A team of private investigators working behind the scenes to find Madeleine McCann has been axed after being paid £500,000 from publicly donated funds.

The Find Madeleine Fund quietly engaged the services of a US-based company which was awarded the lucrative six-month contract earlier this year. The company, Oakley International, which boasts former British security service and FBI contacts, was hired to monitor the Madeleine Hotline, carry out detective work and review CCTV footage of possible sightings of the missing girl around the world.

A source revealed that the company had also spent resources in an attempt to infiltrate a paedophile ring in Belgium.

However, the company’s contract will now not be renewed. The Mail on Sunday has learned that double-glazing tycoon Brian Kennedy, who has been underwriting the fund’s search for Madeleine, has conducted a review of the agency’s work and has become unhappy with the progress it was making.
What progress. A child is missing. And they have no idea what happened to her.

I think most of us are here BECAUSE we have compassion, compassion for a little girl who met a terrible fate, either dead [99%] or alive [1%]. Most of us stay here because we want to know what happened to her and we want the person[s] responsible to be brought to justice. The fact that it’s been stated officially that there is no evidence that the previous suspects have been involved, does not take away that some person[s] was/were responsible and some person[s] knows/know what happened. And we want to know who they are. It is undeniable that the persons involved in this drama whom we know about, have been lying, twisting, changing statements and acting in a way, which has raised many questions as to whether or not they are in the know of something. And we, at least I, intend stay on until the truth will come out. Call us armchair detectives or fukwits, whatever you like. It won’t change much, believe me. On that note, I bid you good night and go back to my other life

That’s a very interesting question. If the book comes out in English, I imagine the McCanns would have no choice but to issue injunction proceedings. Equally I imagine Amaral and his publishers would then have no choice but to defend, so we may see a “day in court” after all (indeed several days.)
If the book comes out in English and the McCanns do nothing, what would that mean?
I think Amaral will wait until after 20 Sept for all the files to be made public and to see if the McCanns apply to re-open the investigation.
I agree with Amaral that you would expect the parents of an abducted child to do exactly that.
Though I don’t agree with him that Maddy’s body was frozen and moved.

Given the much-reported comments that Anj is replacing Charlton Heston as the NRA’s poster person in her willingness to blow away anyone -within range and no reasonable excuse-, I doubt she and Brad worry too much about how to replace missing offspring.
The trick is to not let them go missing in the first place…
