Madeleine McCann: Rose Ron, Murder And Portugal’s Bermuda Triangle For Missing Kids
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
SKY NEWS: “Tragic Case Of Israel’s Madeleine”
One day on from the news of Israel’s “our Maddie”, Sky news leads with “Israel’s our Maddie”. As Anorak readers know Israel’s our Maddie is called Rose Ron. Sky News - First for breaking news…
Rose Ron is missing. Rose Ron was missing:
No-one seemed to really notice until her grandfather walked into a Tel Aviv police station two weeks ago and confessed to her murder.
No-one? Subtext: Sky News didn’t notice.
Recounting his actions, Ronny Ron told police he got angry with Rose during a car journey and hit her. After he struck her and did not hear any sounds he realised she was dead. In his panic, he claims to have stuffed her body into a suitcase and thrown it into a river. Speaking in court, he called her death a ‘tragic mistake’.
So Israel’s Maddie is similar to our Maddie because..? And do bear in mind that none of our Maddie’s family members are accused of any hand in her disappearance. Indeed, Kate and Gerry McCann have been cleared. so too has Robert Murat. Sky commented on him…
“I have handled many investigations,” said the Israeli district police commander on Israeli radio. “But I can not recall a single other investigation that turned all our stomachs, that all of us come out of the investigation briefings with tears in their eyes.”
No, not our Maddie, but their Maddie…
THE TIMES: “The sad life and death of Rose, Israel’s Madeleine McCann”
You know, the French girl called Rose Ron..?
Rose, the little girl with haunted blue eyes and ashy blonde hair has been called the Israeli Madeleine McCann.
Yeah, blonde. Well, blonde-ish. Not as blonde as our Maddie, the original Maddie. But then she is a foreigner…
THE SUN: “Party Brit’s girl taken into care”
The Sun’s VERONICA LORRAINE is in Portimao, Portugal. She needs a story quick. She finds one, sort of:
A GIRL of eight was taken into care after her British mum went partying and left her alone in their holiday apartment — a few miles from where Madeleine McCann was snatched.
Jeeze! Just think what could have happened… Remember them?
Portimao is less than 25 miles from Praia da Luz, where Maddie vanished in May last year just before her fourth birthday.
Praia da Luz is the Bermuda Triangle for missing kidz. Fact!
The Sun understands the mum had been urged by a doctor to avoid drink on holiday as she was on medication to combat alcohol-related problems and depression.
How very understanding…
But she ignored the advice, went out boozing and ended up needing hospital treatment.
Some people. Tsk!
Police handed her frightened daughter to a temporary care home in Faro. After being assessed there she was transferred to a children’s home in nearby Loule.
A Portuguese children’s home…. Noooooo!
Madeleine McCann: Accept no substitute…

Marie N,
Also, if reported correctly last year, RMs sister is involved in adoptions!

Marie N,
Long time ago I had the impression that Maddie could have been the product of an illegal adoption. If this was the case, the parents would have to keep quiet or else. Just my own thoughts, of course. The real parents would have had to track them down, etc. etc.

Recently I came across some telling conversation, out of which I can conclude that Gailen is one of the new identities for Gandolf. Just to have you all warned (I nam sure many of you know this anyway). I may be wrong, but unlikely.

Jo,
Be careful with ear infection, it is serious! We missed you.
It seems to me the whole case is dormant now, and will stay that way unless some real strong evidence will be found. The PJ can’t waste their time and money on it endlessly, and to be honest, all it brings them is problems with GB, hatred and sarcasm from the British press, threats from Clarrie, and complaints from the family. Also, I am not sure, but I get the feeling the judiciary authorities still depend on the political people in place in Portugal. Maybe I am wrong.

Wavey,
I believe the images at the top of the thread are of the little girl seen in Morocco compared to the last image, which is Maddie. That Moroccan girl was check out and it was not Maddie.

Daisy,
If the biological father didn’t try to get the child before, why would he then? The MCs would have thought of him as a suspect immediately, and they would have told the police, as not only did it exonerate them completely, it also gave them a strong hope of getting the child back.

This is the first time in ages I have been here for so long.I have spend all this time mad with pain and sleeping with the help of….err… powerful painkiller through my veins.A real mush.
It is lovely to be able to at least read a little bit.
It is time to think that all the info-news published now could well be the way to the re opening of the case…..Some new aspects like the 24 pics has been well slept under the rug, hasnt it?
Is there any echo of anything in the british media?like gerrys paternity?

The police were refused permission by their bosses to access mobile phone records, but some calls appear to be traceable - Amaral does say that they knew where GM was at one particular time (when it was claimed that he was elsewhere) because the mobile phone company could tell where he was when he made a call.

I don’t think the PJ were allowed to track the deleted phone calls. It seems to me that they have been thoroughly discouraged from the start, to try and investigate anything else than an abductor. How do you explain too that noone ever tried to know if really K M had been in contact with so many corpses at her work? How do you explain that the PJ never managed to get the bank accounts?
The reluctance of British authorities to investigate along that line was compounded by the fact it took some time for the PJ to consider the family as suspect.

According’s to Amaral’s book, an Irish couple and two sons saw a man coming down a street, carrying a child in light, rose pyjamas, bare feet, going towards the beach.
The same description gaven by Jane Tanner(clothes), but the man had dark, short hair and he was walking very fast, the opposit way the way JT described.
Tanner described the man going towards Murat’s home, the Irish people described going to the beach, the opposit way.
Jane said 9.15 pm and the Irish about 10.00 pm.
Those Irish people went back to Praia da Luz, in all secrecy, on May 26th 2007, and showed the PJ where they saw the man.
There are more details about this story.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Marie N,
I think the question of paternity does matter. A biological father abduction could be another angle to this saga, which was explored initially here but I thought the question of paternity had been settled long ago. Maybe it wasn’t??
August 27th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Daisy it would be interesting to know the dynamics between Kate, Gerry, Jane and Russell. Was the main friendship between Gerry and Russell, with them both being consultants, their partners tagging on? Or were Kate and Jane the big pals? Or maybe the two couples didn’t really know each other that well at all?

