A YEAR after the abduction and murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, we must take pause to observe this sad anniversary in all sympathy for her bereaved family — as indeed for that of Sharlinie Nashar, lost in similar circumstances eight months ago and not yet found.
Other children go missing.
The contrasting fates of the children in these two cases raised the most awful conundrum: would it be kinder for such families to know their child is dead, to retrieve her remains for a proper burial in a consecrated grave where they might mourn and pray for her, or to never know what became of her, the better for hope to remain? Such unthinkable dilemmas are universal; the cases of Briton Madeleine McCann last year, American Jon- Benet Ramsey in 1996, and even the Azaria Chamberlain “dingo” case in Australia 28 years ago, all strike to the same depth of anguish.
Ramsey was fond dead 8 months after she went missing. Chamberlain’s body was never found.

Right so we’re agreed then ? next M O does the 9.30 check, listens at the doors but doesn’t hear anything OK ?
No No! hang on, he would see the shutters open by going to the front door !
Ermm now let me think ?…… right I entered the apartment with the key at my 9.00 check and……
No No! there is no outside keyhole on the patio doors……….strewth!
Apart from that why would you check 5 minutes after MO ?
Ok right I used the key to get in the front door but then went out the patio doors in case of fire yhea ?
But eggman is supposed to have jemmied the shutters to get in, isn’t he? so why wouldn’t he just go in through the patio ?
Who would leave a patio door open when someone else’s colour telly is within arms reach ?

and mother in law, apart from gerry, his wife and their 3 children. They two groups met at the O C. Gerry and family were given apptment 5GA.

Something bothers me, as Columbo would say, in that Clarry had a perfectly good job with the govt then apparently gave it up and flew out to PDL with Gerry 22 May 07 (ish). Wasn’t this at a time when we were all hoping Maddy would turn up any moment? Why give up a steady secure job (with the govt) for one (with BK) that could come to an end the next day?

Some little bits are very interesting, IMO, so, I’ll translate the for you :
At first, Enfants Kidnappés explains that they aren’t going to show all the documents which only proved the magistrate in charge that the investigation had been thorough, like maps, etc… The maps have been widely seen on the internet. One interesting detail, the window is about 90 cm from the ground. They also say the distance from the bed to the window was 40 cms.
Then they translate Gerry’s statement, which took place on the 5th at 11.15 AM. They explain that since Gerry, being British doesn’t speak or understand Portuguese, an interpreter under oath, Natalia, will translate Gerry’s words into Portuguese with the utmost care.
Gerry had already come to Portugal in 1994. He was attracted to the country because of the good golfing conditions. The present stay was suggested by his friend David Payne, who, after searching on the internet, reserved at the ocean C. for himself, his wife, and the rest of the party, 9 grown ups and 8 children (The diasppeared child M included). Gerry has known the members of the party for 5 to 6 years. They came as 2 separate groups, some leaving from London, some from a local airport in Leicstsh. The group the MCs came with included David Payne, his wife, their 2 sons, and mother in law, apart from gerry, his wife and their 3 children. They two groups met at the O C. Gerry and family were given apptment 5GA. There were 2 beds in the first bedroom, and the management gave 2 extra cots for the twins. So, one of the beds remained empty in the children’s room. K and G slept in the other room.
Between their arrival on the 28th of April, and the disappearance of M, G Mc says he didn’t notice anything unusual, except that on the 3rd of May in the morning, Madeleine asked her daddy why he didn’t came into the bedroom when the twins were crying. G MC declares having not heard anything, and not having gone to the bedroom. It was the first time Madeleine made that type of comment.
On the Sunday, they had breakfast at the Oc. Cl. bar a few meters awy. The following days, because of the distance of the Tapas bar , they bought food from the supermarket, situated on the same street as the appartent. Then he explains that in the creche where they left the children there was roughly one grown up to look after 3 children. He says they picked them at 12.30. They had lunch in the appartment. At about 13.30, tthey watched their children play by the swimming pool for 45 minutes, where they put suncream on. Then the children went back to the Kid’s Club until 17.00, the time at which they had dinner in the bar, while their parents were watching them. Then they gave them a bath, and before they prepared them for the night, they left them play on a playground by the tennis court for a moment. The children were put to bed between 7.30 and 8 PM.
While the children were at the”Kid Club”, GERRY played tennis with KATE, or they went for stralls or did some “jogging”. Yesterday (NDLR: day of the disappearance),MADELEINE and the twins were put each one in their bed at 7.30. The parents relaxed and had a drink in the appartent until 8.30 PM. After having checked that the children were asleep, they went with other grown ups to the Tapas restaurant, about 50 mètres away, for dinner. As usual, as the restaurant was near the appartment, every halh hour, G MC or his wife went to check that the children were OK.
At 9.05 PM, G MC entered the appartent thanks to his key, as the door was locked, and went to the children’s room, where he saw that the children were well. He went to the toilets for a moment, and after leaving the appartment, he saw somebody he had been playing with, they talked for a few moments, and he went back to the restaurant.
At 9. 30, a friend, MATT (member of the group) went to his own appartement where his children were. He entered G’s apartment, using a glass door which was always left open, on the side of the house. He saw the twins, checked that Madeleine was OK. Everything as normal, the shutters were closed, the bedroom door ajar as usual. Matt went back to the restaurant then.
At 10 PM, Kate went to check on the children. She entered the appartent through the door thanks to her key, and she saw that the bedroom door ws fully open. The window was open also, with the shutters lifted. The doors were locked, expect the back entrance as has been said already. KATE checked that each of the twins was sleeping in their bed, as opposed to M. who had disappeared. After looking for her in the appartement thoroughly, G’s wife, scared and shocked, went to the restaurant tell her husband about the disappearance. Immediately, the group looked everywhere, in the swiming pool, tennis etc., and in the appartement, , with the help of staff from theOCEAN CLUB, who also called for the Authorities.

