Madeleine McCann’s Halo 3: Selling Video Games And Making Jokes
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “The News Quiz”
As The News Quiz returns, host Sandi Toksvig tells James Walton why it’s lasted so long – despite the ‘galling’ low pay she and her guests receive
Is Our Maddie fair game for comedy?
Needless to say, some news stories are funnier than others. (The show, for example, steered well clear of Madeleine McCann.) Fortunately, even in the darkest times, “politicians have the most staggering skill at producing material for us”. With that 66th series about to begin, Toksvig now finds herself “terribly grateful to Sarah Palin. For comedy writers, she’s just heaven.”
EUROGAMER: “Maddie reference spotted in Bungie trailer”
Speculation is mounting that the new trailer for Bungie’s next Halo project features a reference to missing five year-old Madeleine McCann.
Selling video games with Madeleine McCann:
Apparently the message “MADDIE, WHERE ARE YOU?” appears in three frames of the video. A debate has now kicked off over whether this is a reference to the missing girl, who disappeared in May 2007.
Bungie has yet to comment on the matter.
CVG ONLINE: “Halo ‘Maddie’ reference sparks controversy”
A frame in Bungie’s new Halo 3 ‘Keep It Clean’ trailer is being taken as a reference to missing British child Madeline McCann.
Amongst various messages flashed across the screen during the trailer, one reads ‘MADDIE, WHERE ARE YOU?’, sparking controversy on internet forums - including this thread on the official Bungie site.
Well, if the PR increases sales, then why not..?

GF, the original reward was for her safe return, as I understand it that means alive and well.
My understanding also is that anyone coming forward with info leading to the conviction of the perpetrators has not at any stage stood receive a penny in reward money. There we have the difference.
THIS TO ME IS STRANGE.
Within days of the Antigua shootings a reward was offered for information on who did it. This happens all the time. Why has no one thought of doing it in the Maddy case?

They are biting big time today, must report back to HQ, the next shift can continue to cast their lines and hooks.

Chenier, it was just an example, there are many ways in which a reward can bring positive results.
With hindsight a lot of money that has been used following dead ends might have been better utilised in this way.
The whole point, Rasputin, being that such a move might YIELD some evidence.

When 2.5 million Euros reward didn’t find her dead or alive, (is it still on offer ?) nothing will, and I think most of the brighter posters on here know why, don’t they ?
Talking of fund money wasted, when the Spanish Tecs said they would have her home by Christmas and the Mccons had employed them. Why would they then dissapear to Yorkshire ? shouldn’t they have been expecting to greet her at home ?
September 26th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
They’ve still not found her then…

rasputin - I’m gonna be looking/writing on here for a very very long time. I actually contribute to other posts too so it’s not just the madeleine thread I write on. I have varied interests and actually contribute. You however do nothing but yank and actually you’re not a very good yanker because not once have you got my goat. If you really haven’t got anything better to do than try and wind people up, very unsuccesfully at that, then fine. However may I provide you with a little advice? Why don’t you actually move on from all this? You don’t have anything to say or add so why bother? Are you a relative or friend of the mccanns or something? Are you working for them? Are you after a pat on the back from them or something? If not then why bother wasting so much time? It’s a nice day outside and if you’re not on your laptop already outside why don’t you make yourself a nice drink and go outside and get some air? It will do you the world of good Rasputin. Noone gives a flying fuck what you say so you are really wasting your time with me and the others….

Chenier, it was just an example, there are many ways in which a reward can bring positive results.
Another example being someone who is not a hardened criminal but they know something, wrestling with their conscience as to whether or not to spill the beans, a seven figure sum might help them make that decision.
With hindsight a lot of money that has been used following dead ends might have been better utilised in this way.

Yes bird brain, none are as blind as those including mouldy old dough eaters, who have not been able to understand the AG’s statement, perhaps he could state it in “pidgin english” for your benefit.

What’s it to you Raspy if people choose to discuss the anomalies in this case—–why do YOU persist in reading the comments and then repeating the same AG blah blah nonsense day after day….I mean you don’t exactly add anything to the debate….so why don’t YOU butt out?

Wonder if it’s an attempt to hide the previous Majorca allegations ? maybe they are about to hit the british press ? No-one seems to have refuted them so far have they ?

September 26th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
To remind silly billies and bird brained types of the facts, no evidence, you do enjoy getting your chain yanked don’t you, “no evidence” you must be in a turmoil with all your spinning.
September 26th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
noone in authority has said there is either. What is the point of you being here?

And let’s imagine someone gets caught with pedo porn, a bit like that vicar on the news yesterday, but this someone has info about a network connected to Maddy’s disappearance.

2. Immunity, protection and three million quid.

I’m all for the exercise of imagination, but the entire plan does hinge on there being a network connected with the disappearance of Madeleine.
And I know of no such network, and neither do the people charged with investigating paedophile crimes around the world….
So even if you offered a cartload of dosh to anyone caught with images of child abuse on his computer, it’s unlikely that you would get a truthful response; there is a massive incentive for the person to make up as many lies as possible in the hope of cutting a deal.
Incidentally, CEOPs asks that people do not use the term porn in connection with images of child abuse…

There is no evidence of anything, so said the nice AG, despite the birds twitterings no one in authority has said there is no evidence of abduction, but a bird brained entity cannot be expected to have the same reasoning powers as humans.

What an unfortunate turn of phrase Ras pukin.
A missing infants case is never closed, investigations continue !

Jo, the problem is that there has been 16 months of speculation from all sides, the nearest we have come to the courtroom have been two settled libel cases and that rather odd wardship hearing. The false sightings and Amaral’s book are two sides of the same coin, speculation without charge/trial.
Call that justice, cos I don’t.
September 26th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Rasputin, do you think a big reward for information leading to the conviction of the perpetrators would be a good thing?
Pretty standard stuff I would say.
And let’s imagine someone gets caught with pedo porn, a bit like that vicar on the news yesterday, but this someone has info about a network connected to Maddy’s disappearance.
That person could be given a choice, either:
1. Three years in jail and a criminal record, or
2. Immunity, protection and three million quid.
Whichever side of the fence one is on, all initiatives to solve this crime to date have failed, so what’s wrong with trying a different tack?
September 26th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Ahh rasputin - you still won’t answer the question. Hey, if you put us all out of our misery and tell us what happened then maybe we can move on. Don’t forget though that there is no evidence of abduction so bear that in mind when giving your answer, there’s a good boy….

Bungie writer Luke Smith (Lukems) assured everyone that the “Maddie, where are you?” slogan in yesterday’s teaser was pure coincidence as far as any relation to the 2007 Maddie McCann disappearance goes.
“As always, all of the characters in our games are fictional,” he wrote. “Any similarities between real life and the characters in our games are purely coincidental.”
“That said, this is both an unfortunate and untended [sic] coincidence,” he added.
In yet another rebuttle, Bungie’s Brian Jarrard, aka Sketchfactor, has posted a note over at fansite Halo.Bungie.org: “This is an unfortunate coincidence but there is no connection between Bungie’s game and the tragic disappearance of that little girl.”

Do you really think the man is happy with this? No,I dont think so.This sorry saga sticks to his skin.He will not give up.We must keep in mind the case is not totally closed and do we know for sure the PJ has given up? I am sure they are still working on the case, far from the media and especially far from the mccann people noxious interference…
I expect extremely nasty comments and pressure on him and the PJ in relation to Joana”s court case coming up.Is M3 going to be called to court????

az, i’m suprised to read that the rewards offered were only for her safe return, it would never have occured to me had you not written it earlier that the reward offered was so conditional, usually they are as you suggest, for the solving of the crime, or ?
