Madeleine McCann: Investigators Wanted, Benchmarks Of Pain And McFly
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY MAIL: “£50,000 monthly expenses bill for McCann’s private eyes”
A scoop. It’s months old. But it’s still a scoop, right? Metodo 3 are on the job…
The private investigators hired to find Madeleine McCann were embroiled in fresh controversy last night as it was revealed they claimed nearly £50,000 in expenses for one month’s work.
… expensive
US-based firm Oakley International was taken on by the Find Madeleine Fund earlier this year on a £500,000 six-month contract to monitor a telephone hotline, carry out detective work and review CCTV footage from around the world of possible sightings of the missing girl.
It seems £50,000 a month is the going rate for not finding a missing child. Anorak PI Acme Inc. would do the same job for less, say half…
Says Clarence Mitchell (for hire):
“The search for Madeleine is continuing, however, using other resources and the performance of other contractors is constantly reviewed and monitored. Kate and Gerry and the backers will leave no stone unturned in the search for Madeleine.”
Our card is in the post…
SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY: “The Fighter: Kirsteen Lupton had her first operation the day she was born,” says Peter Ross.
I HAVE interviewed many remarkable people but don’t usually have to wait for them to get home from school. Kirsteen Lupton is the exception, and she is exceptional. She was born with bladder exstrophy, a rare condition in which that organ is on the outside of the body.
Well…
Like many teenagers, though, her loyalties are fickle and she now prefers the Red Hot Chili Peppers. To admit to liking McFly is to risk a slagging.
The bigger picture..
Martin [Kisteen’s dad] later talks about the pressure. “Kirsteen’s care needs were so great that the main theme running through our lives was getting her through her next surgical procedure and trying to retain a semblance of normal family life for our boys. I know it’s not the same, but Madeleine McCann’s parents said that they had to keep going for the sake of their twins, and I know what they mean. You have to maintain what is, perhaps, an artificial façade.”
Madeleine McCann: the benchmark for pain.

that ding dong about the Mail and the Mirror really made me laugh. perhaps it’s better not to post anything.
any idea where a link to the church photo is for the Real Stig? again, I copied it for my reference but don’t know where it came from.
It’s weird, being a compassionate person, I don’t want it to be discovered that the couple and friends are lying about the situation on 3rd May, because of the position the twins will find themselves in, as much as anything. However, I really don’t want to find out that M has been abducted, because that would be the absolute worst possible scenario for her. It’s certainly a lose, lose situation.
Real Stig
now you have found the playground photo, and I have clarified my points (sorry, I just assumed that everyone knew about the oddities in the photo, because they have been discussed her ad nausium) can you now see what I mean?

While we’re at it, Whoops, the way that Gerry carried that child down the aeroplane steps was s..o ..o .. o . .o suspicious. I mean, the child was over his left shoulder with Gerry’s right hand on his back. No wonder that Irish bloke recognised him from Praia Da Luz “something about the way he was carrying the child” made him realise. Of course the fact the Gerry was at the Tapas Bar at that time was a bit inconvenient, but when you go around carrying children like that, what can you expect?
I, myself, always carry children off aeroplanes in string bags, like everybody else.

The Real Stig Come on you’ve got to hand it to them-even that horse could feel Maddie’s pain……….and the candles on Maddie’s Birthday cake-they weren’t shining as brightly as you’d expect considering it was a celebration.
Do you know I think they only took her on that holiday to collect the tennis balls….and when the holiday was nearing the end….well you can guess the rest.

“there is even a photo of her without the colomba mark, I stored it on my computer, but can’t remember which site I got it from so I can’t post a link, although I could e-mail it. It was one of the early ones and someone pointed out the lack of colomba, so I stored it, because many posts get whoosh cluncked from the internet pretty quickly. - another mystery.”
Not really. I have had a look at that photo and I think someone may have edited out the coloboma. I can certainly understand that being done for reasons of vanity.
Again, the photo has such low resolution that it is really hard to say much about it, since there are not a lot of pixels to look at, but if you enlarge the right eye enough, it appears that the pixels to the immediate right of the coloboma - in a vertical strip - have been copied and pasted over it:

I think even the Mail would be surprised to be sued by someone over an article published by the Mirror.

