I'll probably be killed for exposing this old Anorak/New Anorak almost-hack, but here goes. (Feel free to delete this comment if you Mods, Admins or Anorak himself don't want this publicised. I imagine everyone hitting F5 all the time for page refreshes got to be a bit of a pain as well as a server strain)

Go to say, the Caption competition - I used Qatada's beard.
http://www.anorak.co.uk/caption-competition/185614.html?wpc=3#comments
and there are the bones of the old Anorak beneath all this sexy new finery. Recent comments. Lists of main and twitterings posts. All still there. Leave this open in a tab and refresh the page (F5) to see what is going on in the inevitable 30-odd other tabs you have open to Anorak.

And get Firefox, for heaven's sake! (just a recommendation but a heartfelt one)

Good morning :-)

I have given my ideas in the MM threads already, but happy to post them here too. Most of them repeat what other posters have been saying already, though.

Single space between the lines please.
Preferably shorter lines too; easier to read.
Re-install "recent post/comment" section
Get rid of the "catch-a-fly" window. It look high-tech, but it's really a nuisance.
If numbering of posts could be back, that would be nice. But we've been living without for such a long time now that it's not a big thing [for me].

And please prevent complete threads going into oblivion ;-)

Numbering is good for individual posts.

Hate click click clicking, do something about that please. Ebay is very clicky and gives me the shits, make it easy peasy for the punters to receive gratification.

Say, this feedback is excellent market research - gives you an idea of who actually gives a shit. Run with it Old man Anorak you and your mod crew have done the hard yards.

David

I empathise! With your wife, that is. I too was married to a materials scientist, or metallurgist as we scientifically challenged mortals called them, and I too enquired what he had done at work. This possibly explains why the marriage had the life expectancy of a brain-damaged gnat. Marry at 21, repent very hastily...

But I have to confess that I like people explaining things.

I used to cart A Brief History of Time around with me in the hope that I would someday find someone to explain the bit where I had got stuck. I do appreciate that this is distinctly weird...

PLEASE go to single line spacing. It is virtually impossible to read.

If you put in a hard return it makes it totally impossible

to find

out what the

person

was saying

And numbers are always useful

But chenier... long boring scientific explanations are my thing.. :)
Early in our marriage my wife learned not to ask "What did you do at work today dear?" because I would tell her, in long boring detail.
These days she sticks to the generic question "How was your day?"
Much safer :)

i prefered that all i needed to do was scroll down to access the news (surely an editorial mistake Ed.) of that day. Is it possible to have both?

Unfortunately i have to do to much clicking with this new format, have you considered the repetitive strain caused by your new format? and and well i can't think another excuse as to why i prefered the scrolling process. I am simple customer with simple tastes.

PJ - We thought of that, too. On the homepage - you see "latest stories". All the days stories are there - click "more" and get more. It needs refining but it's pretyt much the same as the old site, if you prefer to read it thus...

I agree with LP. A list of recent posts (as before) would be good, its too time-consuming to scroll through everything, also page numbers, how many posts per thread (as before also) and the RIGHT TIME!

Many thanks. XXX

How about the prestigious David Award for the silliest research of the week?
