International Madeleine McCann: And Eye For Denise Pipitone And Finding Rose Pizem
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found safe and well after four years’”
Italy has it’s own Maddie. Like Isreal? Are we working throught alphabet? If so, look out Jamaica…
Urgent DNA tests are being carried out on the eight year old girl found in Greece to see if she is Denise Pipitone, who vanished in 2004. She missing from outside her grandmother’s house while playing.
And?
News of the discovery will bring fresh hope to Gerry and Kate McCann after their daughter disappeared in Portugal last year, and for the parents of Ben Needham who vanished in 1991 from the same Greek island, Kos, where the Italian girl was found.
Like Our Maddie?
The DNA tests were ordered after Denise’s mother Piera, shown photographs of the girl found in Greece, said the “shape of the eyes was exactly that” of her daughter.
DAILY MIRROR: “DNA tests on ‘Italian Madeleine’”
Madeleine McCann has been missing since last May. A spokesman for her parents said: “If this is Denise then it will give Kate and Gerry immense strength and hope that Madeleine will be found.”
TIMES: “Missing girl Denise Pipitone ‘found begging’ after four-year search”
Greek police traced the Roma woman, 34, who was charged with abducting a minor. One police official said that the girl had the same birthmark under her left eye as Denise, and only spoke Italian. She is being kept under observation in the island’s hospital. The case is as well known in Italy as that of Madeleine McCann. Denise’s mother, Piera Maggio, has made repeated appeals on television for help in finding her.
Italians know of their own missing child as well as they do of Our Maddie?
DAILY MAIL: “Girl dubbed Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found alive and well’ four years after she vanished”
Denise’s mother Piera, who said the birthmark and the shape of the eyes were ‘exactly the same’ as her daughter’s. She added that there had been numerous false alarms in the past, so she would not allow herself to get her hopes up.
But the media can get your hopes up for you…
Last night the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘If these reports are true it is fantastic news for her family. But it would also give hope to Kate and Gerry because this is exactly the sort of situation that could prove that a child can go missing and be found safe and well.’
If…
THE SCOTSMAN: “Remains may be missing girl”
ISRAELI divers yesterday found a suitcase containing remains police believe belong to a missing girl whose grandfather is being held on suspicion of killing her.
The discovery in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon River marked a breakthrough in the case of four-year old Rose Pizem – missing since May. Her disappearance has transfixed Israel.
HA-ARETZ (Israel): “Until the next tragedy”
Faced with a suspect with a devilish face, an exciting and unusual family story, searches in the river - the Yarkon has never before raised such interest - and a murder without a body, we absolutely wallowed in this story. Oh, how we loved hearing the sexologist talk about the couple’s therapy the two lovers received, grandfather and mother forever. How we wanted to peek further and further into the “Israeli Madeleine McCann” family, which suddenly appeared in our lives; we invaded it with a mixture of voyeurism, gossip and a pinch, just a pinch, of real concern for the missing girl’s fate. Someone will make a film about it.
GREAT YARMOUTH MERCURY: “Visit church in cyberspace”
At 900 years old, a global opening ceremony for Great Yarmouth’s magnificent parish church might seem somewhat belated…
But in cyber world virtual people called avatars are teleporting into St Nicholas’ for a zoom around the vestry or even a stroll on the roof.
For the landmark building has been transported lock stock and wonky weather cock into the 3D virtual reality world of Second Life and now ranks among hundreds of real buildings turned into cartoon locations on the booming internet enterprise where 10m people from all over the world mingle.
Second Life…
Playboy has its own bunny-shaped island and British police have posted missing Madeleine McCann posters on virtual buildings.
Have you seen Madeleine McCann?

I have always thought that the frantic phone calls to their parents and their parents view of the couple’s reaction was the most important piece of evidence in their favour.

Mawning!
This exerpt says it all really…
Susan Healy: ‘The police took us to the airport and we… we flew over to Portugal and Kate and Gerry, when we arrived at the apartment, were hysterical. Their voices were out of control and I think it was just blind panic and fear that they couldn’t get through to the police or to anybody, errm… to make it clear that they felt Madeleine had been abducted and they were afraid that every minute that was lost was crucial to getting Madeleine back. Errm… my daughter is very, very placid, very even tempered, and I saw her scream that night at the Consul. Screaming for help, for somebody to do something to… to help them to get Madeleine back. But I… I’ve never heard Kate raise her voice, she doesn’t raise her voice, and she was shouting down the phone, I think, to emphasise how important it was, errm… to the British Consul.
————————-
This is from the mother who knows her daughter better than anyone and who recognises the panic and frustration in her own daughter.
There is nothing insincere in her statement.
The conspiracy theorists are fools.

