What a waste of Augmented Reality technology. I’m waiting for a live webcam/AR link-up so that I can hit a key and the person I am talking to will be horrified by a huge hand appearing from the wall behind me. If I lean forward a little at just the right time, the pre-programmed hand swipe animation will just miss me. That’s just as useless an application as the virtual AR girlfriend above (I didn’t play the video, but I can imagine what it’ll be like) but in my view much more interesting.
Also with AR images on your walls you can pan your webcam around your room and see how it would look with a different colour scheme, or even how shelving, paintings and even furniture would look without having to get paint matchpots, hold shelves to the wall in different places and move furniture about. Integrated AR is the kind of thing that would get me to stop moaning about my lack of a flying car that Tomorrow’s World promised me every five bloody years…and didn’t deliver.