It must be noted that JANE, when she went to her own appartment to see her children, saw a person carrying a child in pyjamas, about 50 meters away, on the main road. She will be able to talk about it herself.
MADELEINE
M. Is 90 cm high, skinny, with dark blond straight hair. Her eyes are both bleue-green, the right eye has a little brown mark in it. She also has a little distinctive brown sign on her left leg. No scars. When she disappeared, she was wearing pyjamas whose trousers where white with a flowery pattern. The top was mainly pink with a blue and grey design, and the word “EEYORE” on it. Short sleeves.
The child is an extrovert, hyperative child, she can speak well, clever, she relates with other children very easily. She would never follow anyone she doesn’t know. G. Mc doesn’t have a suspect in mind, he doesn’t understand the reason for the disappearance, he and his wife have no ennemies. His daughter has no disease and doesn’t take any medication. G MC allows his cell phone to be listened to. Apart from the Kid’s Club and the apartment, they only went to the beach once with M. and the twins,and only for a very short while. Since then the weather wasn’t settled. At Praia they only had an icecream and came back to the appartment. Madeleine went to the beach with the other children at the Kid Club, -a five minuts walk- for an hour. It was organised by the club, G and his wife weren’t there.

Fair had her photo take on a chaise lounger in the 60s a sort of soft porn type with heels and a ciggarette holder, saul discovered it by chance on an oil rig and got duncanr to upload it, and fair was really annoyed as she had put all that behind her!

You are right about this. But we will find it difficult to put a proper timeline, even when we know more, and because there was no reconstruction.
The site “Enfants Kidnappés” insists that if we want to understand the files, we have to keep in mind that at first, the police didn’t work on anything else but the kidnapping theory. Which is a pity of course…
The Enfants Kidnappés site is giving the second page of the files today. I’ll see if there is something interesting in it, and will translate it.

Okay. Lets just look at this one big factor……. If Madeleine McCann had an accident that led to her death it happened between 18.40 and 22.00hrs on May 3rd 2007. Would you agree that would appear to be the most obvious times and indeed what Amaral was looking into?

The PJ report mentions a time of 5.30, presumably when M left the kids’ club, then we go to 10.40 when apparently the GNR were called.
It is difficult to put a proper timeline together at the moment, particularly because we don’t have details of the evidence of the Tapas staff.
To me it’s important to check all the evidence as to when everyone arrived at the table, who got up and when, when did Gerry meet Jes Wilkins etc.
Any inconsistencies between one set of witnesses and another will need to be looked at carefully. I’m not saying there are any inconsistencies, because I have no real idea what the Tapas staff said, nor do I know whether any of them were wiling to attend the reconstruction (which would be relevant to their credibility.)
