Obama’s speech was rubbish…
But McCain was unelectable - he crumbled under pressure, he picked a running mate that attracted a lot of attention and couldn’t talk about anything… he was a lot more appealing once he realised he was going to lose - so definitely the best thing for him.

poisoned chalice IMO but yes, I think he is young enough and ambitious enough to make a change for good.
Maybe ‘changing the world’ is a bit ambitious though!
I have sympathy for McCain but I’m sure when he wakes up today he’ll heave a sigh of relief that he isn’t ‘it’. At 72 who wants all that hassle??