“The offence of abandonment carries a maximum ten-year jail sentence in Portugal, but only if prosecutors can prove a parent intended to neglect a child”
A question springs to my feeble mind: were they informed ….beforehand…..?Would anyone be surprised?
At least, one thing is sure: the portuguese are NOT having it: they react straight away.
How comes? NOT a word of any consular nor governmental help here……?
Is this because the woman is not part of the “Crème de La Crème” and cant afford extraditon lawyers?

Where is Coco? anyone “saw” her? The dolls Collection should have an indispensible addition: an Angelina Doll with 6 kids hanging onto her skirts or D&G jeans, massive lips and so many credit cards she can possiblyExotic Glam sort of thing….

OK I’ve not been on here for ages but it seems like deja vu as the image to the thread is an old one I’ve seen before.
Can someone tell me what it’s all about, is it a photo shop image kindly enhanced by team McC so we don’t get the wrong impression that there were’nt too many photos available at the time of the “abduction”.
Please let me know….I hate to be left on the outside looking in.
Maybe I need to keep up. Answers on a post card, stamp etc.
Cheers,

Just a thought on the mobile phone, does anyone know if a UK pin works in Portugal or do you need a European one?
****************************************************************************
Not sure what you mean by UK pin… if you have a UK mobile phone, you can use it in Europe if you have ‘roaming’, and if it’s a pay-as-you-go you can top up the credit in any bank cash machine using your normal bank card.
M and A
thats what I mean, some may have to buy ‘roaming’ and so have two pin cards/numbers, on the same phone

I don’t understand how they didn’t have enough DNA to check that. Her DNA must have been all over the place, if not in PDL, at least in their home in England. Personnally, I don’t think it matters much though.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
M and A, I know that when you go to France and Italy your mobile automatically goes over to foreign networks when you cross the border. Not sure about Portugal, but I imagine you can use your mobile there without having to change the SIM or anything. Just costs a bit more!
I thought it was possible for mobile companies to retrieve deleted data, and anyway triangulation can detect whether someone made a call and roughly from what point. Wasn’t one of the 7/7 suspects tracked to Rome by triangulation? And didn’t it help do for Ian Huntley because one of the girls had a mobile and he switched it off?
Seems a bit defeatist for Amaral to say: “Oh dear, looks like they’ve deleted some data!”
Of course there is nothing to say that K&G weren’t offered the use of a landline or someone else’s mobile when e.g. calling the Uk that night. Maybe the PJ researched this thoroughly, who knows?
August 27th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Abraham,
I totally agree with you that it is odd that Gerry is not backing JT. He might know that it is not true but does not wish to tell a lie himself to back her up. He might think that she made it up to divert from the situation of the neglect and help them all.
My very personal believe is that JT knows more than we know and has made up the “abductor”. I think she saw someone, someone she knows…. and made up the abductor just in case somebody else saw him that night too. A little cover for herself and the other person?

Hi Jo! I’m glad you mentioned the paternity thing - I thought I saw a post with a link to Joana just now, but it appears to have been zapped. Either that or I’m going mad, but at least in that case you would be too! However, I would dispute the part of the article which says the police doubted whether GM was Madeleine’s biological father - I don’t think they doubted it, I think they just wanted confirmation, because if he wasn’t then a kidnap by the biological father could be another possibility.

Catalina,
I agree many things are possible. If she had a least a call on her phone’s memory but Gerry had deleted them all, I wonder what is HE hiding?
There seem to be, however, more inconsistencies in the whereabouts and timelines of others in the group than the parents’.
I’m still not sure what exactly Kate said when she realized that Maddie was missing … if in fact she said “they’ve taken her” …. who are they??
I still believe this case is bigger than we imagine and there are more involved than we think.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:23 pm

With the doubts over paternity I would love to see him having one of his furious fury
How are you all? I am cheating (again) but I am soooooo bored with nothing to do and hating this forced rest.

August 27th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Daisy, I think a lot depends on whether you believe JT’s sighting of the “abductor”. JT is quite clear about what she saw - a man carrying a child Maddy’s age wearing pyjamas of the kind Maddy was wearing. So either JT is telling the truth, or she made the whole thing up as a false sighting.
In either case, a key question for me is why Gerry did not back Tanner up, when she said that she saw him in the street moments before she saw the abductor. If she was telling the truth, or if the whole thing was part of collusion by the T9, then in either case Gerry would have backed up her story.
He knew she was going to tell the police about it, but in his statement he distances himself from it completely, how odd.

I believe the mother is telling the truth in her statement to the PJ. Aparently she had no hesitation to hand over her mobile phone to them. If she was hiding something, she would have been more reluctant to hand it over.
***************************************************************************
According to their statements on May 4th, both Kate and Gerry agreed that their mobile phones could be checked. However, Amaral says the information about calls had already been deleted by then: Kate received a call from Gerry late on the night of 3rd May, it showed up on her phone but not on Gerry’s. Gerry’s family in the U.K. say he phoned them, but the calls apparently weren’t recorded on his phone. Kate apparently received or made no calls whatsoever from the time she arrived in Portugal until Gerry called her late on May 3rd. That’s possible. It’s also possible that they cleared the memory of their phones on the night Madeleine went missing, or the morning after, but under those circumstances I think I would have been more anxious to trace my missing child than worry about my mobile phone. However, I don’t dispute your suggestion that Kate may have been kept in the dark by others.
