Al Gore, leader of teh Al Goreans says that, well, since not being elected to the job he wanted, he’s had a little rethink about the whole democratic process, and, well…:
“I believe it is the time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants.”
First we take the high ground, then we take the high seas…

The Commentariat Party has civil disobedience very high up on its agenda.
After sacking the majority of police and replacing them with the Army and Air-Force lads - the streets of Britain will see tea parties, not seen since Lady Diana’s tragic wedding to that Prince that was shagging the Hag.
We will have the utmost civility until night falls and then a good old looting session - starting with all the banks safety deposit boxes.
Also I will personally be in charge of all the Swiss bank money trafficking! Coz we can bet our bottom dollar there will be no trace of money in our UK banks by Monday night! lol

I know, but we are working on it, and I for one will be perfectly willing to chain myself to the bar in Corney and Barrow as a protest against the sort of people who used to have jeroboams of champagne sitting on the tables.
Of course I will need expenses, since Corney and Barrow doesn’t come cheap, but I’m sure my fellow posters will rally round for the cause…

Thoreau, Ghandi…Edmonds…Gore.
Civil disobedience just aint what it used to be.

And Sarah might bring along a live moose for us to shoot and eat. What fun we could have. Al wouldn’t like us using a charcoal barbecue to cook the meat though, so we could use Bristol’s hairdryer.

I see; a run on the clams bank would have pretty awful consequences…

I hope we can also invite Sarah Palin and her daughter for lunch. If they aren’t feeling too hungy, I could always have their clams all to myself.

Yes, that’s our favourite restaurant without a doubt, and we will be joining you and your great-aunt Hilary for lunch there soon.
I am somewhat peturbed by the fact that I upgraded my Firefox and the bit at the top of the screen where you type in the URL seems to have disappeared.
It seems to me to be something of a problem for a web browser…

Oh oops, Chenier…by “tanks” I meant “clams”…it’s for our organic seafood restaurant, roit?

This is what all the fuss is about apparently:
‘The clean-coal vision, more formally known as “carbon capture and sequestration,” has three basic steps. First, develop new sorts of coal-burning power plants, ones that emit carbon dioxide in a more-concentrated stream. Second, capture that carbon dioxide and put it into pipes. Third, transport it to places where it can be shot underground for long-term storage.’

Personally I still prefer the tank invasion idea.

Shush, Jack!
You are not supposed to mention the tanks until we’ve settled up with the Somalian pirates…

The LA Times has an even fuller quote:
“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration,” Gore said Wednesday at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.

Imagine Hillary riding a tank into the Green Revolution. It’d make Maggie Thatcher seem like a choir-girl.

Well, I’m all for civil disobedience, but surely we could think up something with a higher fun rating than new coal plants.
Bring me the head of Christopher Cox would be cool, and if it wasn’t attached to the rest of his body it would save on the freight, and thus assist the planet…

Perhaps the Somali pirates who captured those T-72s are working for Al! I always wanted to drive a tank. How do I join Al’s Anarkists?
Apparently the full quote may have gone:
“I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration.”

Whatever “carbon capture and sequestration” mean. Who cares, just let me fire some tank shells!
