International Madeleine McCann: And Eye For Denise Pipitone And Finding Rose Pizem
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found safe and well after four years’”
Italy has it’s own Maddie. Like Isreal? Are we working throught alphabet? If so, look out Jamaica…
Urgent DNA tests are being carried out on the eight year old girl found in Greece to see if she is Denise Pipitone, who vanished in 2004. She missing from outside her grandmother’s house while playing.
And?
News of the discovery will bring fresh hope to Gerry and Kate McCann after their daughter disappeared in Portugal last year, and for the parents of Ben Needham who vanished in 1991 from the same Greek island, Kos, where the Italian girl was found.
Like Our Maddie?
The DNA tests were ordered after Denise’s mother Piera, shown photographs of the girl found in Greece, said the “shape of the eyes was exactly that” of her daughter.
DAILY MIRROR: “DNA tests on ‘Italian Madeleine’”
Madeleine McCann has been missing since last May. A spokesman for her parents said: “If this is Denise then it will give Kate and Gerry immense strength and hope that Madeleine will be found.”
TIMES: “Missing girl Denise Pipitone ‘found begging’ after four-year search”
Greek police traced the Roma woman, 34, who was charged with abducting a minor. One police official said that the girl had the same birthmark under her left eye as Denise, and only spoke Italian. She is being kept under observation in the island’s hospital. The case is as well known in Italy as that of Madeleine McCann. Denise’s mother, Piera Maggio, has made repeated appeals on television for help in finding her.
Italians know of their own missing child as well as they do of Our Maddie?
DAILY MAIL: “Girl dubbed Italy’s Madeleine McCann ‘found alive and well’ four years after she vanished”
Denise’s mother Piera, who said the birthmark and the shape of the eyes were ‘exactly the same’ as her daughter’s. She added that there had been numerous false alarms in the past, so she would not allow herself to get her hopes up.
But the media can get your hopes up for you…
Last night the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘If these reports are true it is fantastic news for her family. But it would also give hope to Kate and Gerry because this is exactly the sort of situation that could prove that a child can go missing and be found safe and well.’
If…
THE SCOTSMAN: “Remains may be missing girl”
ISRAELI divers yesterday found a suitcase containing remains police believe belong to a missing girl whose grandfather is being held on suspicion of killing her.
The discovery in Tel Aviv’s Yarkon River marked a breakthrough in the case of four-year old Rose Pizem – missing since May. Her disappearance has transfixed Israel.
HA-ARETZ (Israel): “Until the next tragedy”
Faced with a suspect with a devilish face, an exciting and unusual family story, searches in the river - the Yarkon has never before raised such interest - and a murder without a body, we absolutely wallowed in this story. Oh, how we loved hearing the sexologist talk about the couple’s therapy the two lovers received, grandfather and mother forever. How we wanted to peek further and further into the “Israeli Madeleine McCann” family, which suddenly appeared in our lives; we invaded it with a mixture of voyeurism, gossip and a pinch, just a pinch, of real concern for the missing girl’s fate. Someone will make a film about it.
GREAT YARMOUTH MERCURY: “Visit church in cyberspace”
At 900 years old, a global opening ceremony for Great Yarmouth’s magnificent parish church might seem somewhat belated…
But in cyber world virtual people called avatars are teleporting into St Nicholas’ for a zoom around the vestry or even a stroll on the roof.
For the landmark building has been transported lock stock and wonky weather cock into the 3D virtual reality world of Second Life and now ranks among hundreds of real buildings turned into cartoon locations on the booming internet enterprise where 10m people from all over the world mingle.
Second Life…
Playboy has its own bunny-shaped island and British police have posted missing Madeleine McCann posters on virtual buildings.
Have you seen Madeleine McCann?

I’m finding myself drifting towards the feeling that any sort of cover-up would have been exposed by now. Perhaps a cover-up by one person would be simple to get away with - but a cover-up by more than one person never works … someone always slips up, or has a guilt conscience slap!
My feelings about Madeleine’s story are becoming extremely mixed, as I truly hoped that by this stage there would have been an answer. But there is none … we still don’t know where Madeleine is, or what happened to her. At this stage, I think that is the most important thing for me … I want to know WHO is responsible for her no longer being here.
I’ve also thought of many scenarios …. but there’s always something that just doesn’t quite add up, no matter which way I think! I just hope that one day the world will find out the TRUTH …. for Madeleine’s sake.

garth i don’t think they were uncaring, i read much of their behaviour as grief.

