I think the Dr David Kelly incident will never be cleared up, but Jean Charles de Menezes was a victim of mistaken identity, and there is always the risk of a terrorist being allowed to escape, but a tragedy none the less.
It was right she went (bet she comes back though… somewhere in the system).
As to his other point - I think most of the country would like to see people sacked over the deaths of Jean Charles de Menezes and Dr David Kelly - but the establishment is determined to protect them, so it’s hopeless (and that’s what Dave should be complaining about).
He of course is free to defend her, but she is not the innocent victim in all this mess, and Baby P has paid a far higher price than any. It was on their watch, they didn’t , they go.

It is arguable that Shoesmith simply wasn’t qualified to head a child protection department; she’s a teacher not a social worker.
Maybe it comes down to hiring the right people for the £100 thousand job..
