After hearing Purnell's cloned policies as per workfare, copied from the Conservative's welfare agenda, I thought that New Labour had finally reached rock bottom. Once proud of introducing the minimum wage for all workers, Purnell now wants to sentence the long term unemployed to permanent community service until they get a job, die, retire, fall ill or get pregnant: these people will NOT receive the minimum wage for their work but, because their employer is the government, THAT doesn't matter.

I thought that was the lowest point, a new nadir that the Labour Party had slumpted to.

And now I hear that the gocernment are going to fund the psychopathic bull Jeremy Kyle to abuse the unemployed on national daytime television! Does Gordon Brown really know who Kyle is and the kind of man he is?

Truly woeful.

Who are these who work so tirelessly and efficiently that they have to twist and moan about their ' hard-earned money' paying for Joe Dole-ite? Not one of the jobs I have had was particularly difficult, and in most I had to actively look for things to do just to stop myself from opening a vein with a letter-opener or piece of machinery just to alleviate the boredom.

All the while, colleagues wandered about with important-looking but meaningless pieces of paper on fictional errands and duties; or simply backheeled work to others and chatted idly while surfing the web on work computers. Most of the middle-management I have met were make-weights filling their days until the retirement clock was handed over...and these were the types who complained about 'scum getting paid for doing nothing' while nipping off for twenty-five minute shits outside of break times, and eyeing up the temps at the vending machines for whole afternoons.

One stunning example of this kind of [edit] (a nameless small-busnessman for whom I had the misfortune to work) had daily rants about 'thieving layabouts picking his pocket'. He wound up fleeing the country after diddling the taxman to the tune of 60 grand.
