SAFEWAY IDs Everyone In Your Party When You Buy Alcohol.
Daniel went to his local Safeway with his brother to buy some beer. Daniel had his ID, but his brother didn’t-but that’s okay, because Daniel was the one buying the beer. The cashier, however, felt otherwise, and wouldn’t complete the transaction without carding both of them. The store manager told him “the policy is, at the discretion of the clerk, to check the ID of every person present.”
The manager hinted that this was a liability issue, but it sounds to us like Safeway’s employees have decided to play morality police instead of following the actual rules.

Me too!
Of course I never go to Safeways, but I’m still offended!

I’m quite insulted that they never ask me…

This happened to me at a local supermarket in Michigan when I went to visit my folks a few years ago. I was with my older boyfriend who was buying a 6 pack for himself. They demanded to see my ID as well. I was 20 at the time. I argued whether they still did this to parents with young children, and all I got was the repeated “this is our policy” rubbish. Surely if I was trying to score their coveted booze, I’d wait out in the parking lot like a normal bored teenager, but no, I was standing right there buying a few groceries for myself while my partner got himself a few beers. I mean, imagine if I was going to drink a whole six pack at the tender age of 20 - just think of that carnage that would ensue! We left all of our shopping and went across the road to the liquor store.

A friend of mine in her forties was asked for ID because she had her eleven year old daughter with her when she tried to buy a bottle of brandy in Tesco.
She simply told them to F off, abandoned all her shopping at the till and walked out leaving chaos as some had been checked through and some hadn’t.
No-one tried to stop her!
