Madeleine McCann: Maddie For Rose Ron, Praia Da Luz Moves And Whacking Stephanie Bysh
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE SUN: “Hol mum of left girl faces jail”
To Portugal…
A BRITISH mum whose daughter was taken into care on holiday faces up to ten years in jail.
It’s “cash-strapped Stephanie Bysh”.
What do we know about here?
She a brunette. And, as reported, she and one Ariella D’Gamo were “sleeping on the streets before a friend took them in. The worried pal took the eight-year-old girl to cops in Lagos, Portugal. She is now staying at a children’s home.”
How does Madeleine McCann fit in?
Bysh fled the resort — near where Madeleine McCann disappeared in May 2007 — but collapsed with kidney problems in Portimao 15 miles away.
That close, eh. Yesterday the incident was 25 miles from where our Maddie went missing. Such are the facts.
DAILY MAIL: “Fears the ‘Israeli Madeleine McCann’ has been killed by her own mother and grandfather”
You mean Rose Ron’s grandfather who told police that he had killed the 4-year-old?
What more of their Maddie?
At its heart lies the bizarre love triangle in which little Rose’s grandfather fell in love with his son’s young bride and fathered two more daughters with her. Police say the grandfather has admitted killing the child and dumping her in a river, but no body has been found and there is no forensic evidence proving her death.
Just like our Maddie, then? It’s uncanny.
Ha’aretz (Israel): “’Sick twist’: World media plays up story of ‘Israeli Madeleine McCann’”
Rose Ron is missing. She’s been given the nickname Maddie…

Just So and Val:
The McCanns are probably hoping for another generous out-of-court settlement to boost the fund again, but they have picked the wrong person in Amaral IMO - I think he’s spoiling for a fight! Clearance doth protest too much, too, methinks; the McCanns know that the book and the police DVD have been/are being translated on the internet. Despite their threats of going after bloggers, they appear to be much more frightened of ANYTHING detrimental to them being printed in the British press, presumably because of the vast numbers of people who would see it. But some papers do appear to be getting a bit braver now, possibly because they believe they can’t be sued for repeating something which has been released on the police DVD. Perhaps things are gradually changing.

chatelaine, go to the skynews website and input ‘mccanns’ into their search bar, it’s the top link.

chenier,
Well, judging by the action he took against the PJ after saying that the gloves were off, I bet he’s really got Amaral shaking in his books after this threat.
August 28th, 2008 at 5:39 pm
catalina, two bottles of wine isn’t even a glass each. maybe some had a glass of beer instead who knows. but what puzzles me is where did the papers get all the information from that was right, but on the wrong day, for instance, or this. it’s like someones rewriting history
the story gets more and more incredulous as it goes along.

I believe Amaral studied Law before joining the Police Force, no doubt he and his
Publishers would have made sure there is nothing Libellous. A couple of queries:-
1. How can CM rant and rave unless he has seen a full English translation, probably
commissioned by the U.K. Lawyers.
2. Having admitted they tried to stop it being published in the U.K., what are they
afraid of?
3, The book is apparently published in Portugese , where there will not be much
interest to those who don”t speak Portugese, so why bring it to the U.K.?
4 How can the McCanns possibly think of suing Amaral with the Fund almost
dried up?
Looks like the British Press are now starting to turn. IMO

Think we’ve been there before, Sam. They were on an all-in holiday arrangement: travel, accommodation, breakfast and dinner [wine included]. The receipt must have been for the ‘extras”. Where can I see a copy? Cannot find it on the web.

Well, much as the thought of Clarrie with a sock in his mouth appeals, and appals, what’s with the threats?
As opposed to the action?
Weirder and weirder…

So is Clarry admitting that no action has been taken yet, no behind the scenes injuctions or libel actions that we will only find out about on the eve of trial?
Interesting.
Of course if there is a contested libel trial, there may be a “reconstruction” after all!

Libel laws are weighed very heavily on the side of the aggrieved party; they don’t have to prove that what has been written about them isn’t true, but the person accused of libel does has to prove that what they wrote is true. In Amaral’s case, he says he isn’t worried about that at all, he would welcome going to court and showing that everything he says is documented and proven.
Sam: I have heard about the receipt showing two bottles of wine before; I think in the first place the McCanns said they thought it may have been three or four. However, they were drinking wine before they went to the restaurant, so some or all of the others may also have been drinking beforehand. Buying just two or three bottles of wine between nine does not indicate sobriety, necessarily. Not that I am intimating that any of the group was not sober.

just so are you having as larf ?
August 28th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I’m not sure why they should see Amaral’s publication as a heartache.
Looking on the bright side, they should see it as more money to help find Madeleine once they’ve sued Amaral.
And, of course it will be a chance to show in court that they are wholly and entirely innocent and will stop all internet forum posters from suggesting otherwise.
August 28th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
bring it on clearance ! Amaral will look forward with glee to court date you fool , mcconn will have to prove him wrong
August 28th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
If they try to sue have they got to prove that what he is saying is not true, defamatory etc etc or does it not work like that?
August 28th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
skynews has a page containing snippets from the dvd which they say they are updating continuously, it’s ry interesting to read, one thing reported was that the receipt for the meal that evening. i don’t know what to make of that, it so contradicts last years newspaper reports where i think i read the mccanns them selves stated it hadnt been nine bottles, but more than two i think, does anyone remember ?

“Last night the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “This account has gross inaccuracies and is grossly defamatory.
He added: “Mr Amaral and his publishers should not mistake a lack of action yet for any lack of long-term action.
“He is presented as a world-class Madeleine expert but what does he know?
“Do you know how many times he interviewed Kate and Gerry when he was on the case - not once!”

MADDIE: OUTRAGE AT BOOK
Cop accuses McCanns
By Jerry Lawton, 28 August 2008
Madeleine McCann’s parents faced fresh heartache last night as a best-seller on the case hit Britain.
Kate and Gerry are already planning to sue retired Portuguese cop Goncalo Amaral, 48, over allegations in his book.
They have launched a bid to stop it being published in the UK. But the first copies have arrived here via Portuguese booksellers.
Chunks of the 221 pages have been translated into English and posted onto the internet. The book, seen by the Daily Star, includes photos from police files.
One shows Kate and Gerry, both 40, and their holiday pals giving information about Madeleine at the scene just hours after she vanished.
The police chief criticises the McCanns, their friends, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Leicestershire Police.
Last night the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “This account has gross inaccuracies and is grossly defamatory.
“The conclusions are entirely false. They suggest Kate and Gerry were involved in the death, accidental or otherwise, of Madeleine and covered it up.”
He added: “Mr Amaral and his publishers should not mistake a lack of action yet for any lack of long-term action.
“He is presented as a world-class Madeleine expert but what does he know?
“Do you know how many times he interviewed Kate and Gerry when he was on the case - not once!”
Madeleine, now five, vanished from the family holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, a year ago last May.

Coco,
Thanks for the title. Saint is a bit early for me since I am still alive, but it is nice to think I am a livng saint though. I’ll have cards printed with my titles, because funnily enough, you are the only one Coco who noticed my sanctity (is that the word?), maybe because you have special gifts.
I’d don’t know if I’d like to work in the same team as Clearance. Does his new name mean he will lower his pretentions as regards his salary?
