CnC:

..and I for one am truly delighted that you do comment and comment well. I still find it a little strange when I learn bonus cheques are still hankered for by even middle-order hitters in spots like the Royal Bank of Scotland.
There are certain commentators..and would I name Chenier for one and me and a score others too??? ...who have banged on about the dangers in the system for, in my case, around 15 years. The point being in that time even low-order players were acutely aware of the dangerous nature of playing on an unlovely and not level field.
At the most basic level for instance, Bank of Scotland front office staff were sick to death of being berated by Halifax-based 'managers' to take a leaf from Howard's book and sing a happy tune while selling lower interest savings accounts to long-established customers.

PS..... I don't blame the croc either!
I was more shocked to see a 62 year old decribed as 'elderly oap' in the UK papers today.

I shared dairy's puzzlement about that. I thought the comments had been closed on the Frank McGarahan post as a mark of respect though, and to prevent anyone making derogatory comments about what was basically a completely unselfish act. I hadn't noticed blocks elsewhere.

coolandcalm:

Since we are all about to be necked it would appear to be a pretty fair stab at vertebrae snapping and excellent gallows humour.

Why shouldn't we have giggle, even a belly laugh, while standing on the trapdoor.
That's satire. It sometimes makes you laugh so hard it hurts.

Anyway it came from Oz and they are cruel and vicious bunch...watch any episodes of Neighbours and you'll see.

Better still, if you want a sample of stranger than fiction, look at this one:

I don't think the more senior people at any bank will get re-employed any time soon, certainly not in the finance sector

Sorry, but a bit unfair IMO.

The majority who have lost their jobs at Lehmans, other banks and affected companies are ordinary employees. Bank Tellers, Canteen Workers, Office staff, cleaners etc etc. Working workers on an average salary with children and mortgage debt.
The percentage of high earners is actually very small (even if they had most of the money!) and they will probably go abroad and continue to earn.
The ordinary staff are heading for the dole queue and repossession. I know several............

Sir:

How dare you publish such an obviously Photoshoped fake illustration.

I would never allow the bank's porters to park my indigo-cobalt black Porche 911 in such close proximity to such vulgar vehicles.

You should be horsewhipped and will be when I finish this morning's raid on the ridiculously low HBOS and Lloyds Bank TSB shares. Barclays next I think.
We should own the UK around 21.17 hrs (GMT) Wednesday Oct. 1

I thank you.
