International Madeleine McCann: And Eye For Denise Pipitone And Finding Rose Pizem
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found safe and well after four years’”
Italy has it’s own Maddie. Like Isreal? Are we working throught alphabet? If so, look out Jamaica…
Urgent DNA tests are being carried out on the eight year old girl found in Greece to see if she is Denise Pipitone, who vanished in 2004. She missing from outside her grandmother’s house while playing.
And?
News of the discovery will bring fresh hope to Gerry and Kate McCann after their daughter disappeared in Portugal last year, and for the parents of Ben Needham who vanished in 1991 from the same Greek island, Kos, where the Italian girl was found.
Like Our Maddie?
The DNA tests were ordered after Denise’s mother Piera, shown photographs of the girl found in Greece, said the “shape of the eyes was exactly that” of her daughter.
DAILY MIRROR: “DNA tests on ‘Italian Madeleine’”
Madeleine McCann has been missing since last May. A spokesman for her parents said: “If this is Denise then it will give Kate and Gerry immense strength and hope that Madeleine will be found.”
TIMES: “Missing girl Denise Pipitone ‘found begging’ after four-year search”
Greek police traced the Roma woman, 34, who was charged with abducting a minor. One police official said that the girl had the same birthmark under her left eye as Denise, and only spoke Italian. She is being kept under observation in the island’s hospital. The case is as well known in Italy as that of Madeleine McCann. Denise’s mother, Piera Maggio, has made repeated appeals on television for help in finding her.
Italians know of their own missing child as well as they do of Our Maddie?
DAILY MAIL: “Girl dubbed Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found alive and well’ four years after she vanished”
Denise’s mother Piera, who said the birthmark and the shape of the eyes were ‘exactly the same’ as her daughter’s. She added that there had been numerous false alarms in the past, so she would not allow herself to get her hopes up.
But the media can get your hopes up for you…
Last night the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘If these reports are true it is fantastic news for her family. But it would also give hope to Kate and Gerry because this is exactly the sort of situation that could prove that a child can go missing and be found safe and well.’
If…
THE SCOTSMAN: “Remains may be missing girl”
ISRAELI divers yesterday found a suitcase containing remains police believe belong to a missing girl whose grandfather is being held on suspicion of killing her.
The discovery in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon River marked a breakthrough in the case of four-year old Rose Pizem – missing since May. Her disappearance has transfixed Israel.
HA-ARETZ (Israel): “Until the next tragedy”
Faced with a suspect with a devilish face, an exciting and unusual family story, searches in the river - the Yarkon has never before raised such interest - and a murder without a body, we absolutely wallowed in this story. Oh, how we loved hearing the sexologist talk about the couple’s therapy the two lovers received, grandfather and mother forever. How we wanted to peek further and further into the “Israeli Madeleine McCann” family, which suddenly appeared in our lives; we invaded it with a mixture of voyeurism, gossip and a pinch, just a pinch, of real concern for the missing girl’s fate. Someone will make a film about it.
GREAT YARMOUTH MERCURY: “Visit church in cyberspace”
At 900 years old, a global opening ceremony for Great Yarmouth’s magnificent parish church might seem somewhat belated…
But in cyber world virtual people called avatars are teleporting into St Nicholas’ for a zoom around the vestry or even a stroll on the roof.
For the landmark building has been transported lock stock and wonky weather cock into the 3D virtual reality world of Second Life and now ranks among hundreds of real buildings turned into cartoon locations on the booming internet enterprise where 10m people from all over the world mingle.
Second Life…
Playboy has its own bunny-shaped island and British police have posted missing Madeleine McCann posters on virtual buildings.
Have you seen Madeleine McCann?

We know there were two cars rented between the Tapas 9 for a week, so it would be very easy to put a young body in the blue holdall that went missing, drive down to the
beach and hide the bag in the sand until the coast was clear. Didn”t DP & MO take a boat out in the afternoon of the 3rd?
*******************
Val it wouldn’t have to be done in one go would it ?
I heard of a Brian Rix farce where the body was moved just ahead of the investigators all the time !
Person One moves bundle to flowerbeds and then converse with someone to establish alibi, then person one moves bundle to car park bin, return to venue! .
Person 2 car park to the Supermarket skip then return to venue. Person One S/market skip to beach ( under cover of big distraction ten) into shallow water behind rocks run back to Apartment! 10 mins only
Persons one and two (under cover excuse of searching) early hours recover bundle from shallow water and bury on beach near water line .
Some days later Bundle dug up, after dark transfer to dinghy, dinghy to boat. Out to deep ocean and never seen again ?

Maravilha
Amaral”s Book was published in Spain and Italy, but no sign so far of a U.K. Publisher
wanting to publish. My guess would be it will be a U.SA. Publisher, with Amazon being
the book-seller. Many more copies would be sold that way.

sam-as you say don’t know whether this is good news or bad. If trus the Roma mother must be traumatised….can you imagine.