HI (sam yes, ciao is also bye - I had to do something else and didn’t know when I could pop back, but anorak is rather addictive!)
Garth - I don’t know, some people manage to lie so effectively and under such dire circumstances… Plus she might have taken some antidepressants to dull the pain… Remember that parents in such an event would probably have done anything to prevent the twins from being taken (does this seem implausibel to you: K, bear up, we have to do this for the twins’ sake, or else they’ll take then from us)

Lisa
If they were so uncaring over the death of Madeleine im pretty sure that keeping the twins would be have been the least of their worries.

But yes you’re right, as to the sentence reported by K’s mother (if it was said as stated) But let me really play devil’s advocate:
suppose she had said ‘i want someone here now!’ with respect to a request for a PR specialist, spokesperson, or someone else to assist in some cover-up?
Really this is a very interesting Plato kind of debate!
kisses, be back soon!

I don’t know much about the case to be honest so at this stage nothing would surprise me.

karen, yes, i wondered that too.

Hiya Garth - I must say that I’m very interested to see the outcome as well. If it does turn out to be Denise, then questions surely should be asked as to why those close to the woman found with her didn’t ask questions when she suddenly appeared with a child that was not hers! Although she probably could have given any sort of explanation!
I’m really holding thumbs that it is Denise …..

the reality is garth that madeleine mccann went missing last year on may the 3rd, some people beleive the parents promoted view that she was abducted, some don’t.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:46 am
It doesn’t sound entirely likely - why would Romas nick kids when they have plenty of their own???? How come she was still speaking fluent Italian? How come the gypsy stole her from Italy but doesn’t know any Italian???
In the olden days weren’t crimes simpler than this???
September 12th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Hello Julie
It will be interesting to see the outcome.

So Maddie was kidnapped by gypsies or she was killed by someone in her circle? Are we aloud to choose?
By the way: Kate Mccann is an extraordinary person: she doesn’t wash her cloths after being close to six dead people, but she orders to wash Madeleine cloths the day (5/5) after the disappearance. Uau!

A sad and tunnelled perception.

Its called panic!
September 12th, 2008 at 9:17 am
I would also say that had the press had any info at all from friends or associates claiming there was another side to Kate McCann then you can guarantee we would have known about it.
There has been nothing!
September 12th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Liza, im going to pick up on just this one point.
“I for one don’t doubt K’s distress and suffering etc although you know, these feelings could be induced even in case of accidental death”.
———————-
These feelings could be induced. You are quite right. But not in the way they are expressed in this observation. imo.
To me it shows all the signs of frustration/panic from a mother who is unable to get anyone to listen to her that her daughter has been taken.
If you are saying that someone who is so cold and calculating who could cover up the accidental death of her own daughter and be so brazen that she could continue the lie immediately after and partake in an evening meal (and be first at the table) and is also able to put on an act of extreme distress infront of all and sundry on the discovery of her missing daughter then i have to disagree completely with you.
Her mother and indeed any of her friends would have noted something about Kate McCann in the 40 or so years she’s been around.

lisa, i thought you had gone, sorry, i read ciao as bye
September 12th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Garth - leaving aside this particular case, but do you really believe that all mothers know their 40 year old daughter so well?
Sure, I know my mother has a good idea of what my reactions to certain things would be, but I am totally sure that nobody knows me (not even my husband or my kids who have been living alongside me so long) well enough to predict my behaviour always.
And how many mothers have I heard saying ‘my son is like this or that’ ‘oh my daughter would absolutely never do this’ only to be totally proved wrong?
I for one don’t doubt K’s distress and suffering etc although you know, these feelings could be induced even in case of accidental death.
You know (just for the sake of debate) many things depend on personality traits, and one’s own ethics.
Let’s just suppose there was an accidental death - even if they don’t feel any guilt at all at having indirectly allowed the accident to happen (eg: suppose I’m with my kids in a holiday apartment, I don’t take the sharp knives out of the drawer, and the child when left alone takes the knife out of the drawer and wants to imitate some cartoon character and manages to fatally injure herself ) so I was saying, a parent might feel great pain over the death of the child, not feel guilty (since he/she/they might feel that leaving the child unsupervised or not making the apartment childproof was within the limits of good parenting) and go to the point of wanting to protect themselves against any neglect charge or worse.
Also - and knowing the Italian medical field - good standing is of essence for a physician who wants to go ahead in his/her profession.
All this Garth, believe me, does not mean I am confident that this is what happens. It’s just an exercise in debate.
ciao
