IMO............. In the days of the late sixties, early seventies I would say plenty of people dreamed of playing for Chelsea. What a charismatic side they had then. They were very exciting with many talented players, not only skillful individually but they were awesome as a team too. Not much different to todays Chelsea. But the image the latterday Chelsea players project is one of aloofness, smugness and they seem to have little rapport with fans. Compare that to Harris, Cooke, Osgood, Hudson, I could go on. They were real players motivated by nothing other than trying to entertain supporters while striving to win trophies. Many stories abound about stars of those days who were not averse to chatting to fans in their local pub over a pint or throwing out a tip in the bookies. Don't happen no more though. Money has changed times.
I think that the club most players would dream of playing for is Arsenal these days. They play attractive football, with the players generally mixing with public where they can, which is encourged by the board. A cool stadium and great manager. Which is funny as they are one of the few top European clubs that have a salary cap. But Chelsea these days is all about money. But I for one will not answer Abramoviches texts.
