We also suggested that the McCanns’ friends had been identified as potential suspects.
And…
We now accept that these suggestions should never have been made and were completely untrue.

We apologise to Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien, Fiona Payne, David Payne, Matthew Oldfield, Rachael Oldfield and Diane Webster to whom we have agreed to pay substantial damages which they will be donating to the Find Madeleine Fund.

How much?
Friends of Madeleine McCann’s parents are expected to accept libel damages of £375,000 today.
Express Newspapers has previously paid damages of £550,000 to Mr and Mrs McCann, from Rothley, Leicestershire. The group and other newspapers also paid more than £600,000 to Robert Murat, a former official suspect, and two other people.
Anorak broke that story. And what of the “other newspapers”, like the Times’ sister organs, the Sun and the News of the World. Why not mention them by name?

The only thing I found slightly cheering this morning was that the media now seem to say ‘their daughter Madeleine went missing’ or ‘disappeared’ when referring to the McCanns. They’re no longer saying ‘abducted’. IMO, there isn’t as much support in the UK as the McCanns think. It’s just that everybody is too frightened to come out and say anything. And that, to me, is truly frightening.

Any reference to alleged amounts in the Fund by any of the mouthpieces, should be taken with a very large mountain of salt.
There have been too many contradictory statements made regarding these
amounts, in and/or out, for any realistic notice to be taken of them.

morning catalina, well according to clarrie, as quoted on jona’s site, the money will go tob the fund to support the investigation into madeleines disappearence, but he then is quoted as saying the contracts with metodo and oakly have ceased, so perhaps they’re going to try a bit of voodoo instead ?

well it’ll plump up the coffers again, just reading jonana morais site, clarence is quoted as saying (source 24 houras) it’ll bring the fund up to ca 7-800 pounds, what, so carter ruck is charging nothing ? and what about the very expensive reading of the files ? not paid that bill either or is kennedy paying for that ? anyway the express must be feeling it, 550 to the maccanns ,600 to murat and gf and 375 to the tapas 7, aiee.

In what way are they lending their physical bodies to this search?
Is it not practical and pragmatic to walk amongst your public and be seen to be physically enablig the search?
Like getting your scraggy arses back to Portugal and answering a few questions and doing a bit of a reconstruction?
