MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
NEW STRAITS TIMES: “Keep the candle lit”
Spotting our Maddy in Malaysia?
A YEAR after the abduction and murder of Nurin Jazlin Jazimin, we must take pause to observe this sad anniversary in all sympathy for her bereaved family — as indeed for that of Sharlinie Nashar, lost in similar circumstances eight months ago and not yet found.
Other children go missing.
The contrasting fates of the children in these two cases raised the most awful conundrum: would it be kinder for such families to know their child is dead, to retrieve her remains for a proper burial in a consecrated grave where they might mourn and pray for her, or to never know what became of her, the better for hope to remain? Such unthinkable dilemmas are universal; the cases of Briton Madeleine McCann last year, American Jon- Benet Ramsey in 1996, and even the Azaria Chamberlain “dingo” case in Australia 28 years ago, all strike to the same depth of anguish.
Ramsey was fond dead 8 months after she went missing. Chamberlain’s body was never found.
The press sees Madeleine McCann buying party goods in Amsterdam…

‘The dogs followed maddy’s scent from the apartment door nearest the road, left, then a 90 degree turn down an alley, then another 90 degree turn down another alley, then another turn down towards the supermarket, all within hailing distance of the tapas bar. For a long time the PJ thought that the dogs had got it wrong because for an abductor to go almost full circle like that would make no sense.’
if madeleine was carried away by an abductor, there would be no scent for the tracker dogs to follow, surely ? i think that scent must then be from an earlier time or a differnt person.

ah that may be it.

OK, wig theory RIP.
Have you seen that photo that the Portuguese tracker dogs took later that week? If not maybe someone could link you to it. The dogs followed maddy’s scent from the apartment door nearest the road, left, then a 90 degree turn down an alley, then another 90 degree turn down another alley, then another turn down towards the supermarket, all within hailing distance of the tapas bar. For a long time the PJ thought that the dogs had got it wrong because for an abductor to go almost full circle like that would make no sense.

(If you are still on the thread tonight).
Apparently, Paulo Reis is very easy to join. Google Gazeta Digital, which is his site. On the top right of the screen, you’ll see his photo, and, under it, his e-mail address. He and Duarte Levy also write also write on the site SOS Madeleine (in French).

there’s too many scousers involved already.
if they were all really there, there wouldn’t have been any doubt about where the renault scenic had been , it’d have spent the week in PDL propped up on a pile of bricks.

JonBenet Ramsey was found dead within 24 or 36 hours of her parents reporting her missing, not 8 months. She was murdered in her family’s basement while her parent’s and brother slept upstairs. No one has ever been convicted for JonBenet’s murder.

I have clearly missed something. Why has brandon flours got friends in high places?
August 21st, 2008 at 11:04 pm
OK Clouseau, I got it wrong - what is above the flower bed? I cannot find the maps and plans.
Hotwater, the main idea (forget the wigs etc) is that two or more of them were there removing the body…
August 21st, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Hotwater,
What if it wasn’t a wig but someone from Liverpool with a perm?
August 21st, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Interesting that the Tapas Bar was too far away to bother to take the children there for breakfast (so the McCanns bought stuff for the family breakfast at the nearer supermarket).
Yet, the Tapas Bar was quite near enough for all the adults to dine there, out of sight and earshot of their children?
Also, thought the whole “crying on May 3″ comment was aimed at Kate - “Mummy, why didn’t you come.”
According to the translation by MN, the remark was to “Daddy”.

Lola However many people were involved, and even if it were an abduction by a stranger, walking through the street with Maddy in the way JT described would be an incredibly risky strategy. I can’t see how someone would plan things to the point of wearing a wig, and then walk through public streets with Maddy there to see. Though I understand the “blue bag” business has been ruled out or in any event is not mentioned by the PJ

Thank you for doing the translation, much appreciated, please do more.
i very seldomly get a chance to post during the day now and at night we always seem to pick up nonsense.
My Mother sends her regards to you, she had her 63rd Birthday on the 16th.
Mrsb and Mom read this during the day.
my mother was at first quite shocked at the laguage but she is now ‘cool’ with it, more or less. though she does lament the change in modern youth’s bad.bad manners.
she will be thrilled to hear that i now keep such exalted company here. i will write tomorrow about the delivery of the box of dollies, very exciting.
i now have friends ib very high places yes, i still cannot believe it myself, will puff up my chest another 10cm.
oh my God i just want to explode and shout it from the highest tree tops and roofs.

This nasty, sweaty woman, wearing a sleeveless sundress, walks into a bar.
She raises her right arm, revealing a big hairy armpit as she points to all the people sitting at the bar and asks, “What man out there will buy a lady a drink?”
The whole bar goes dead silent, as the patrons try to ignore her. At the end of the bar, a skinny little drunk slams his hand on the bar and says, “Bartender, I want to buy that ballerina a drink!”
The bartender pours the drink and the woman chugs it down. After she’s completed the drink, she turns again to the patrons and points around at all of them, again revealing her hairy armpit and saying, “What man out there will buy a lady a drink?”
Once again, the little drunk slaps his hand down on the bar and says, “Bartender, I’d like to buy the ballerina another drink!”
After serving the lady her second drink, the bartender approaches the little drunk and states, “It’s your business if you want to buy the lady a drink, but why do you call her a ballerina?”
The drunk replies, “Sir, in my eyes, any woman who can lift her leg up that high has got to be a ballerina!”
