hands and feet I wonder. Could be a give away.

August 20th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
“GA: Up until being declared an arguido, Kate, at the request of her lawyer, co-operated. When questions became of a nature that could incriminate her, she was made an arguido, her rights and duties were read out to her in English and thereafter she opted for the right to remain silent.
TPN: And Gerry McCann?
GA: He answered all questions, before and after being made an arguido.”
Look for the differences …

I imagine it’s more like:
Cop: We want to ask your clients some incriminating questions, and we can’t do that if they’re not arguidos.
Lawyer: Why do you want to ask them incriminating questions?
Cop: ‘Cos we don’t believe their abduction story and we think they were involved in what happened to their daughter.
Lawyer: So you’re going to make them arguidos?
Cop: We have some other questions to ask first, but if we don’t get any satisfactory answers we’ll make them arguidos and move onto the incriminating questions.
Lawyer: I will advise them not to answer any questions if they are made arguidos.
Cop: That’s your prerogative.

So let’s get this straight, the conversation goes something like this (in Portuguese):
Cop: Morning, tea or coffee? We’re going to ask your clients some incriminating questions, by the way.
Lawyer: Coffee please. You mean the sort of questions that can result in someone becoming an arguido?
Cop: Absolutely, in fact be aware that we are going to make your clients arguidos anyway, before the weekend’s out.
Lawyer: I see. In that case I’m going to advise my clients not to answer any questions.
Cop: Well why not, that’s the standard procedure.
–
Okay I think I’ve got it now.
But hang on, why did Gerry answer the questions then?
Hmmm…

just_me ………. I am actually bone-idle by nature - so I absolutely have to have help - especially with all the pet hairs everywhere.
I feel guilty and bury my head in the bed-clothes when she comes into my bedroom to ask if it’s OK to switch the hoover on. I am rigid and mortified!
She thinks it’s the dog’s fault that I haven’t slept and she makes me a cup of cocoa and tells me she’ll be as quick as she can with the vac! I cringe!
How can I tell her I’m on Anorak at all hours - and it’s not just the poor dog?
August 20th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Lone! No it’s not all! lol - I am just following the fine example set by Barack Obama! lol
Just in case the Commentariat Party gets into Governing this fair land of ours!
I don’t want some old MP calling out of the woodwork telling the NOTW he used to pick me up at a local railway station.
I don’t want some Cicuit Judge going to the Telegraph and telling them how I had to tie him up and hang him out of a window at the back of the Inn-on-the-Park!
They know who they are! I want to make a clean breast of it all before we run for Government.

Re: Madrid plane crash. It was a Spanair flight from Madrid Barajas to Gran Canaria with 160 people on board; they think 50 people dead, possibly more, and many injured. One of the engines caught fire on take-off.

My cleaning-lady is getting on a bit and I feel guilty when I haven’t even dragged the hoover about since Monday morning. The dog’s good at mopping the kitchen floor if I throw coco-pos and honey-nut clusters on the tiles! lol
