A few facts? There is only one fact: a child disappeared.
Gerry revealed: “They realise Madeleine is not here but they don’t know the details.”
What details?
DAILY MAIL: “Kate McCann: We’ve spent £1m trying to find Madeleine”
Speaking about their spending on the search for Madeleine, Kate said: ‘It’s a lot of money but we can’t set a limit. A child does not have a price. We will pay what we have to.”
A child might have a price. Isn’t that part of the fear?
DAILY EXPRESS: “KATE’S FURY AT DETECTIVE WHO PUBLISHED BOOK ON MADELEINE”

KATE McCann has broken her dignified silence to attack the Portuguese detective who led the bungled hunt for Madeleine. She slated Goncalo Amaral for failing to find her little girl and for trying to cash in on the tragedy by writing a book

As for Kate’s fury…

Says Gerry McCann: “I will be honest. We have got no idea whether Madeleine is alive or not. What we are certain of is that there is absolutely no evidence.”

“Kate and Gerry have chosen to speak out to an element of the Portu¬guese media because they firmly believe that there may well be important information that somebody knows in Portugal. They will do everything they can to generate new leads.”

Sean Hammond, a lecturer in forensic psychology at University College Cork, says high-profile murders can often have a profound impact on our behaviour and our feelings of safety. “They can leave an indelible mark. Even though the risks may be very low, people may no longer feel that it is safe to walk the streets at night. If you take a case like that of Madeleine McCann, people would have adjusted their behaviour towards their children as a result of that.”

Yes, I watched it.
Until my eyeballs started to bleed.
Admittedly, I dispatched the Offspring to self defence classes when she was much younger than the child in the video.
The kids had a great time, learned to be cautious without being afraid, and learned how to deal with people trying to grab them.
I have yet to meet a small child who does not enjoy practising shouting their heads off…

Just found this new thread and regardin the DNA evidence, I”m sure it was from the
files that the FSS originally had 15-19 markers which were subsequently “lost”.
Stuart Prior was furious and suggested that amount of evidence would be enough to
charge a suspect in the U.K..
Also, I did address this to Rasputin in the other thread, in the mccannfiles.co.uk
Final Report, it states the PJ could not confirm any sighting of Madeleine after 5.30pm. on 3rd May. David Payne says, at Gerry”s request, he checked on Kate at
6.30pm and she was bathing the children. He says he was there for 30minutes, she says 30 seconds.

I would have thought that any Portuguese citizen would have informed the PJ
or the Portuguese newspapers if they had this very important information.
Plus…there’s a £1, 500, 000 reward on offer.
Am sure any sensible Portuguese citizen would who had such important
information would have already put in a claim. Long ago.

I think you have to bear in mind that rationality disappeared a long time ago in the way that people debate the disappearance of Madeleine.
The Mirror’s article about the 2,550 pages of sightings spread over 17 volumes, revealing
‘that every effort was made to interview each witness and check out every sighting.’
is simply ignored, since it doesn’t fit the profile.
Equally, the fact that had the PJ wanted to fit anyone up they would have done a much better job of it is discarded since that, too, doesn’t fit the profile.
The fact that they were British dogs, with a British handler, who checked a lot of different places, is slid over, since that doesn’t fit the profile.
In fact, anything which doesn’t fit the profile is ignored, since the old standby of libeling Murat et al is no longer available to anyone with any sense.
The alternative is to libel the British dog handler, which is equally unwise since he would most certainly be able to seek and win libel damages in our jurisdiction….