Stig:
I don’t understand what you are on about.
Tanner had NO description.
Just a vague idea it was a man, without a discernible face.
Oddly, SHE claimed from the start that she didn’t tell the McCanns about seeing this Eggman until the next day, so as not to alarm them.
YET, according to the timeline written on Madeleine’s sticker-book, before the police were even CALLED to apartment 5A - she “saw a stranger carrying a child.”
September 12th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
whoops, perhaps not, theres beeen an unconfirmed newspaper report that says the child is the child of the romany person.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
Sam
When, that evening, did anyone have time to discover the body, think what to do - don’t tell me that would only require 5min or less - get the body to one of those exotic locations, deal with it, return and act normal, not perspiring from any effort or out of breath of course?
No other involvement ???? Tanners sighting?
September 12th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
gf, yes, precisely. and, dare i say it, naive policemen.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Stig…
Sorry, but I can’t believe you still trust a Tanner sighting.
Which one do you go for?
The man with no face, or the man who wore cream slacks and a blue blazer, like an MCC official (or Gerry McCann0?
The man with long hair, or the one whose hair she couldn’t recall?
The egg-faced (no-face) man, or the one with the George Harrison moustache?
Do explain.
To me, Jane Tanner’s descriptions changed with the wind, and whoever else was paid to provide a photofit.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
You have evidence for this, you do not, the sample never went missing it was destroyed under Low Copy DNA testing, a practise so unreliable it is regcognised by only three countries in the world. Your reading of the 15 marker situation is also nonsense, Mr Lowe negated that arguement, perhaps you believe the FSS are either incompotent or worse.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
val -might have brought a charge-but not necessarily a guilty verdict.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
mary-agree i think-like in all ‘good’ mysteries-it’s often a person too obvious to think of-my first reaction was-a member of staff-as they would know who was where at any time-and the habits of these people.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Rasputin,
Do you remember that a British diplomat signalled, very early on, that the McCanns were not to be trusted?
Since the McCanns were given British government protection, an extraordinary number of high-ranking (and very well thought-of) diplomats have resigned over this case.
That alone gives huge cause for concern.
Diplomats have much higher standards of integrity than our crap career politicians.
Most of the diplomats connected with this case have cleared off…with immense loss (financial and career-wise)

Rasputin
The FSS also stated there were 15 out of 19 markers positive for bodily fluids. These
apparently went missing and Stuart Prior (it”s in the files) was furious. He said in the U.K. that evidence would be sufficient to make a charge in the U.K.

Jass
Umpteen months later and with a bit of prompting no doubt. Given a description close to the time and one more than six months later, I would rather rely on the earliest recollection. That first description matched Tanners. Did the McCaans being made arguidos and having suspicion cast on them help his memory to later become more Gerry like?
September 12th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
It wasn’t.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
But…
how was it done?
25 days after..
September 12th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Is Amaral’s book already in the UK? I mean in English.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Just flicked through -has the missing Italian girl been found or is it a false alarm?

the real stig, your photowall of the search dogs ?, great. only problem is the dogs were given a towel to scent, not a piece of maddies clothing.

Good point Sam
Very stinky ! lots of covering odours to confuse dogs such as rotting seaweed salt eroding shells crabs cooling saltwater etc……………..

Stig:
I am very nervous replying to you, as have been previously banned for repeating what has been said about the source of the male DNA found in apartment 5A.
As for the Irishman Martin Smith’s evidence about who he saw carrying a child that night???
I was certain that his opinion was that the person was Gerry McCann, after he watched Dr G walking down the aeroplane steps with a sleeping Sean.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I must say the child like belief in the uncorroborated unproven and forensically discounted “evidence” from flat 5a, certainly gives Jass full membership of the crazy gang. I wonde if the email from the FSS chappie John Lowe was read.
“In an e-mail dated 3 September, 2007, John Lowe, of the major incidents team at the Birmingham-based Forensic Science Service (FSS), said it was impossible to conclude whether or not the material came from the couple’s daughter, Madeleine.
Four days later, Portuguese detectives named the McCanns arguidos – formal suspects – in the child’s disappearance, citing DNA evidence as grounds for their suspicions.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
the real stig, i dont’ think the involvemnt of others was necessary.
you say a knowledge of the area would be neccessary, well they’d had practically four days without kids to explore the place, jogging, tennis, golf, have you seen how far away the golf site is from the complex ? jogging up little mountains they were (handy for private speech i’m sure) and the dogs were not given items of clothing but a towel, even if it was a towel used last by madeline, just how much scent would have been on it ? and, perfumes, so presumably also scents from bubble bath and shampoos, interefere or destroy the dogs scenting abilities. there is no reason why anyone else should have been involved and no reason why anyone one else there could not have been equally duped, if that was the case that is.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
The Real Stig
I agree that the simplest explanation is often the right one. The trouble with this case is that there is little hard evidence and all the popular theories, whether pro or anti, are sensationalised and larger than life. A small child has apparently vanished without trace and everything else is speculation.

Doris,
Thanks.
I am seriously worried ablout Pam’s preoccupation with Madeleine being embalmed, while at the same time insisting the child is alive, with some paedophile gang (at least, that’s how I read her and Garth’s theories).

Tanners sighting of a man carrying a child.
Sighting by an Irish man of a man carrying a blonde child. This was possibly half an hour after she was reported missing.
Unaccounted for DNA traces and fingerprints found in the apartment and which have not been able to be matched to any of the people known to have been in the apartment, prompting a request by the PJ for the UK Police to ask all UK residents staying at the resort at the time to provide DNA samples and fingerprints.
