International Madeleine McCann: And Eye For Denise Pipitone And Finding Rose Pizem
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found safe and well after four years’”
Italy has it’s own Maddie. Like Isreal? Are we working throught alphabet? If so, look out Jamaica…
Urgent DNA tests are being carried out on the eight year old girl found in Greece to see if she is Denise Pipitone, who vanished in 2004. She missing from outside her grandmother’s house while playing.
And?
News of the discovery will bring fresh hope to Gerry and Kate McCann after their daughter disappeared in Portugal last year, and for the parents of Ben Needham who vanished in 1991 from the same Greek island, Kos, where the Italian girl was found.
Like Our Maddie?
The DNA tests were ordered after Denise’s mother Piera, shown photographs of the girl found in Greece, said the “shape of the eyes was exactly that” of her daughter.
DAILY MIRROR: “DNA tests on ‘Italian Madeleine’”
Madeleine McCann has been missing since last May. A spokesman for her parents said: “If this is Denise then it will give Kate and Gerry immense strength and hope that Madeleine will be found.”
TIMES: “Missing girl Denise Pipitone ‘found begging’ after four-year search”
Greek police traced the Roma woman, 34, who was charged with abducting a minor. One police official said that the girl had the same birthmark under her left eye as Denise, and only spoke Italian. She is being kept under observation in the island’s hospital. The case is as well known in Italy as that of Madeleine McCann. Denise’s mother, Piera Maggio, has made repeated appeals on television for help in finding her.
Italians know of their own missing child as well as they do of Our Maddie?
DAILY MAIL: “Girl dubbed Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found alive and well’ four years after she vanished”
Denise’s mother Piera, who said the birthmark and the shape of the eyes were ‘exactly the same’ as her daughter’s. She added that there had been numerous false alarms in the past, so she would not allow herself to get her hopes up.
But the media can get your hopes up for you…
Last night the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘If these reports are true it is fantastic news for her family. But it would also give hope to Kate and Gerry because this is exactly the sort of situation that could prove that a child can go missing and be found safe and well.’
If…
THE SCOTSMAN: “Remains may be missing girl”
ISRAELI divers yesterday found a suitcase containing remains police believe belong to a missing girl whose grandfather is being held on suspicion of killing her.
The discovery in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon River marked a breakthrough in the case of four-year old Rose Pizem – missing since May. Her disappearance has transfixed Israel.
HA-ARETZ (Israel): “Until the next tragedy”
Faced with a suspect with a devilish face, an exciting and unusual family story, searches in the river - the Yarkon has never before raised such interest - and a murder without a body, we absolutely wallowed in this story. Oh, how we loved hearing the sexologist talk about the couple’s therapy the two lovers received, grandfather and mother forever. How we wanted to peek further and further into the “Israeli Madeleine McCann” family, which suddenly appeared in our lives; we invaded it with a mixture of voyeurism, gossip and a pinch, just a pinch, of real concern for the missing girl’s fate. Someone will make a film about it.
GREAT YARMOUTH MERCURY: “Visit church in cyberspace”
At 900 years old, a global opening ceremony for Great Yarmouth’s magnificent parish church might seem somewhat belated…
But in cyber world virtual people called avatars are teleporting into St Nicholas’ for a zoom around the vestry or even a stroll on the roof.
For the landmark building has been transported lock stock and wonky weather cock into the 3D virtual reality world of Second Life and now ranks among hundreds of real buildings turned into cartoon locations on the booming internet enterprise where 10m people from all over the world mingle.
Second Life…
Playboy has its own bunny-shaped island and British police have posted missing Madeleine McCann posters on virtual buildings.
Have you seen Madeleine McCann?

Re K’s personality having a number of facets, was surprised to read on McCannfiles 1st extract from K’s diary
“4th May. Barely having slept, I woke Amanda. Gerry and I began to search the streets at six in the morning when dawn began to break. We didn’t find anything. I’m desperate”.
ASSUMING that this is a correct quote, is the style consistent with a mother who believes that her infant daughter has just been abducted by a predatory Paedo- ?
KM is inarticulate when interviewed, so what is the message that this literary style is giving us.
Even if she were to have written a diary on 4th May, I suspect a real one would have looked more like - “No sleep - searched from 6 with G, - nothing - desperate.
Yet again the style is the pure Disney “Barely having slept…dawn began to break.”
I do however suspect that it is not a real quote, unless someone can give us a link.

They sued, and won, over the accusations in that article; you can’t get off the libel hook by claiming that since a particular newspaper, which wasn’t sued, said the same thing.
We await Pamela Fenn’s witness statement.

