Madeleine McCann: Adopted by Angelina Jolie, And The Changeling
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
DAILY MAIL: “A mother leaves her child while she goes out - and returns to an empty house. No, not the McCann case but the true story behind a gripping new film”
Fact. Fiction. Can you spot the difference?
She was a devoted mother, hard-working, determined and tough. Then, one spring morning, Christine Collins kissed her little child goodbye (leaving him under the eye of neighbours), before returning in the evening to an empty house. Her beloved son had vanished without a trace.
A continent-wide hunt was launched and a shocked nation was kept agog by a string of leads - only for their hopes to be cruelly dashed as each clue led to a dead end.
The child was never seen again, the mother was heartbroken and the community was left divided by suspicion and mistrust.
Terrible. Just terrible. Does it work out in the end?
It could be the tragic story of Kate and Gerry McCann and their three-year-old daughter, Madeleine, who was abducted last year while on holiday in Portugal, and who remains missing to this day.
It could be, albeit with better lighting, a decent cast and a 15 certificate… Gone, Baby, Gone…
But, in fact, it is the plot of Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Changeling, which opens in Britain later this month.
But it’s all false, right? Angelina Jolie is only acting, right? Unless she adopted Madeleine?
It is all the more powerful because it is based on a horrific true story. The so-called ‘Wineville chicken coop murders’ took place on the outskirts of Los Angeles in 1928.
And while they happened 80 years before Maddie McCann disappeared, there are startling parallels between the two.
The McCanns’ grim experience in Praia de Luz - and how they were made suspects by bungling local police - was widely reported.
But Christine Collins suffered even worse treatment at the hands of the LA Police Department. As the investigation into her missing child failed to yield results, she was even locked up in a mental asylum.
It’s enough to drive you maaaaad. Maaaaad, I tell yer…
As in the McCann case, rumour followed rumour.
Each one recorded for posterity…

[...] No one has or can answer my question of why was a reconstruction not done when they were all still in PDL?
***
It is my understanding that “ALL were still in PDL” only a short while immediately after the disappearance and that with crisis management and communication experts dashing in forthwith, political and diplomatic interest being high level also from Day 1 on, there was a tendency to treat the case with velvet gloves … Something, as I understand it, Dr. Amaral has regretted .

The Stinky Stigmatism that is Stigged says: ”A reconstruction could not possibly lead to her being found - you don’t honestly believe that it could, do you?”
……………………………………………………………………………………………..
I make no apology to any poster on here for what I am about to say about this Knob-Head.
The whole point of this particular reconstruction is to make sense of the ridiculous time-lines that the Tapastwats gave to the investigators.
In the event that it would not and could not make sense - this would have given the investigating team much more credibility in the eyes of the public and the law!
So YES - Of course this would have been useful. It may even have brought us closer to discovering the body of MM instead of continuing with this farce.
Fuck-Wit!

Twiglet you don’t think that an unseemly and hasty departure had anything to do with it do you?

Bonsoir Montaillou. Good to be back, be it for a short while.
Are you sure you want to be associated with a pea brain…?

Châtelaine
Yes you do have a reason not to, in fact lots of them, starting with investigators who you know, through their words and deeds, are trying to make a case against you, even though they have not the slightest bit of of evidence.
If I were in their position, having had my character undermined by a near endless stream of lies fed to the Portuguese press from the heart of the investigation, I wouldn’t waste my time on a pointless reconstruction either.
No one has or can answer my question of why was a reconstruction not done when they were all still in PDL?

November 9th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
The fact is, Tiggy-winkle that reconstructions are undertaken regularly, often far from the media circus, in order to clarify the story about what did happen around the circumstance being investigated, and, yes to GET the TIMELINE RIGHT. In this particular case the timeline has never been established and without that it is impossible to tell when the alleged abductor made his strike, and therefore whether any credence can be given to a certain notorious adbductor sighting. Of course that might have proved equally impossible once the timeline had been clarified, but hey that was never going to happen. As PM said their lawyers were never going to let any of them go back and it had to be the t9 who refused becaue the lovely duo could have been required by the PJ to attend.

Mangy Tail Said:
“Well Stig-let if I had a child missing I’d do anything however inconvenient to find her or to promote finding out whudunnit.”
Perhaps so, but would you do something that absolutely, positively, beyond any doubt whatsoever, with 100% certainty, could not possibly lead to finding her?
A reconstruction could not possibly lead to her being found - you don’t honestly believe that it could, do you?
What are you expecting - “oh look, THERE she is, hiding under the sofa all this time, we didn’t think to look there!” ?