This article is from 11/09/2007 but the very same newspaper finally said it was they had printed was all bollocks anyway.
I now know it is libel to post this kind of article….Thanx to artemis
I wonder why it is still on onsite then? because if it was libel yes it would have been whooshed clunked….and it is not ,is it artemis?
Why is the Mail provoking me ?

I haven’t a clue, Jo; perhaps you could ask the Mail?
And if you had ever read the numerous comments agw has made about libel you would realise that you are responsible for what you do; claiming that someone else has already done it doesn’t make it right. By posting it here you involve Anorak as well.

Stig
It’s the shadow of maddie’s (not gerry’s) arm that is missing.
Also, It’s madeleine’s right knee that is missing. when you put the photo on your own computer and keep enlarging it, it is very very obvious that the knee is missing, it just sort of fades into the grass, as if there is no knee cap. Same as the left foot, it just is shaped the wrong way.
the staring man’s foot is much more than 70 degrees, although his head faces front (which misleads you and maybe caused the mistake in the photo) the man’s body is facing as if he is walking out of the photo to the right, then, once you realise this, look again at the angle of the foot - impossible unless he has a swivelling, artificial leg, and maybe he has.
also, while on the subject of this pic. how would you say Maddie arrived in it? jumped in from where exactly, and as she is the only one with any movement, How come NO PERSON is looking at her?
these aren’t my observations, I picked them up from anorak posters a few months ago - but I agree with each one. There are also loads more mistakes in the photo by the way, but the ones i mention are the more obvious ones. And this is how I became fascinated.

thatpoorpriest Says:
“but even IF the other things could be explained, you can’t explain the long hair/reason for/timing of the extensions”
You don’t seriously believe that photo was taken in PDL and is contemporaneous with the pool side and park photos do you? I think that photo was taken back in the UK, sometime before they went on holiday and when she had longer hair, before having it cut.
“As you seem so knowledgable about photos, are you able to explain the many anomolies in the playground photo? you know, madeleine’s 2 left feet”
I have never seen a version of that photo with sufficient resolution to determine the shape of the shoes to the extent you could say they were both lefts. I have found an enlarged version of the photo. The resolution is too poor to make a perfect determination, but to me, I don’t see anything to suggest that she doesn’t have a left and right foot:
http://tinyurl.com/3eyhoz
“lack of right knee”
Er? It’s behind Madeline. How long have you held the belief it is normal to be able to see through people?
“no arm shadow”
The shadow of his right arm is on his right thigh, that of his left arm is on the ground to the right of Shauns head. The length of his arm is such that it is almost pointed into the sun - as you can see from the long shadow of Gerrys head down most of his arm. If you orient a long stick so it is pointed at the sun, it only casts a small shadow.
“7 foot man and the man staring at the camera has his foot in an impossible backward facing position.”
Again, the resolution is too poor to be definitive but it appears his foot ‘might’ be turned 70 degrees to the right, but nothing like 180 degrees to be facing backwards.
“etc etc.”
More completely erroneous observations I am sure.
“Also the fact there is no Gerry elbow in the picture of maddie put up in the church, which is the same picture of her as in the claimed last photo where gerry’s elbow can be clearly seen very close to her hat (about an eye’s width away to the left.”
Give me a link please, as I haven’t seen this church photo. But it sounds like it might be a photo blown up for a poster? I would expect anyone doing a poster would remove extraneous and distracting bits.
October 12th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Trouble is that we know you can’t believe what the papers say. e.g. this article says that their phones were tapped, but the police files and Amaral’s book, say they wanted that to happen but permission was refused.
It is interesting that, at that point, the papers weren’t afraid to put the blame on Kate.
I wonder if that article will soon be whoosh cluncked!