No matter what we all want to speculate, the FACTS are that a little innocent girl is missing and the parents have been released from their arguido status. The PJ has, so far, been unable to charge them with anything … and I don’t see any change to these facts in the forseeable future.
People perceive things differently and that could account for the differences in the statements and timelines. Don’t quote me wrongly … am not saying that the parents were or were not involved. We don’t know that. But so far, they are free and have not been charged.

I agree with you. All along the case, I got the same feeling of contradicting words, facts, behaviours. I analyse that feeling I got as coming not from me, but from the case itself, with something very unclear, which turns us into schizophrenics. We aren’t told the whole truth.
On Joana’s site yesterday, the journalists also spoke of Father Pacheco. They recorded him speaking of the McCs as of “almas perdidas”, saying that sin is to be condemned, the act is condemned, but not the sinner, who is to be helped. The more one has sinned, he said, the more help is needed, that is what christian religion is about. (If I understood well, as they speak very fast and my Spanish is far from good). Some on the program took his words as meaning they were guilty, but one of the persons in the program, maybe the psychiatrist, said it might mean they felt guilty (for not having protected their child), but no more, and “almas perdidas”, lost souls, they were anyway for having lost their child. They seemed to agree that there was some ambiguity in Father Pacheco’s words.

Jo,
When are you going to stop referring to someone who has undergone IVF treatment as if that is a terrible thing to do? You call them the McCannIVF !!! For goodness sake, give it up !!!
I don’t know if you have children, but not all people are able to have them just like that. I hope that no-one you hold dear, ever has to undergone IVF treatment … it is not a joke and it is painful (emotionally, not physically), costly, frustrating and extremely stressfull.
Grow up, Jo !!!

my answer is i don’t think there is another side to kate mcann, i think a tradgedy happened that night, or as gerry termed it, a disaster and she, or both behaved accordingly. you seem to be promoting the idea, or you have the idea (?) that covering up a crime requires coldness or duplicity or something like that, something evil, and i don’t think that’s the case.
@
Sam, what kind of tragedy do you have in mind? We do read about these things in the papers. A toddler once was alone in a car, playing with the electric windows, and sadly strangled herself. The public were sympathetic to the parents and ultimately this tragedy led to improved safety features in cars. Another one I remember is a teenage boy, apparently fit and healthy, playing football one day and then died due to a latent heart defect no one knew about. Again the family got nothing but sympathy (I think in fact he was a relative of Gabby Logan, TV presenter.)
So why cover up a straight tragedy?

“4th May. Barely having slept, I woke Amanda. Gerry and I began to search the streets at six in the morning when dawn began to break. We didn’t find anything. I’m desperate”.
Strange, when she herself said in an interview last year (think BBC?) in response to a question which went long the lines of “some locals in PDL have taken a week off work to take part in the searches for M. Have you yourself done any searching? After a pause, K replied that in the first days they were practically “non functioning” so no, she hadn’t done any physical searching herself, but they had just been “working really, really hard, you know?”.
When I saw the interview I was puzzled as to how a person could be non functioning and working really hard at the same time and this diary entry is saying she did go out and search, directly contradicting her own words. K seems to me to be rather a complex character after all.

What would be your answer to my earlier post?…….
“I would also say that had the press had any info at all from friends or associates claiming there was another side to Kate McCann then you can guarantee we would have known about it.
“There has been nothing”!

G’day all,
Garth, I must agree with you. Not one person, either from their town, work, etc. has ever come out with gossip about the family and their personalities. There is always the envious one out there, that would make the most of an opportunity like this, to make nasty remarks about someone … but there hasn’t been. The McCanns seem to have been liked by people they know, work with, etc. All comments that I have read have been about what a lovely family they are.
Clouseau,
I believe KM was off work because she wanted to spend more time with the kids (I read it long time ago somewhere) …. hence only working part time.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:56 am
The whole case of little Denise is on Enfants Kidnapés. It is much more complicated than is said here. She belongs to a very complicated quarrelsome family, the site even refers to something more serious.

The Truth of the Lie
“Asimismo, Amaral ha subrayado que el matrimonio McCann reconoció haber suministrado a sus hijos un fármaco, que ellos dijeron que era paracetamol, pero que fue identificado como un sedante en el transcurso de las investigaciones.
La noche de la desaparición de su hija, Kate McCann “puso la mano delante de la nariz de sus otros hijos, aún dormidos, para ver si respiraban”, ha relatado el ex policía, que ha considerado que “no es normal que una madre actúe así después de perder una hija”.
*********
“Amaral underlined that the Mccann couple has admitted they had given some medication to their children, that they said it was paracetamol but it was identified like a sedatif during the investigation.
The night of the disappearance of her daughter,Kate Mccann held her hand in front of her other children nose, still asleep,to see if they were breathing”,said the ex police officer who consider that “it is not normal a mother acts like this after she has lost a daughter”
