DANI GARAVELLI (The Scotsman): “A child in need”

THE little details were the most heartbreaking. The ripped off fingernails. The bite marks to the head.

Stop it, please, stop it…

At the time of his death he had eight broken ribs, a broken back, bite marks to his head and a deep tear to one of his earlobes, perhaps caused when someone tried to lift him up by the ears.

The News of The World has more for those of you that want it – “TODAY the News of the World finally reveals the COMPLETE and UNTOLD horror of what really happened to tragic abuse victim Baby P.”

It’s Bay P-orn… Grab a croissant and read on…

MARK AUSTIN (Sunday Mirror):

“What if Baby P had survived?”

Imagine…

And just imagine for a moment that he had survived the dreadful abuse. That he grew up subjected to horrendous violence and physical torture. What sort of young man would Baby P have turned into?

It’s hard to say. But we can imagine…

A violent misfit is my guess. The abused turned abuser. And so it goes on.

Because people from good homes don’t do bad things. Fact!

ELAINE C. SMITH (Glasgow Daily Mail): “Horror In Our Midst”

MOST of us live in happy ignorance of the horrors that too many children endure.

Actually it’s none of us. We are all too aware of abuse. The papers are full of stories of abused and missing children. It’s what’s sells papers, especially if the children are blonde. (NOTW: “ALL Baby P wanted was love – Instead, the beautiful, fair, blue- eyed toddler was tortured . . .”)

My instinct initially is to turn away and not read the gory details, especially those in the case of London tot Baby P.

Ours too, So let’s move on…

The 17-month-old died in a blood splattered cot last August despite 60 visits from Haringey Council officials in eight months.

Noooo! Elsewhere in the paper:

IT is hard to believe a mum could groom another parent’s little girl to perform webcam sex shows.

But, as the horrific ordeal of Baby P has shown, parenthood does not preclude the infliction of terrible neglect, cruelty and abuse.

Women like mother-of-three Zanythe Harrison, who is now on the sex offenders register, shouldn’t lose their children automatically.

We all must be rigorous and vigilant when it comes to protecting children – and not just our own. Maybe those who report benefit cheats would be better employed looking out for neighbours who are abusing their children.

What percentage of befits cheats are also child abuses. Is there a correlation?
