unfortunately the word "lady" has connotations with good behaviour and manners, something sadly lacking these days in many areas - I think this is probably why it has fallen out of use, because in most cases, the term no longer applies...

@Catalina

I would prefer it if people called lady’s lady’s as women i think in IMO is derogatory and goes back to the caveman days. As a 21st century man I think lady’s should be called lady’s. So I am in total agreement with you

Whether I am a woman is another matter haha!

We went through all this back in the 1970s, I think it was. That's how we ended up with 'chairperson' or just 'chair'. It was silly then, IMO, and it's just as silly now. Anyway, I'm sure I was taught that the legal definition of whether something is reasonable is "whether the man in the street would consider it reasonable". If it's good enough for the law, it should be good enough for everyone else! I understand that it is no longer acceptable to refer to women as ladies - as a female person, I object to that! I would far rather be referred to as a lady than as a woman, in the sense of "There's a lady here" or "There's a woman here"!