Maddie: even private investigators excluded
Clarence Mitchell, spokesman for the McCann, confirmed yesterday that American society Oakley International was not employed by the couple since late August and the end of their contract of six months.
The information is not new, but the spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann has refused at first to admit that the lack of results and the amount of bills have lead the millionaire Brian Kennedy to terminate the contract.
According to the same information, after the first month of work, and yet no visible result, the agency Oakley of the former British officer Henri Exton would have required the payment of a bill of more than 50,000 €.
The information about the alleged private research and investigations launched by the McCann left the front pages of British newspapers since the Portuguese Department decided to put a stop to the inquiry in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and wait for better evidence, which could technically free Kate and Gerry McCann of their status as arguidos (suspects).
Madeleine McCann, then aged three years, disappeared from the holiday apartment occupied by his parents in a complex belonging to the British Mark Warner in the Portuguese village of Praia da Luz. Despite intensive investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Judicial Police (PJ) in Portimão, coordinated by Gonçalo Amaral, the body of the small British has never been found and investigators were unable to continue their work.
As several British and Portuguese journalists who have decided to work in the search for truth about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, I was threatened, insulted, denigrated … More recently, like my colleague Paulo Reis, I have received threats of prosecution from a law firm being paid by Kate and Gerry McCann.
This kind of threat that often tells me I’m on the right track, so I decided to continue my work and I continue to write about this strange case or the justice of two nations seems to have forgotten that real victim is named Madeleine. Duarte Levy 12.10.2008

well. speaking in general and not particularly about this case… it is quite possible for parents to ignore their children, except when they want to use them for a specific purpose. At which point the child, normally quiet and morose, will look happy because they are at last receiving parental interest/attention. sad but true I’m afraid.

Jose Manuel Anes, the top Portuguese criminologist, is said to be threatening to sue the Sun newspaper over the article it published on Friday saying that he slammed the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance. He says he hasn’t spoken to the press for nearly a year. I wonder what the Sun’s intention was, by giving the impression this was new? I have emailed the ‘reporter’ who wrote the article to ask whether this was a fake article and, if so, why was it printed. Doubt if I’ll get a reply….or, at least, not the one I would like!

Hmm-considering a lot of people here think that the paents had no time for Maddie-it seems a bit strange to then accuse them of crimping her hair and putting make up on her-surely they’d be too busy making her sweep the chimney or putting the hoover round Rothley.

ABCes ( a Spanish report) said Metodo 3 were threatening to sue The British Press
for misquoting the famous “we will have Madeleine home by Christmas” and says
they did not receive the £50,000.00 a month, just E60,000 for six months work
and E40,000 for expenses
————————————————————————————————————
I thought they had loads of employees rushing around the world chasing up all those “sightings” very thoroughly. plus manning the telephones 24/7 etc.
If all they charged for all those trips and all those employees was £50K for wages & £34K for expenses over a 6 month period, they can’t have been doing much can they? or were their employees working voluntarily?

October 12th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Well, I’m sure the sones are happy to hear that; it’s hard enough to get along at the moment without people turning you.
But in reality the vast majority of people in this country do think the McCanns are paying people to look for their child, if, that is, they think about it at all.
It’s difficult to see why the Mail should haul this very old story out; I really don’t understand why, unless it’s a Daily Wail special on those evil thieving foreigners who have taken all this money and not found Madeleine.
Though probably George Bush has other things to worry about…

WE know, but unless there is an intrepid Journalist out there who is willing to “follow
the money”, the Fund will soon be wound up without any Justice for Madeleine or the
generous people who made donations.
The wristbands were selling for £2 and T shirts for £6, can you imagine the amount of profit on these items which will be taxable? Will there be a proper account of
total sales?

The Double Glazed MccCons

October 12th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Joe Public is no longer interested in the McCann case and it”s only these forums that
have kept Madeleine”s memory alive.
I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that one of the Dailies was breaking ranks……
this might be the one.
It”s on record too that three organisations have asked for the Leicester Police files to
be released under the Freedom of Information Act. The Home Office is considering
this.
Under present economic conditions, think what £500,000 could do for a Childrens
Charity!!!!
ABCes ( a Spanish report) said Metodo 3 were threatening to sue The British Press
for misquoting the famous “we will have Madeleine home by Christmas” and says
they did not receive the £50,000.00 a month, just E60,000 for six months work

Kennedy)
October 12th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
Val,
I agree; the Mail article is interesting and I wonder whether the economic crash is making its presence felt.
The thought of £50k a month being spent when the McCanns did not ask for the investigation to be re-opened does seem a little incongruous…