HI BF and sam!
But in any case, the dog’s reaction was never considered by the PJ to be evidence - so Gerry’s complaint and/or attempt at discrediting dogs does not stand.
It’s a bit like out of range PSA (prostate specific antigen) results which MAY indicate presence of prostatic cancer (or just benign hypertrophy). So if PSA results are over an established range, there is a suspicion of cancer and a further (possibly invasive) work-up is required
The same happened in this case: suspicion of involvement based (also but not only!) on the dogs behaviour, subsequent ‘work-up (further investigation) associated with arguidoship (which actually acted to the benefit of the McC’s since their status allowed them to refuse to answer many questions. No hard evidence was found.
The only real diffence I can see in the example I set forth is that biopsies are usually 100% reliable, whereas investigations do not always produce a clear-cut outcome (innocent or guilty) Often the outcome is ‘not enough evidence either way” (which despite what Rasputin likes to repeat, does not mean innocence at all). It just means that no charges can be brought
ciao and a lovely day to all

hi :), i was reading the group that should not be mentioned here, re the dogs, i nitially their scenting of cadaver was not denied by the mccanns, on the contrary excuses were found, i mean reasons, were found to explain the scent, the six coprses kate had handled before going on holiday. then they sought to discredit the dogs ‘evidence’ by citing the zapata case, this was a case where a judge had ruled that cadaver dogs signalling was not admissable in a murder trial, earlier on this year though zapata admitted to the murder and his confession revealed that the dogs had been correct.

Transcript of the Healys Interview
Clip No.1:
Susan Healy: ‘Gerry called me. He said, errm… “There’s been a disaster, it’s a disaster” and I thought there’d been a car accident. And it took me a while ’cause he was hysterical, errm… it took me a while to realise. He… he just said “Madeleine’s been abducted from her bed”. Errm… And, I sort of said “No, Gerry”, you know, and he… he was, sort of, at pains to emphasise how important it was because, at this time, I think they’d been looking for some time and they hadn’t told us right away. They’d looked for an hour or so. She said: “She’s gone, mum, she’s gone, mum”, and… and I said “We’ll get her back”. And I was able to say this to Kate for quite a few months, “We’ll get her back, we’ll get her back”. And now I find it is getting harder to say that to her. Errm… I… I believe it. We want her back, we’re not going to accept that Maddie’s gone from our life altogether. She’s far too important for that.’
Clip No.2:
Susan Healy: ‘Kate phoned me, errm… about an hour after Gerry and asked me to get in touch with, errm… Paul Seddon, who is the priest, Father Seddon, who married her, who baptised Madeleine, errm… and I didn’t have his mobile phone so I rang a friend of Kate’s and got… got him and he rang Kate right away and I think as soon as this happened, as soon as Kate realised what had happened, it was as if, errm.. she started to ask God right away to give her Madeleine. Errm… because Kate and Gerry were not the most devout family. We do have Catholic faith, errm… it’s… it’s the religion that we were brought up in, but I would never describe myself as a devout person. We’re just ordinary people, errm… but Kate certainly has… has clung to her religion, errm.. since this happened. Possibly she feels that, you know, it has to be a greater thing that helps us to get Madeleine back. Errm… something with more power than… than we have.’
Clip No.3:
“I want somebody here now,” errm… is what she was saying. But, yes, emotionally she was very up and down, errm… and that isn’t, as I say, she’s a very placid… ‘
Brian Healy: ‘Meeting Kate for the first time after Madeleine was abducted… just awful. Worst feeling of my life.’
Note: Susan Healy confirms that Gerry said how important it was that everyone accept it as an abduction straight away. Secondly, she confirms that the McCanns were NOT devout Catholics and that Kate only turned to God after Madeleine had ‘disappeared’. Also, she refers to Madeleine as ‘Maddie’ and tells how Kate was screaming at the British Consul saying ‘I want somebody here now’!
It just encapsulates everything they were attempting to do: Hammer home that it was an abduction, pressurise the PJ with Consular help, play the ‘devoted Catholics’ card when, in reality, they weren’t and draw their relatives in to provide a cloak to hide behind.
Thank you to Nige from the McCann Files for the transcript, and for pointing out the relevant aspects of the Interview.
