To repeat myself a bit, I think it would be funny if McCain forgot who he was and tried to marry a moose on November 4th. In 20 years he’ll say in an interview: “Sarah Palin shot my bride on our wedding day and all I got was this lousy private retirement home package.”

Certainly McCain last week seemed to be doing his best to push the Democrats into being the party to support it; he left Washington once it became clear that our Nancy wasn’t falling for it. But if he had ever given any thought to what was right he certainly showed no sign of it at the time.
