Merde! William Gallas Victim Of Anti-French Bias, Says Frenchman
FORMER Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit claims that the British tabloid media has victimised William Gallas because he is black… er, French. French, that’s what we mean.
In an interview with French sports newspaper L’Equipe, Petit said:
“The gutter press in England are doing their job well. They’re only too happy to hit out at French players, as I know myself.
“Look at other French players such as Eric Cantona, too. They’ve done it before.”
Yes, the way the media idolised Cantona was a clear example of the anti-French media stance. Petit himself was very well-respected by British hacks, as was compatriot Patrick Vieira, his former partner at the heart of Arsenal’s midfield.
Gallas is an idiot with a book to sell, end of story. So what if he’s a French idiot. No conspiracy here, Manu.

I agree with Petit. There has always been a dislike for the French and the French culture in general by the British and i think this feeling has been transfered onto the football pitch in some quarters . The classic example of Cantona getting abused by a Crystal palace fan because of his French background was a case in point . Furthermore the class and technical skill of many of the French and Spanish palyers in the premier leaugue can not be matched by their English counterparts. This stirs envy , particulary in the gutter press . Not only have players been the subject of abuse , bit also continental managers. The fact of the matter is that palyers from abroad have transformed the premier league from a dire, long ball , comical leaugue to the best leaugue on the planet . I think the English public and gutter press should be thankfull that they have had the pleasure of watching players like Henry and Fabregas perform in the arena and get off their backs !!!
